Hera ya go.......(Don't blame me if you "brick" your tablet).

    1. Install ConnectBot from the Market
    2. Download and install http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6995251/imit...ryplus.r14.apk
    3. Download and install http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6995251/imit...reak-v1.20.apk
    4. Open Visionary, select TEMPROOT NOW (if after you clicked, it show black screen, go to HOME and re-open Visionary again, and then select TEMPROOT NOW again), then it will return back to Visionary menu screen (means your device is already temporary rooted).
    5. Open ConnectBot, type "su" and enter. It will ask for 'superuser' permission, then type "mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mtdblock8 /system" and enter. This will remounts the system partition with read/write.
    6. Open GingerBreak, select ROOT NOW.. wait till your device turn off, then on it again..your device should be rooted now already...

PS. I haven't tried this yet.

Well as far as I understood that is what they asked for and that is what I sent them, along with a copy of the EMS docket.
Yes it is. As soon as I bought the tablet, the next day I emailed pigsback to be sure that there would be no duty charged. They replied to me telling me they weren't sure, but if there was to get a receipt from the post office and send it on to them with the customs label and receipt. Since then they've contacted everyone and they said you don't so it should be fine. I think it's a great buy, if you're like myself (not to techie) and bought it just for browsing. youtube etc.

I've just received mine. I had to pay €36 custom charge, which Pigsback say they will refund. Two invoices were enclosed...one for the tablet, quoting €153.54 and another for
    "Player" quoting €15.
The €36 is for both Customs and PO charges....and they got my mobile number wrong.

Well my tablet arrived last Thursday. After using it for awhile put away and picked it up the next morning and it was gone dead. I have tried charging it and to no avail. I also tried other chargers on it. I emailed Dino direct to say it was broken as it wouldn't turn on to which they replied that my tablet will be with me shortly. They went on to explain that it was delayed due to adverse weather conditions. I responded to repeat i had recieved it & it won't turn on and they replied to tell me email them a picture of the fault! I replied to ask how can I photograph the fact it won't turn on. I am now in contact with them for several days & I am getting very frustrated. Any ideas!

I feel your pain, I've been near two weeks now. I'm just about to give up, they are useless.

I've had the tablet for a week now and I've had no trouble with it at all, in fact I am really, really impressed. The touch screen works great, it's fast, reliable and everything is going well. Must be one of the lucky ones. All in all I'm glad I got it, I use it every day.

No problems either with mine, I got it for my husband as I'm always on his iPad, and his happy with it . Great value, and glad I took the chance on it.

Just a word of warning folks...........

Was using the tablet while in bed the other night, with the charger plugged into the socket behind my head, unknown to me, until I smelt it, the pillow had covered the charger and it overheated and is now bunched!!

I have numerous adapters/chargers but I have yet to find one that will charge it properly. Perhaps somebody here could take the time to measure the "off load" voltage output of the charger that came with it, please.

I know it says 5V but USB chargers (also 5V) to not work properly with it.

    Cheers.

Are you sure that as it heated up the, possibly unregulated, charger didn't damage the batteries or the internal charge circuit ? Also be wary of polarity.

    Absolutely!

Don't know for sure, (re: internal charging circuit) as charger that came with it is dead now. USB charger will charge it to about 35/50 %.

I have a good 5V 2A regulated charger but it doesn't like that at all, even though thats what the original states as its output.

Just to update....I let the tablet totally discharge and now my USB charger is working perfectly. Ie. It is fully charging the battery.
Also I updated the firmware to 4.03 (Ice Cream Sandwich) (see my previous post) and I must say it is a new tablet.
Very Very happy with my purchase!!!

    Hi Sparkrite,

The charger supplied with my tablet is not recharging the battery and I read your post with interest. I can only use the tablet when it is plugged in to the mains. Can you give more information about your USB charger? I am not very technically minded so can you tell me the name of the charger, where to purchase same and the likely cost. How do I connect it to the tablet and will I need an additional cable? Are they available online on Amazon, for example. Hope you can help.

    Regards,

    G3467

OK, sorry to hear that, tell me is the small red LED coming on when you plug in the charger. I assume it is as you say you can use the tablet when it is plugged into the charger, so therefore it is safe to assume that the charger is giving out a voltage.
Does the tablet give any indication that it is being charged ie. the battery symbol has a lightening strike through it.
I am using a generic USB charger that I got in Power City for about 6/7 euro, but I had to connect the plug from the original charger to it.
Also the USB port on the PC is also charging it but it is a lot slower as the current is a lot lower.

I have also purchased this charger on Ebay which satisfies the tablets requirements........

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/220757264775?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Any more info, don't hesitate to ask.

PS. I have reverted back to 2.3.1(Gingerbread) as a few apps did not like 4.03 (Ice cream Sandwich)

Thanks for the further info. Red LED comes on when I plug in charger and tablet indicates it is being charged but it is stuck at 1%. When I received the tablet originally, the battery lasted about 7 hours without a charge before I got the prompt to recharge. Since then, nothing.
Does connecting the original plug to the USB charger involve rewiring etc?
Thanks for the link to the eBay charger; I might try it.
Once again, thanks very much for your help.

Yes it does, but a simple job, just be careful with polarity, ie. +ve in the centre of the plug and -ve to the outside.

I've just had an e-mail from Dino Direct, with a link for upgrading my tablet to the latest Android 4.0.......would this be safe to do, and would you recommend it?

As per my previous post I already did this but reverted to 2.3.1 as a few apps did not like 4.03 (ICS) namely Netflix and Filmon.

Also I reckoned the tablet was maginally slower with ICS on it.

    Thanks...think I'll just leave it.

I've seen some reports on another forum that Android 4.0.3 is not running too well on this tablet:
I upgraded to 4.0.3 and after about 2 days I reverted to 2.3.1. The 4.0.3 firmware is VERY slow and the WiFi will lose the access points randomly and b forced to restart wifi.

I'm going to stay with 2.3.1 unless I hear of any notable advantages of updating to 4.0.3

I got a cheque for the refund in the post today. It's just over 2 weeks since I sent in the documentation so Pigsback weren't too slow with the payment.

Got my cheque today too, €33.06. Was quite dubious when I ordered this, but very happy with this tablet so far. :)

This is a copy of the email Pigsback sent out on 13th Feb:

    "

A number of you have contacted us today to let us know that you were charged VAT on delivery of your Dino Direct tablet.

To claim a refund for any VAT you may have been charged on the delivery of your tablet we need the following:

    1. A stamped custom docket clearly showing the VAT paid and the parcel number.

2.A copy of the EMS docket that came with your parcel – you should have received 2 copies of this docket with your parcel. The parcel tracking number beginning EE (top right hand side of the docket) must be visible on the docket. This docket also contains your name and address.

Send both dockets in 1 envelope to:

    Pigsback.com
    Customer Service Dept.
    3016 Lake Drive
    Citywest
    Dublin 24.

Also, please quote the email address you registered with us when you bought the deal.

Unfortunately, we can only accept hard copies of these documents. We cannot accept scanned copies of these documents sent by email as proof of payment.

    Kind Regards,
    "

The customs docket was on the front of the parcel and 3 copies of the EMS docket were inside the front cover.

    Hope this helps.
