    Hi,

I purchased the unit and used it for about two weeks.
Pigsback.com sorted out the refund of vat etc.

The problems started when the charging socket only worked when the cable is at a certain angle ( i.e faulty socket)

I contacted Dino Direct and asked them for a RMA Numebr ( this is needed to return the unit ), however the link provided on the website does not work.

I sent them an Email and I was asked by them to get it repaired in Ireland and they would cover any reasonable cost of repairs. They said they would give me a gift card for their online store.

I would not deal with them again. I purchased a cover a number of weeks ago and I have still not received it.

    My advice....dont buy .

    Aidan

I've just researched it a bit and it look like its a good deal. Most of the feedback on it is good and for €117 you cant go wrong really.
    I've just ordered one :)

Hello - just wondering how you got on when you purchased one of these as they are advertising the same deal again. Any comments are appreciated

All in all, I am very happy with it.

Think it was a great buy for €105 (I used a discount code: "MEGACHEESE10" ).

For anyone interested in ordering, the current 10% discount code is GETONIT (valid until March 11th).

    As far as I remember I didn't.

What I did was turn off the tablet, boot up the flash prg, while holding the "home" button on the tablet I connected it to the USB port of the PC and waited till the "button" of the flash prg. turns green and then start the flash process.

But I would imagine the SD card method is easier.

Received my VAT refund cheque from pigsback on Friday - €33.60 (so was the VAT and PO clearance charge) - I'm impressed.

I have written a “How To” for the iMiTO AM801 and Blitz RS8 Android tablets.

This “How To” has several purposes.

    It will show how to:
    # back up and save your full system
    # recover your tablet if you “brick” it
    # install and try other Android versions
    # go back to your original set up.

    It contains updates for:
    # Gingerbread (iMiTO and Blitz versions 2.3.1)
    # two versions of Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) both iMiTO versions 4.0.3.

While the method will save the critical system files and apps, it will not save those apps that you subsequently installed and they will have to be backed up separately.

The process involves rooting your tablet, but the rooting method used is reversible.

The rooting method will only work with the Gingerbread versions (2.3.x) and not with Ice Cream Sandwich versions (4.0.x).

I have not been able to find how to root the ICS versions and my PC does not recognise either ICS versions when connected with the USB

Any help in these area would be appreciated.

In regards to speed, I think that the #44 ICS version is faster than the #27 version

I have uploaded the “How To” as a MS Word 97-2003 “Doc” to:

First off, "Fair Play" to you for taking the time and effort to write the "How To".

I noticed no discernible speed difference between the two ICS versions and like you I could not get the PC to recognise the tablet via the USB port with ICS loaded.

All in all I think this tablet runs better and IMHO is more stable with GingerBread and so for that reason I have reverted to it.

Did anyone who purchased from Dino Direct get hit by customs?? I am looking at this tablet, good price but would be worried about customs charges.

    Hi

Yes, I had to pay approx 30.00 Vat and a fee of about 6.00 for customs clearance performed by Customs
