They say you can watch Fair City on the way to work on the various iplayers but Fair City isn't on RTE player, or any other iplayer AFAIK.

I've just researched it a bit and it look like its a good deal. Most of the feedback on it is good and for €117 you cant go wrong really.
    I've just ordered one :)

Naw.... its not my first post since I joined, I has to "rejoin" today and my posts have been set to zero, for some reason.

But I can see where you're coming from...LOL

800 x 600 resolution screen wouldn't be anything to shout about. Also Android 2.3 would be best suited to phones rather than tablets. There's no mention of battery life either which is a little worrying.

Having said that, its not bad for the price ;-)

Dealfind and Groupon abroad are dumping the same tablet at the moment.

If you're browsing for YouTube videos, this might help.. search for a very similar tablet called the Blitz RS8. The offer sports a Cortex A8, instead of the Blitz, which has a Cortex A9. Otherwise, the specs are identical.

    I'm suspicious of this:

    Terms & Conditions

Your order will be posted out by dinodirect.com. Your contact details on the purchase page will be the delivery address please make sure they are correct. Please allow up to 28 days for delivery. Other rules apply.

That sounds like drop shipping to me, if so.. is there still a risk of duty being applied to the purchase?

Price is 'normal', nothing special about it at all. 1 post members telling you how great this offer is, yeah..

  • If you type "MEGACHEESE10" into the discount line, you will get the tablet for €105. I did it last night and it worked fine.

Not much of an offer if DINODIRECT are selling it for much cheaper on the same site for €92 http://www.dinodirect.com/8-inch-tablet-pc-google-android2-3-tablet-pc-800-600pixel-tablet-pc-capacitive-multti-touching-tablet-pc-8-mid-currency-EUR.html they have the exact same one for €258 http://www.dinodirect.com/8-inch-tablet-pc-google-android2-3-tablet-pc-800-600pixel-tablet-pc-capacitive-multti-touching-tablet-pc-8-mid-currency-EUR.html but it seems its only marked up so they could sell this on pigsback. Not really fair is it. You'll be waiting 4 to 6 weeks for this to be delivered to Ireland from Hong Kong and Pigsback failed to mention that you will have to pay customs fee's too.

And if you do it through fatcheese you get 20% back on the €92

    Pigsback fail

    Per Pigsback's Support Section..."
We will be issuing everybody who buys this deal with tracking codes supplied to us by Dino Direct once they have dispatched your order.
Dino Direct have advised us that no customs duty are payable on your package."

Also, both of those links come up with €258 as the direct price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭podge3

Dinodirect.com €117.73 PLUS 20% back if you use fatcheese.com AND 20% off this price if you use code ddchristmasus03

So all in all you get it for a grand total of €102.16 and 20% cashback on fatcheese by going direct to dinodirect.com
Careful with Fatcheese and using a voucher on Dino:

Please note: Cashback calculations exclude both taxes and any postagecosts. The use of a voucher code not listed on the FatCheese website may affect your cashback earnings.

I found this one on Amazon which has caught my eye.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/NATPC-M009S-Capacitive-Gingerbread-Responsive/dp/B006M07X34/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327575073&sr=1-6

A bit smaller (7 inch), but supports ICS via the modding community, has a nice bit of horsepower (1.6GHz) and has mostly positive reviews.

Edit: Balls, no shipping to Ireland. I'll see if I can source it somewhere else later.

I don't see DinoDirect listed on the Fatcheese site... where did that code come from?

Very good spec on this device, for everyday use. Think I'll make the jump.

Superficially this tablet looks okay but given the price I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it without a hands on or a trusted review. It's too easy to produce a tablet which looks superficially okay but put it in your hands and you could discover it has a weedy battery, iffy touch, limited storage or some other issue. It's probably okay as a kid's tablet though.

The spec is pretty impressive though. You can't fake that. I can totally believe you can create a worthy Android tablet for €250. Girlfriends nephew has an Archos 10" from Christmas, and it's pretty handy even with a much lower processor, RAM and storage than this.

    CPU
    ARM Cortex A8-1GHz

    RAM
    512MB

    Interior storage
    4GB

    Storage extend
    TF Card(UP to 16GB)

    Screen
    8inch, 4:3, 800*600pixels

    Capacitive Touching panel

    G-sensor
    0.3MP AF front & 2.0MP camera back

Hi, I'm interested in buying one of these for my dh. I notice that Pigsback have edited their support message and deleted the part that says "Dino Direct have advised us that no customs duty is payable on your package". So which site is best to go for and which has fastest delivery, are they all up to 28 days?

They've also increased the supply from 850 to 1000 now. In fairness, they are flying out.

edit: Also to answer your question, it doesn't really matter where you buy from, unless it's a UK seller on eBay as previously mentioned by somebody. If sent from a supplier in Hong Kong, there is a risk (not a definite) that the package will be checked by Customs and 23% custom charge applied on entry to Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 Jean2012

Yea I noticed supply went up and I'd say customs will take note when they see 1,000 of them coming into the country!! DHs birthday in 2 weeks but doesn't really matter if its a bit late. I know he'd love an iPad but way too expensive at the moment so hoping this will do. He's not very technical so would just be using it for the usual things. He also likes to take photos and use video but thats one of my concerns - is it just okay or is it good - would it be better than his phone (nokia touch)? I've spent hours reading reviews at this stage but am none the wiser - it sounds good but then you read the few not so good ones............

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Atlas_IRL

Most of the reviews seem to be from the company themselves employing people to write good reviews. I orders one on impulse 2 days ago off crazydeals.ie but im not expecting much now to be honest! Anyone here ever got one?

I got one of these through another deals website, it arrived today. Delivery was very quick, about a week from China.

It's a pretty solid feeling item, better than expected. My major gripe is that the wifi range is awful. If I move more than 5 feet from my router it loses signal. It's causing it to be pretty much useless to me. We have phones, laptops, wiis etc. all using the same router from much further ranges without any issues.

At least the lads in Portlaoise have some time to play with it before you get hit with the duty, vat and processing fee!

I got mine on Monday - no charges or nuffink. Had a little play on it and it looks very good. Good capacitive screen - not as sensitive as my ipad but good all the less. Android market works fine. Comes with english manual.

All in all v impressed - just have to wait till next Tuesday until i give to the missus to really see what in can do. Also looks very good and comes well presented in a white (ipad like) box.

Not sure how good this tablet is though.

That's what they said, keep the reciept and it will be refunded. Athough it is annoying.

Really, did they say they would refund the customs charge? Mine is stuck in customs, so might have to pay. I'm not sure if I get the charge back. How does it work?
