    – The early cable estimate on the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view has it doing between 250,000 and 285,000 North American buys. We should have the official number in a few weeks.

    – Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina for the WWE Divas Title is rumored to be added to the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

    – As noted before, The Miz has a small part in Will Ferrell and Dan Akroyd’s “Dog Fight” movie which comes out on August 10th. Former WWE Diva Tiffany also has a small part in the movie.

    – As we noted earlier here on the website, WWE will air SmackDown live on February 21st from Rockford, IL. WWE will begin the final stretch for the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 28 that week.

    – The WWE SmackDown taping in Tulsa, Oklahmoa on October 2nd has a pre-sale currently ongoing with the code ORTON.

    – Look for Shaquille O’Neal to appear on the March 5th RAW Supershow from Boston. As of this writing, there is still expected to be a Big Show vs. Shaq match at WrestleMania. The Rock will appear on the same RAW from Boston, MA.

    – The 2012 WWE Hall of Fame announcements for Ron Simmons and the late Yokozuna will likely be held off WWE TV until after the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

    – WWE has signed 21 year old UK wrestler Andre Tyson to a developmental deal. He’s better known among UK fans as MVK Valkabious.

    Source: The Wrestling Observer
As noted before, the February 6th WWE RAW Supershow did a 3.25 cable rating with 4.61 million viewers.

In the segment breakdown, the opener with Triple H started strong with a 3.62 quarter rating. Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan lost 508,000 viewers. Bryan’s promo and the taped segment with John Cena with NASCAR’s Carl Edwards gained 43,000 viewers. Sheamus vs. David Otunga lost 197,000 viewers.

The segment with CM Punk and Chris Jericho gained just 94,000 viewers – another bad showing for the 10pm timeslot. Randy Orton and The Great Khali vs. Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes lost 22,000 viewers while the eight-Divas match lost 139,000 more.

The Six Pack Challenge with Jericho vs. Punk vs. The Miz vs. R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston gained 443,000 viewers, finishing at a 3.42 quarter rating. This is another low number for the overrun.

The Cow Palace in San Francisco was advertising Sheamus vs. a returning Christian however the website updated their page for this weekend's event and now lists Sheamus vs. the returning Alberto Del Rio. Christian was ready to return at the Royal Rumble event and many expected him to be used but the idea to use him was nixed. There is no word on why WWE is holding back his return at this stage.

Im guessing because he has no one to face? It would have been a waste to bring him back for a mini feud with Sheamus who will be booked up after the Chamber. Who else could he face? I reckon he'll be back in the MITB match.

Christian wins MITB and cashes on Bryan or Sheamus at Mania :p

Andre Tyson is a great name, no need for that Valkbious name.

281,000 last year, and then 200,000 international buys on top of that

I think WWE basically disregard international buys because they get about......30% of the revenue. tbf the Rumble PPV had not much star power going for it (even though I think they did a great job booking to what they had available)

So Tajiri's promotion SMASH closed. No one knew why as on online could speak Japanese. :pac: All we had was this info:

    2012021012440000.jpg

The speculation was it went bust as they where flying in people like Finlay, Serena Deeb, other ex WWE stars and along with tonnes of Finnish indy guys.

    So anyway:
According to Pwinsider.com, Tajiri's SMASH promotion in Japan has announced that they would be shutting down operations this March. Tajiri did state that all shows scheduled through March would take place as scheduled, and that the promotion was closing due to issues within management.

Last week, word started going around that WWE was reaching out to cruiserweight talent for a show that they were planning for the WWE Network. Nothing is confirmed at this time, but Tajiri would certainly fit the bill for a show of that description.

If Tajiri were to return to the states, surely he would sell instead of shut down? I doubt thats the reason for it going under.

Woah, SMASH is closed. 2012 hasn't been kind to Japanese sports, has it.

    Good point.

I wonder if this is enhanced by the fact that two of those missing star-powers this year are Latin American draws, so did the exclusion of Del Rio and Mysterio hurt buy-rates both sides of the Mexican border?

Maybe it really doesn't affect buys that much. Last year they were two of the top favourites to win it though.

Why don't you go into Easons or WH Smith and read it in-store? Take a photo of the competition page if you need to.

Be pretty cool if at Wrestlmania he did his motorbike entrance. Or would that make him look less like the Deadman?

With his head on fire, now that would be cool.;) Though Undertaker and fire haven't gotten along in recent years.

Would be cool if The Rock made a live appearance on the show that's named after his catchphrase sometime!
