I'm suprised no one has mentioned "tight" in a post yet.

I really have heard some women say the Cavan accent is sexy but I never really thought it was so thick to outsiders. I just feel it is neutral .

It's about as neutral as the United States of America.

If I try any accent it sounds like an Indian accent (i.e. Apu from the Simpsons)

Oh and by the way the Cavan accent is one of the worst in the world IMHO.

It's the most annoying disgusting accents on planet earth.

SPOT ON NO BOTHER IS .. SPAW HAWN NO BAWTHOR

8 posts in 6 years and on St. Stephen's Day you just had to jump outta bed and dig up a 2.5 year old thread? Do you slip in and out of comas and just pick up where you left off or something?

I can't believe adults who think that they don't have an accent, and only people from other places have them.

Everyone has an accent! I'm not even sure it's possible not to have an accent. What would that sound like?

People are just so used to hearing their own accent all around them they don't notice it.
But I have a Galway city accent, more neutral than many, and it's already a pretty neutral accent, but I can still hear it, dyaknowwhatImeanlike?

It's funny that the OP doesn't notice his Cyaaaaaaaaaavan accent though: it's one of the most recognisable Irish accents. :)

For some reason this remined me of a Ricky Gervais joke - "Stephen Hawking, born in Kent, speaks with an American accent. Pretentious cúnt".

The Cavan accent is the thickest most distinct in the country, its also the worst. If i was from cavan i'd take a vow of silence so as not to embarrass myself by speaking in such a woeful accent.

There was a news clip a few months ago where a bull got loose from a mart and went into a pub somewhere in kiaaaaw-vaaaan, they interviewed some of the drunks customers about it and i hadn't a clue what the hell they were saying. Its strange because cavan isnt that far away from civilisation and yet the accent changes so drastically when you get there.

Think this is the clip you are talking about:
