Right have been looking at this frame by frame.

Humans are sent to the alien ship on LV-426 planet before all the Ripley based Alien movie happens.
They get the details of the pilot's home-planet and go there to find the origin of mankind.

There are no Xenomorphs (original aliens) in this movie until maybe the very end, because the story is based on finding the race of aliens that (they believe) seeded Earth with humans.
However I think I know the way this movie ends now, and I don't want to even post a spoiler.

Wait and see the movie. Looks as brilliant as the original Alien I have to say.

If this isn't an Alien movie then I don't know what is.

The trailer litteraly spelt it out, along with the iconic musical cues in the background.

The feckin' Space Jockey's room is in the trailer.

Anyways, no matter what it really couldn't be worse than the AVP movies....................cou.............could it?

I reckon the humans will be directly involved in the events leading up to the crash on LV-426 rather than finding the crash considering that ship is laden with Xenomorph eggs.

Get the notion that whatever the alien is it adapts to whatever organism it gets in contact with, so the aliens in the original movies are humanoid versions of the original alien, doesn't really explain the jockey situation though. better be good as it looks to explain lots of things that will affect the original Alien movies

More screenshots clearly showing the Alien connections are more than skin-deep.

I have exactly no interest in TDKR.

I only went to see TDK about 3 months after it was released.

Why bring it up in a thread for another movie if you have no interest in it?

I'm disappointed that the trailer gave away so much of the link to Alien. Other than that it was an awesome trailer. Love the look of the film.

Yeah it looks like the last scene in trailer is when the space jockey's ship actually crashes to the planet.

It looks like its going to be a beautiful film to watch. Really can't wait for it.

It would be a silly move to try and hide the link to be honest.

Also, I quoted an image of pixelburp's earlier in the thread but no-one seemed to notice, here is a higher resolution version. Maybe don't click if you're trying to avoid all details, but it's there plain to see in the trailer.

The space jockey room's occupant. Whatever it is, it's definitely not a human. Given the similarity to it's environment I'm betting its a space jockey.

I rewatched the trailer a few times. I'm more optimistic about it now.

gonna be interesting to see how it ties into the original movie, are the xenomorph eggs on board the ship all the time? or is how they get there going to be how the movie ends, gah, so many questions! anyone know how far before Alien its set?

Why do we need to remove all the mystery from everything? Always?

I have a genuine fear that this will leave a big poo-streak on Alien.

All this talk about it not being a full Alien prequel and then they throw that out there :pac:

I don't think it is. In the trailer we see the crew examining teh jockys skull -

    Looks very different to me.

Don't think I was expecting that trailer.

Difficult to figure whether this is some grand CGI sh*tfest with those final well lit scenes of the planet or a dark moody clastrophobic type similar to ALien and Aliens.

Hoping for the second but my expectations are taking a serious dip now.

Should have expected it too, Ridley no more than Spielberg / Lucas have lost the plot. They have made their money and now they seem content to throw out visual rubbish then tell a story.

I'd say it more likely tips over on its side

I've a feeling the eggs won't be released till the end of the movie probably after accidentally releasing a queen

I've a feeling this planet is not LV-426, it could well be looking at the trailer, but I think it could be a bit of misdirection.

It could be a different planet, where a space jockey ship also crashed, because if this is LV-426, then this film IS a direct prequel, and they have been saying for ages that its not a prequel just set in the same universe.

So possibly, another planet, another space jockey ship, and I really think we won't see any Queen breaking loose and laying a load of eggs. I would be surprised if we even see an egg.

I kinda have to agree, some mystery and enigma is good in movies, like the Thing, why was there the need to make a prequel or whatever it was, I didn't bother watching.

The same goes for the Predator, that movie franchise should've ended with the first movie.

This is why sometimes I'm really happy that good movies bomb, cause they don't make sequels for them and later people realize what an amazing movie it was and it turns into a cult classic like BladeRunner.

EDIT: And yea, I shouldn't have watched the trailer.

Well if it was a direct prequel to Alien, it would contradict the events that happened in the '79 film. From what I recall, the Nostromo accidentally discovers the derelict on LV-426 & it's only after Ash consults with the company that the directives regarding the Xenomorph are passed on. So whereas the Alien mythology implies Weyland-Yutani were aware of the Space Jockeys & Xenos, they didn't seem to know LV-426's relevance.

Were Prometheus a direct prequel then it wouldn't make sense that they'd just sit on LV-426 & allow random mining ships happen upon it. It could instead set up the idea of Weyland-Yutani discovering the Space-Jockey race & preparing themselves for any future discovery of artefacts & evidence, accidental or otherwise.
