A proper Pizza Hut wouldn't go amiss.

I know there are those PHQ delivery things all over the place but after ordering from a few different ones I can't help but think that they're quite substandard.
There used to be at least two Pizza Huts in Dublin up till a couple of years ago. One was in Rathmines, beside the Garda Station. Think there's a cafe there now. If you look on Google maps, the old Pizza hut sign is there.

The other was on Suffolk Street. Again if you look on Google maps, you can see where it was.

Back in college (2001/2002), used to meet the missus there for lunch. They did an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for a fiver, or something ridiculously cheap like that. Fecking nyom. Not sure why they left Ireland. Best pizza around, though no doubt seriously bad for you.

Henry Dimbleby's healthy fast food from Leon.

Leon have a scattering of stores around London but I'm not sure if they're elsewhere yet, although I have seen their cookbook about Dublin.

    Delicious.

I have to agree with you big time on this, I go to Leon every time I'm in London. Super quick, super healthy fast food with great service. The one in The Strand is really nice and I love the old oil can seats.
I got the book last Christmas and it's great.

Somebody doing research for a franchise ???

There was also a Pizza Hut in Phibsboro (where Eddie Rockets now is) some time around 1978, it lasted for about two years, we weren't ready for such exotic tastes as pineapple on a pizza, nor were we ready for a pizza base that wasn't made of cardboard.

KFC replaced (IIRC) Pat Grace's famous fried chicken, which in itself was a small chain but one of the first specialising.

I can remember when McDonald's opened in Ireland (Grafton Street & O'Connell Street - both opened the same year). Brown & Yellow decor. "Seats" that you rested your ass on as they tilted down at an angle so you didn't spend time sitting around. They had it down that a customer should be turned around & out the door in ten minutes.

The queues were out the door at the weekends & yes kids, we only went there once or twice a year usually on our birthdays (they even had a Ronald McDonald Ice Cream cake for birthday parties.

There was a King Burger (not burger king) on Henry Street where the "new" part of clears is in the early 80s. They served bottled beer there. Burned down suspiciously in 1985 I think.

My vote goes to Taco Bell or Hooters or Dennys or Chillis or Jack in the box (although that's just a supermacs that do it better).

King Burger was on the Parnell St side. Lasted iinto the early 90's iirc. I think a Burger King replaced it.

Not so much fast food, but along the lines of low prices chains, Ireland could do with a wetherspoons. Actually, they do a good beer and burger.

    +1 on:

    Cheesecake Factory
    Any Thai/Asian chains..
    Dennys
    Ben & Jerrys
Places that do those ridiculous challenges we see on Man Vs Food..

From what I hear, Taco Bell is currently expanding to Europe, with several stores already in the UK, so a chain in Ireland might not be far off.

And like one of the guys said above me, the chains can cost a bundle, so they could integrate it into some of Yum! Foods other chains (KFC and Pizza Hut being prime candidates).

Also, my brother after coming home from Canada told me about Popeye's chicken, so I suppose that too.

I think we should be giving fast food chains back, not acquiring new ones.

    Let's start with Subway.
