rev where did you get that Schneider from?

    Sorry, only noticed this now.

Got it in The Abbot's Cork.
€10.50 - not really worth it for me - very like Schneider Original at a premium price - just buy 3 Originals!

Without using complex terminology, I enjoy Jameson as it has a nice strong full flavour however the Glenlivet Is also wonderful far more complex but its flavour isn't very full. I understand single malt scotch and Irish blended whiskey may not compare well, but I'd just like a bit of advice before I buy again.
What would someone recommend for my next buy(€20-50~).

Redbreast 12yr old, normally early 40's but can be got on sale for 37 fairly regularly.

Powers 12yr old - bit sweeter, normally around 35 can be got for 31 fairly often.

I'll do the spirit cabinets later on, but my beer cellar is currently looking after this lot...

I give up, other than that they all look relatively expensive and presumably they are all owned by Brockagh.

I'm guessing that it is that they are all from closed distilleries ....

That's it, IWC. Rosebank, Hanyu, Port Ellen, John's Lane, Bow Street, Old Comber, Glenury Royal, Stitzel-Weller, Tullamore and Old Midleton.

Is that the 7 year old Comber? What's it like? Only ever had the 30 year old myself.

In my opinion, it's much better than the 30. It is one of the best old pot stills I've tasted, at least among the younger ones. Don't know if they added colour back then, but it has a very deep colour. All the Comber 7s I've seen have been quite dark.

I've had a few bottles of the 30 and like it very much. I think the allegations of brittleness and over woodiness are sometimes overstated. It is clearly unbalanced, but only on the very finish, to my palate. It's superb on the nose and tongue, I found.
How does the 7 differ, can I ask? Less of a woody finish, obviously, but anything else?

Ok they haven't been added to the cabinet yet but are a few new ones for me.

The 7 yr old has a iron bru colour. It's got the typical diesel oily taste, but less so than the Bow Streets. Less woody than the 30, and I'd say sweeter.

    Bumping this thread up,
I really need to start gathering a good drinks cabinet together and getting a few bottles of wine.
Could anyone suggest where to start on any of these??
Say a few beers to get
    A few spirits
    A few wines

It kinda depends on what you like tbh.

    Thanks Bazmo
Spirits - not a fan of whisk(e)y I've tried and not to my taste, rum I like, bt maybe some suggested starter type whisk(e)ys might help tried single malts and their fiery
Wine - prefer white personally and like Chilean and south African, getting more into reds now, chianti and rioja's
Beer - stopped drinking it over two years ago, just got sick of it but might start again

If you have none, I'd start with the simple basics for spirits anyway.

Vodka - Finlandia, Absolut or Eristoff when you can get them on deal. Don't pay full whack.
Gin - Bombay Sapphire, Hendricks or Tanqueray.
Rum - Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold, Havana 7 Year, Bacardi Oakheart. (all)
    Liqueurs - Baileys, Kahlua, Cointreau

That's how I'd start anyway. There are better of all out there (except Hendricks is probably the best Gin you can get at the moment.). But these are a good starter cabinet. Havana 7 Year is my favourite rum.

My own drinks cabinet was decimated the other night on my last night of work given I got a new job.... 8 bottles of semi-decent to decent spirits gone in 3 hours :pac: Worth it though.

Bit low on wine at the moment, and most of the beers are elsewhere. There is a bottle of Dom Perignon in there though!

I need to find some kind of display cabinet because at the moment I am storing it in the closet :)

Whiskey, rum, gin, wine, vodka, beer. That is my collection at the moment.

Sorry for crappy angle and photo.
