What job did you always want to be in?

I always wanted to be a History teacher. Alas, I'm now a professional envelope licker and I'm about as useful to the company I work for as an ashtray on a motorbike. I fear my redundancy may be a stapler and some paper clips.

So what job did you always want? And are you even close to what your preferred job would be?

If you unemployed, do you think you will get that job someday?

Unfortunately not, as my tongue resides inside a mouth which is attached to a very ugly face. It resembles a kicked in biscuit tin :(

As I child I wanted to be a ballerina. As an adult, I want to be a lawyer. Neither are looking likely to be honest

Some kind of park ranger or geologist in a big national park somewhere like Yosemite, or Yellowstone. One actually stayed with my bro one year, not that I am a begrudger but I made an exception in this case, the bitch.

I always wanted to be retired at 30 and very wealthy. I'm 27, so I'm doing okay at getting to 30, not so okay on the retirement and the wealth though.

If you can't spell it, you can't be it. It's why my friend can't work for the FBI ;)

I used to want to be an astronaut.

But eventually I realised I wasn't going to get that job so I ended up joining the Royal Navy at the age of 16 as soon as I left school in 1997.

I was in there for a few years and eventually left and have just done several different jobs since then, including working in a cafe and shovelling up dog **** at a boarding kennels.

Today I went for a job interview at Pearl Windows in the Wingates area of Bolton and I should find out by the end of this week whether or not I have got the job. Pearl make uPVC window frames and it's a hi-tech, computerised factory.

I'm glad the interview is out of the way, though. Talk about nerve racking. Anyway, tonight I am off out with my mate to watch Al Murray, the Pub Landlord at the Albert Halls in Bolton town centre.

I always wanted to be a Journalist until my uncle got me a summer job in London working for a newspaper.

Jesus wept.... The experience still actually makes me shiver.

Imagine a grown woman screaming "Could you please refrain from using the employee mugs you thick faacking caaaant" into the face of a 15 year old.

There are way more but Im actually getting homicidal thinking about it.

Now I want to be an anything that will get me money.

Aim low, reach your goals, avoid disappointment.

I've always wanted to be a doctor. I'm not particularly close though but fingers crossed in a few more years!

Always wanted to work in the music industry (the organisation side of things rather than as a musician). Pootled about on the margins of doing so for years but decided unless I invented a time machine back to the 1970's it wasn't gonna happen.

Now in year two of four of grad entry medicine and very much enjoying it, so could be worse :)

You know you could have just stopped there. That would have sufficiently answered the thread question. You didn't have to tell us all your life story afterwards

I wanted to be either a vet or doctor - plans backfired when I realised that blood makes me faint/puke :(

Strangely enough, I never wanted to either do anything with numbers or work in an office - I am a tax accountant now *go figure*

I wanted to be a vet too. Until I saw one sticking his hand up a cow's ass.
