I washed my car. :3 It was sorta grey... now its white again! And I could find all the little bits of rust on it. :D

Does little specs of rust on the bonnet count as a fail on the NCT?

No, it's only structural rust that will fail.

Off today so decided to do a couple of bits to the mighty astra van:P

Used some left over insulation I found in the attic to add a nice bit of sound proofing to the back, very hollow road noise was starting to bug me..

    Panels back on,

Also my dash cam got delivered today so I set about fitting that. I didn't want wires hanging anywhere so tucked everything away under the center console and roof lining.

The picture doesn't come out great in the photo..

Now all I need to do is buy an SD card for it:o

Finally gave the van a wash, not that it will be clean for long.

Cheers, I hope it makes a difference now, I haven't tried it yet. It started raining and I only washed it:P

I was thinking of buying some rock wool and underfloor insulation to attack the Octavia.. Would love to reduce the cabin noise a bit

I think b & q are doing a deal on attic insulation at the moment :p. Nice job though, cheaper than the dynomat stuff for sure.

Is the back of the Asta long enough to lie down in? Would make a nice little van for motorsport use!

I'm not certain why I tried it but yes it is:D

Well I don't quite fit straight out but there is plenty of space if you lay diagonally.

Can't see it enhancing what's there already tbh, fair enough in the van as there was little else there but if you want to do A job on a modern car actual sound insulation would be the way to go, quite heavy stuff though.

Exactly the reason I want to avoid using the stuff.
Too much excess weight on hinges etc.

Was going to stuff rock wool in around the rear arches and wherever,

Was going to buy a roll of this stuff >> Underlayto lay under the boot carpet and under the rear seats. Might even chance some behind the door cards.

    What you reckon?

How long was the power cable ND? Did you run by the passenger and over to the power supply? Does the cable come out of the camera when you want to take the camera out?

Removed the EGR system and gave it a good clean, first time ever that had been done by the looks of it.

Luckily with some advice from N.Doctor I got to the blockage which was causing the "Insufficent Flow " code I had :)

I think you bought the same dashcam as me..

I dropped my MR2 down to mechanic for servicing (first service in 6 years I believe) and to sort some electrical problems. Should hopefully have it back in top mechanical order!

I didn't measure it exactly but I ran it from the cigarette lighter, under the center console, up behind the passenger seat into the roof lining and back to the camera. It was the perfect length.
On a normal car it would be more then long enough to run behind the glovebox and up the A pillar.

If you want to take the camera itself out just unplug the cable and take it off the mount, same as a satnav.

Cost me €42 delivered on e-bay! The same camera on dashcams.ie is €94.99:eek:

I reckon youd be better off going for quieter tyres. The car isn't that noisy and par for the class its in but tyres make a huge difference.

I understand that tyres can play a big part but to be fair this is as noisy as my Cordoba I had when it got driven hard :(

Have you read my thread on Tyres?

The odometer rolled over to 155k and I bought petrol, exciting stuff.

I thought about putting the exhaust backbox on again after it fell off. Was too busy making/bottling beer to do it though.

I had to post this. Apologies to anyone who doesn't know about rage comics.

The €42 I posted included customs charge of €12.

It did take over a month to arrive though:eek:

Today I bought another focus. I got a '03 1.6 3dr zetec which is a bit of an upgrade from my old 1.4 lx. Plans to swap over my sony radio, wind deflectors, and mud flaps. Car is perfect with a full service history and 1 owner from new. I'm delighted with it :D.

Sounds like a good one. Well wear, remember my old one fondly...bar the fact it was a 1.4 and a 5 door zetec. Didn't like that bit of it.

Compared to my 1.4 there is a big difference in power delivery. So overtaking is much easier and I'm not so nervous doing so. It handles really well with the stiffer suspension from the zetec.

I don't know why I have waited so long to change. It was turning into a money pit with work needing to be done. The usual wear and tear items. I had her in a garage recently and was told the gearbox bearing was worn, and €450 to put right. My old 1.4 focus is perfect mechancally other than that.

All in all I'm happy with my purchase :).
