    MW2>BLOPs.
Not saying BLOPs was bad but not as enjoyable as MW2. The only let down in MW2 was the lack of dedicated servers for PC. The answer to your question would be no, I would not be reluctant. Treyarch games tho, hell yeah. Never buying one again..

MW3 really is MW2.1... infact its not even.. Its a huge MW2 patch.. fix the probs (commando/OMA etc etc etc) and few new maps!!

They seem to be far more focused on the gimmicks of prestige shops and COD elite than actually improving the game itself!

Really starting to think that I'm not gonna buy this game at all now tbh..
I was thinking of maybe picking it up cheaper after few weeks but being the numpty that I am I forgot I pre-ordered it and paid €5 deposit!

If it's mw2 done proper then I'll be happy!

I was reluctant... till yesterday when I was in HMV and put a 3e deposit on it

Gonna wait till all the reviews are in and that it's stable on the pc before buying, Blops was a disaster on pc and was unplayable for long long time. if not i'll just stick with BF3, but it really isn't all i hoped for, still an ok game.

VERY reluctant about this..gonna fly throught the campaign then see if the multiplayer is good, if not trade it against Saints Row 3 when it comes out :D

    I'm sorry I pre-ordered this, tbh.

I've always played COD, but there is no way in hell you're getting your money worth with MW3. Some ppl will sing the tired tune that if everything about MW2 is fixed, then that is a good enough reason to buy it - I disagree.
I looked at the preview with Robert Boland or whatever his name is (strategist) and everything is basically the same. Apart from a handful of new maps and a few new gimmick pointstreaks, nothing has changed. Even the graphics are vomit inducing for 2012. There's been no progression or evolution of the series and if people feel this is worth the hundred quid they're being asked to pay for the full experience, then I think those ppl need their heads examined.

For those that don't mind bending over for an outdated game, then go right ahead, in the meantime I'll be looking forward to Back To Karkand on Battlefield 3. (Yes, I've converted).

It will be my first time not buying a Cod game

Ill be renting it for a week thou but its sad for me (who was a big cod fan) that the game just doesnt move forward with the times

You have bf3 which is one of the best graphical games out today, its frostbite 2 engine has revolutionise online gaming where as mw3 has the the same old IW 4.0 engine. Mw2 was released November 10, 2009 so mw3 is using an engine 2 years old.

I hope the game proves me wrong but we'll see midnight tomorrow and the week ahead

It's the same because it works great on the consoles with a solid 60 fps so until the next generation consoles come out it will remain the same, can't really compare it to Frostbite 2, that's designed with pc in mind. Blame the console manufacturers for holding back progress on graphics in games. Frostbite 2 is extremely dumbed down just to be playable on consoles with a cap of 30fps.

defo decided what I'm doing now!

I'll probably play BF3 until Friday and then pick up Skyrim and MW3 then.. Dont think MW3 is gonna get a proper look in for a long time!!

    My priorities are: Skyrim > BF3 > MW3

But since there is most likely a good party going on MW3 I might just chime in for the craic!! but I think COD is growing old for me already.. (only started playing MW2 bout the summer after its release)

After buying all the other COD games I won't be buying this. Theres no value in paying full price for it for me. Its basically the same game as before with new maps and a few tweeks here and there to justify the price tag.

I've no interest in the single player campaign.

MW3 is like a really expensive retard filter for BF3

Thats a really unfair comment , i got battlefield and didn't like the slow pace of it , played a good 24 hours total game time on it too , maps are stunning but thats about it .trading it tomorrow for MW3 as i know it will be good.

Except its not because of consoles. They have no reason to invest any money into tech because people will go out and buy the game regardless. There are countless xbox 360 games that look tons better and run smoothly because the tech is more up to date. It's still firmly in Quake era engine tech with a few bells and whistles bolted on.

Mind telling us why? I was considering picking it up on steam

Because I felt robbed purchasing this game at full price when its the ultimate rehash of all rehashes. Sure every COD game since 4 has been a rehash but this one takes the biscuit. It's ridiculous. I'd pay for this game as DLC but like a fool I didn't.

Probably the last COD for me.

Oh and also the games piss easy. Been dumbed down even more.

was kind of reluctant to get it, but sure for €43 I will probably sink more hours into it then most other games so it's not like I won't get my monies worth

Im hearing mixed reports - essentially the people who want it to be good think its good, the people who want it to be bad think its bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭r3nu4l

I really want it to be good but I'm expecting it to be bad. Either way, I won't be finding out for a while yet...if at all!

Getting a bit jealous reading all these new MW3 threads though :D

    Eurogamer posted their review

With such a well-rehearsed recipe to follow, there's more room here for innovation than there is for improvement. There are plenty who would love to see Call of Duty dragged through the mud for its lack of new ideas, but the game itself is too confidently constructed, too generous with its pleasures, to deserve any lasting vitriol. This is a ferocious and satisfying game that knows exactly what players expect, and delivers on that promise with bullish confidence.

Its greatest weakness is an outmoded single-player campaign that feels more threadbare each time it gets wheeled out, the limitations of its structure only occasionally masked by ever-escalating scenes of bombastic mayhem. It's thrilling and familiar in equal measure - but never, ever boring.
That the single-player story brings the Modern Warfare saga to a fairly definitive end is, then, cause for celebration. Whatever next year's entry brings, some measure of reinvention will be essential. For now, its exuberant blend of testicular bravado and blockbuster gloss ensures that Call of Duty retains its crown as the shooter genre's biggest, boldest rollercoaster ride for at least one more year.

You're always going to be seeing it from a skewed perspective, those that love mw2 are more likely to like mw2.

IF it turns out to be a flop in the coming months, I'll still have more hours ploughed into it than a normal game so I won't be too hurt from it.

Knowing your comments from the past on this forum, DRP and your own forum, I don't buy that for a second. Yet again, you went fishing for a reaction. I strongly suggest you cop the **** on. Last chance.

I deleted my comment like Shammy suggested - for people that cant see my reason for deletion I stated that I didnt intend to troll and it came out wrong.

Fwiw Im a big fan of the COD series so my comments were more fueled by anger than anything else mainly because the series has gotten a bit stale for my liking. Im also a big fan of Battlefield so I really appreciate how they have put a huge amount of resources into improving the seies unlike MW3 who imo have focused on gimics to try and squeeze the fan base for more dollars.

Also on a personal level you could have sent this to me by pm like Shammy did who we all respect. Instead you felt the need to try and stoke the flames by calling me out in public after I have deleted my comment. If you have a problem with me Id prefer if you just put me on ignore or at least stop trying to single me out at every given oppertunity instead of threatening me with exercising what little power you have in this small corner of the internet

    Thank you

been playing it for the past few hours, and i agree with some previous posts that its a tad bit easy, but that could be because ive played all the COD series and im used to them. The maps are new, theres new weapons and extras, but after a few days we'll get used to the maps.

Now all i need is a broadband failure in the area and i'll be able to start the campaign. :D
