Sorry mate, I just don't accept that. You are wrong sir ;)

Not really, the following examples prove my point

    • Battlefield 2 > Battlefield 3
    • Crysis > Crysis 2
    • Team Fortress > Team Fortress 2
    • Starcraft > Starcraft II
    • Deus Ex > Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    • Oblivion > Skyrim
    • The Witcher > The Witcher 2
All examples of sequals having new interesting settings/ mechanic, though you don't have to accept the proof.

Not bothering to do all of them but your picking some awful examples which don't prove anything except that it takes about 5 years for drastic changes to occur.

Deus Ex - 11 years between them.
      Battlefield 2: 2005, Battlefield 3: 2011
      Oblivion 2006, Skyrim 2011.
      Black ops 2010 MW3 2011.

      Spot the odd one out.

If your comparing apples with apples ?

      MW2 (released 10th Nov 09) v MW3 (released 8th Nov 11)
      WAW (released 14th Nov 08) v BLOPS (released 9th Nov 10)

Either way comparing mw2 and mw3 or black ops and WaW and complaining about the (perceived) lack of progress and then holding up the majority of those examples listed above as progress isn't comparable.

The only recent game that "changed" was Mass Effect and that still had 3 years development and I'm still not sure if I like the change from rpg to action dominated style.

People will fall into one of two categories providing mw3 turns out to be mw2 without all or some of the broken parts. Some will be up in arms saying why wasn't this done before calling them lazy rip off so and sos. And the others will be delighted that they finally get something not broken to play.

Dont thnk I'll be picking up MW3 for some time. having plyed COD4 and MW2 to death.

I switched to BF3 on its release day and I'm delighted I changed. No doubt I'll pick up MW3 in the next few weeks/months but this year I didnt feel the need to rush out and buy it and after reading some mixed reviews it seems I havent missed too much.

Very insghtful. Are you a regular COD player? Anything more to add or is this just another "OMGZ, Battlefield is the 1337, COD is 4 n00bz" post?

MW3 is missing allot of features black op's had, and that just really grinds my gears.

I understand this opinion, however, it just makes me look forward to Black Ops 2 a little more !!!

I miss the dolphin dive and the tomahawk but I'll throw Blops on when I want a bit of that. Nuketown and Firing Range will definitely still draw me to Blops for a change of pace/scenery from MW3.

      • Battlefield 2 > Battlefield 3 Nope. The 2 games from the Bad Company series came here. Same genre, same developer.
      • Crysis > Crysis 2 Game failed massively?
      • Team Fortress > Team Fortress 2
      • Starcraft > Starcraft II
      • Deus Ex > Deus Ex: Human Revolution
      • Oblivion > Skyrim
      • The Witcher > The Witcher 2

You named only 2 fps games. Lets try some more:

Resistance 1 - amazing, Resistance 2 - average, Resistance 3 - awful. Why? Because they tried way way way too much each time (core changes) and the people who liked the original sure didn't like number 3.

Killzone 1 - good. Killzone 2 - very good. Killzone 3 - mehh. Why? They made huge changes between 2 and 3 to core things such as the aiming system.

UC2 MP - Very good, UC3 MP- Mehhhhhhh. Again, loads of changes.

And these aren't just opinions I hold, I read plenty of gaming forums and these are the general opinions on these series. So it has to be said; when your fps game is good, just add to it. Major changes rarely work.

The one thing that stopped me from wanting to buy this game was the mega-bitch thread in here. But tbh I am really enjoying it.

I am so torn at the moment. People that I regularly game with that have bought MW3 all have the same opinion

"yes MW3 is very good but I cant stop playing BF3 its just excellent"

I dont want it to be the case where I buy it for top dollar and never play it!

Rent it for a night, you'll know after 2-3 hours of gameplay whether you like it or not. I love it so far, plan on getting BF3 in a few weeks so I can swap between them

Lads I don't think you are giving us the really important details or detailed details.....we need to know the exact time the shops opened and when they actually shipped to the shops....your being too vague.

I got both BF3 and MW3 and BF3 MP will be the one I play more.
      Good to have the variety.

I do want this, for no reason other than a new chapter in the campaign.
'Map pack' and re-hash MP will be a bonus.

Bot for that reason, the price is too high.
I may look second hand or look for when Harvey Norman starts flogging them cheap.
