Dunnes aren't much better... I bought some pants in there last week and they don't even have a hole for my fireman to come out of!

I reckon that's a suitable point at which to say the shark has been well and truly jumped!

That said, in a slightly associated matter, the better half did buy me a pair of Sonic the Hedgehog PJ bottoms, which she then commandeered for herself.

Does it count if you made it yourself?:)
Took the failed Megadrive switch mod that i tried a few weeks back apart and redid it in a slightly less complicated way.Its all working fine now 50/60hz and jap/english :)
(as you can see from the copy of Mercs there)
Just need to make the switches a bit more permanent and get my new working RGB cable in the next day or two and I'm all set.

Cracked open the commodore to give it an oul clean,
and noticed fingerprints that have been preserved on the RF case since the day it was assembled:

I feel like I've discovered an ancient fossil of the Retro Gaming World!

From the date code on the SID chip you can tell it was assembled in 1991 or later,
so it was one of the later machines produced before the demise of commodore:

Really glad to have one in such good condition, I could tell by the warranty sticker that it had never been opened before.

    Few bits today:

Game Boy color in almost mint condition.
The case is completely perfect, just some microscopic marks on the screen.
I've a replacement screen on the way for it anyway, as well as a few other screens for various handhelds I've won in auctions over the last week.

And under the Game Boy is a mouse mat(might just pin it to the wall in the man cave).

    dsc5606.jpg

Still sealed in box Game Boy Advance.

    dsc5608.jpg

And not really retro but its for my man cave(going to get a nice funky glass frame for it next week).

Awesome mouse mat and poster dude. Were they ebay purchases or some online shop?

That poster reminds me of a certain PCB I would absolutely sell my lungs for. *wibble*

Got a boxed copy of turtles tournament fighter today. Great condition as well. Finding it hard going though compared to street fighter turbo.

I picked up a Street Fighter IV Ryu branded Xbox 360 fighting pad the other day from HMV - just €12.99 brand new which is great. I really need a good D-pad equiped controller for all the retro shizz that I got going on with the system. My Hori EX2 is great for some games such as King of Fighters XII and Fatal Fury Special, but I just can't play Street Fighter games with an arcade stick - dunno why really. I suppose I have problems getting round how to manage six buttons on an arcade controller having become so accustomed to four on my AES stick.

The controller works a dream with Street Fighters III, IV and HD Turbo, as well as my shmups. Its great for Daytona USA also, but I can't seem to be able to customise the pad in-game for that one. Strange.

I also ordered Dodonpachi Resurrection from eBay. I went into GAME in Dundrum on Thursday and asked the most competent looking person (suited 'n booted manager dude) if they had gotten in the game for the following day. The pr!ck told me to ring at about 10.30 the next morning to find out then myself. That was pretty rubbish customer service to be honest. He should have at best went out the back and looked at the delivery receipts to see if the game had come in, and tell me there and then, or at worst took my details and rang me back a while later to let me know what the story was. I never treated customers like that in my five years in video games retail. He pretty much didn't care about helping me.

I got my own back anyway and just ordered the game online. Fcuk 'em! Probably would have charged, what, €45 quid for it anyway. I won't get into a rant about GAME but they have really dropped the ball in recent times. They have far too many pre-owned games in stock and hardly any new ones bar the Top 10 or new releases, the staff are very annoying trying to make you buy pre-owned all the time. The management and employees are ill-informed for the most part as well, and the prices of games are higher than they should be, especially against UK prices. Plus the games you get out of the drawers as normally scratched to buggery, and the cases sat out on the shlf are often half beat-up too.

Is it any wonder people shop online?

Yup, fair enough if it was a Christmas temp, but the shop manager fobbing you off cause he couldn't be arsed to check a delivery note / shop system? Not on.

That attitude filters down to the lads behind the counter too, I always try remind myself that although the shop workers may seem unhelpful, its only because they've either been badly trained or its from watching managers do the same.

If the game is going to be easily available I don't mind paying a few euro more in a shop.

But for obscure stuff? All the headaches and the pricing irregularities? I'll take online ktnxbai.

Ah, the very man... Cheers, BTW. Do you know if they still sell the replacement LCD for the Nomad on DealExtreme? I can't find it.

Em Steve posted a link to it there somwhere recently, to my knowledge they do still sell it. The lead time is abismal though man, & while your waiting for it arm yourself with the charger & battery pack bits...it really completes the Nomad

I've every intention of doing so. ;) I'll have a look for that post.

Is the latency that bad? Never come across that mentioned in any information I've read for the screen mod. Shame.

EDIT: Thanks for the link. :)
