Enough comparisions. They're each good in their own way. Now just gimmie a gun and point towards the nearest noobs

I'm actually really impressed with the CoD community so far and the lack of absolute bollox talked about BF3. We're pretty much all in agreement that the two are different games and as such should be judged on each of their merits.

Certain members of the BF3 community, however, have been nothing but childish, throwing insults around as if we actually give a toss. Seriously, if you dislike CoD that much then why post on this forum? Shouldn't you be off playing BF?

I dont get the BF fanboys hate for COD, they're both games where you shoot people in the face, ones more arcadey, ones more tactical, neither are realistic really.

+1. The most I've heard is from a few big commentators talking about how if you go in with the COD Run n gun attitude then you're fcuked. Basically just that you have to adjust your play style.

Guaranteed the few BF people out there will have a lot of crap to sling at MW3 when it's not perfect coming out, but still, who listens to them whiners anyway?

That being said each gun has a unique sound even when silenced, yet Battlefield 3 has that generic Popcorn popping sound for each gun, whether in be the AKS74u AK74m or RPK, they all sound generic.

TBH I think battlefield sounds better. Hard to put a finger on it but there's definitely more of a war 'atmosphere' it from the sounds alone.

They're two different games though, imo COD does the subtle sounds better (more useful for close quarter combat) and Battlefield does the whole atmospheric/overall sound better. Bullets breaking the sound barrier from a sniper rifle in BF are epic

Okay so the general attitude in this thread seems to be that if you make a criticism of a game, it is somehow insulting?

I fail to see why people take criticsm of a game they are a fan of so personal, as if you're offending those people.

Do you think it would be better if the thread was censored so only praise comments are filtered through?

Should we not compare what we like from both games or dislike from both games,
and share what we would like to see in future games?

People seem to forget that a lot of the people criticizing COD, (constructively)
were COD fans from the very beginning, and are dissapointed with how it has turned out in recent years.

COD 1 was a very innovative game at the time, in terms of A.I. and trully felt like a chaotic battlefield, something that was lacking in the Medal Of Honor games which had extremely linear firefights which played exactly the same way the second time you played it.

So I personally think that COD has become tiring just like medal of honor did that back then, and it needs innovation and evolution, which I hope will happen with MW4.

I think the guns in recent COD titles sound like they're being put through a high pass filter,
all you can hear is treble, where as the guns in BF have a full body sound,
the low end is there, and the explosive reverb/echo is present also.

I shot an M-16 for the first time this year, and being so naive I never expected that you would need to use ear muffs because of how loud they are in real life! Maybe its from playing too much games or watching too many movies, I don't know! ;)

Always assumed they would only be necessary for Shotguns and long range rifles.

And i think BF3 has captured the explosion a gun makes pretty well.

The only problem I have with this topic is it's in a mw3 rumors and discussion thread which has nothing to do with battlefield.

Fair enough, but there's only so little you can change until fans start to complain that the game is completely different to what they're used to and refuse to play it.
There is a reason it is the best selling game in the world. People like it just the way it is I for one want to see innovation in the product too, but it is hard to do without disturbing the boundaries and dynamic of the game itself. In fact, huge changes in the COD series could lead to the game's sales self-destruction.

It is still the most relevant thread I could find to discuss the flaws I see in the up and coming game, and you have to make comparisons to shed light on the entire spectrum.

I do see how it can spoil it for people who are checking this thread regularly for updates on news.

Perhaps a dedicated thread discussing the flaws and strong points of the game would be better.

yes.... that would be a great idea... lets create a thread so we can discuss the pro's and con's for a game that no1 has played yet !!! :P

Given the repitition of the series I technically have played some of it already! :p

I'll be stabbed for saying that haha!

    Point taken.

    No offence, and going by all your posts in the Battlefield forum;

You're going to see CoD in a way different light to BF before it's even given a chance. Personally, and as with many of the posters above, gameplay far supersedes graphics in importance in a game for me. It's no secret that the feel of BF is realism, and that of CoD is an arcade shooter, and the graphics definitely reflect that. I'll wait until I buy both games after release to come to a conclusion as to what I prefer, and even then it'll be weeks/months before I can say that with some confidence.

Anyways, this is a Mw3 thread in a CoD forum, so keep the jibes about the franchise to another forum, or better yet yourself.

Brilliant post! In fact, it should be stickied and used when someone asks what a fanboi is!

And, if you take a trip over to the Games forum, there is a thread dedicated to BF3 Vs MW3..

I've critisied the series numerous times, and have commented on myself being half-arsed about MW3. The last COD game I thoroughly enjoyed was COD4. I have even said that MW3 is make or break for me or I'm done with COD. Others have commented similar in this thread as well as numerous other threads minidazzler pointed out. We don't all sing of the same hymn sheet. But we all want the series to further itself more and more. I personally find comparisons with BF3 laughable. Both are very different FPS games, and we should enjoy them for the different experience they offer.

People are weary about BF fans / COD haters based on past posters who've trying to derail this thread among others. Not saying you're one of these, I haven't read the majority of posts in here in the past week or two tbqh.

Agree with this, COD haters tend to point out things that COD players know all too well anyway, asshole community, broken mechanics. IW have admitted a lot of stuff in MW2 was a big misstep, over reliance on killstreaks etc etc and if they fix those and balance MW3 it could be the fantastic game lurking under MW2's nooby exterior.
I've said it a million times that when you get a good game going against teams that dont play like nooby dickheads MW2 is an absolutely brilliant online experience, its just a shame the opposite happens all too often.

If MW3 is as balanced as the makers claim it is then great, if not then this will be it for COD for me as well.

I agree with you....when you get a balanced game with equal teams I don't think you can beat MW2.....played it more than any other game.

Not without it's faults of course but I thought it was one class game.

I only hope MW3 DLC also supports Spec Ops this time too!

I was like that for a few years in that the only games I was interested in was some online shooters, "just nothin like the rush of hunting people down and killin em !!".... I know quite a few people that have no real interest in gaming outside of CoD/Halo or fifa, nothing wrong with that in fairness.. some people just aren't interested in it.

While i thought uncharted 2 was pretty damn good and easily the best exclusive franchise between xbox/ps3.. i wouldn't consider it one of the finest ever (For me.. its probably top 15 this generation of consoles but I like a LOT of different genres and prefer games with a bigger story). Its a funny type of game imo, more like an action packed 10 hour movie... probably a great choice for someone who only plays CoD tho since its really easy to pick up, play and enjoy yourself.

On topic... just seen a MW3 advert on the TV for the first time :P Getting close now.... just gotta get a few assignments and tests outta the way before i get stuck in !
