    Hi all,

Do any of you buy the Glorious Skinny Soups?

I think they're handy when I just want to heat something up in the evening - 3pp for half the tub of New England Butternut Squash last night and it was yum with 2 slices of the Dunnes bread that's 3pp for 2 slices, so 6pp in all for a nice warming meal.

    :)

hey i never heard of this brand? where can you buy it?

Down 2lbs this week! Wooo! I've starding having alot more soup....its readymade soup....but its still soup :) and it's obviously helped :D I've been drinking alot more water, and bringing my lunch to college :)

Hi guys, searching through for recipes today. Someone posted a lovely meal during the week with gnocchi and mozzarella in it but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere on the thread today. Does anyone have this receipe? Bought the mozzarella and gnocchi and now don't know what to do with them!!

I make this alot. Got it from the WW mag. It's really easy.

For the sauce I use passata instead of the tinned tomatoes in the recipe.

Basically put the passata or tomatoes in a pot, add garlic, capers, basil and chilli flakes and heat through. In the recipe they also put in olives.

Boil the gnocchi for about 2 mins.

Put gnocchi and sauce into ovenproof dish. Tear the mozzarella and scatter over the dish.

    Bake for about 12/15 mins.

In the recipe they use 500g gnocchi and 75g mozzarella for 2 servings. I usually only use 200g per person and put in a bit of extra mozzarella. They WW mag points it at 13pp but I make mine for 11pp per serving. (I always point any recipes myself from the ingredients I use). Also it's probably better to use full fat mozzarella and use a little less - it's much nicer.

    Enjoy. It's yum!!!

Don't forget to point your frozen peas, I got caught out with that a few times :)

To get multiple things on the calculator, you'll need to multiply the nutritional values for one serving by however many you're having and then put that into the calculator. E.G if one fish finger had protein 2.1, then two would be 4.2, three would be 6.3, etc. Do same for all values. I think?! That's how I've been doing it anyway, someone please tell me if I'm way off

thats not how i do it.just put in the value per serving say one fish finger 2.1 get your result and hit the multiply on the calculator,,it works it out for you then:D

Can I ask how everyone points butter? I use low low, is it 1pp for a scrapping of it on a slice of bread or would you get 2slices for 1pp? Only a small thing I know but always bugging me!

I weigh it. I stick a bit of clean paper or a post-it on the scales, set it to 0, and then put 10g of butter on (10g low fat butter is 1pp), at least then u can be sure that you're not going over points!

Hey guys - so nearly at the end of the first week! Will be weighing myself tomorrow morning to see how it went!

This weekend I was out on Fri night so had a few glasses of wine and a beer so that was about 20 points and then was out for dinner this evening - had chicken with herb mash and buttered veg and gravy and then meringue with strawberries and vanilla ice cream for dessert - was yum! I don't really know how to point this but I had about 26 of my weekly points left so I reckon that should cover it!

Made a big pot of veg soup today too so that should keep me going for the week :-)

Well it is a bit of a strange way to do it.

    1 medium whole egg = 2PP
    1 large whole egg = 3PP

If I was having one yolk and 2 egg whites, I would point it as 3PP (1 egg, no PP for the other egg white). If I was having 2 eggs, I would point it at 6PP. Most eggs are large (65g) so if you weigh them, that should give you a better idea. :)

I get it in Dunnes but I think they have it in most supermarkets in the fridge? They have a spicy Vietnamese one that's yum too.

    Well done on the 2lb!

Looking good for being down on Wednesday. I've stuck to the plan all week, apart from Saturday night when I brought my husband out for dinner and I had no idea how to point some of what I ate so I just guessed. Hate guessing but in the past I've over-estimated the points consumed, so hopefully that's the case this time too.

Haven't had any alcohol this week and I think that helps me lose weight. The booze seems to slow my system down. I don't mind not drinking, so it's no loss to me not to have that glass of wine with dinner or bottle of beer on a Friday.

I measured my hips this morning and they are bang on 40". So since August that's 4 inches off them in total. delighted with that. I'm also very close to the 32" waist mark too.

Hi All, I too did reasonably well over the weekend.. Wore a couple of bits that definitely didn't fit this time last year.. Also my husband commented on Saturday that I look an awful lot thinner.. Not that I had a lot to lose but I didn't like my size, one stone overweight makes me feel awful even if it didn't look too bad. Also I measured my inches and found a couple missing too since August!!! Happy days;). Two pounds left to goal so apart from a Dorito slip up last night I should be okay. Think I'll take the kids swimming after work/school too just to be on the safe side:) now I did fully use points and weeklies this week so I'll settle for a sts... Just not a gain please god:(

Oh girls I made the creamy Italian chicken on here Saturday.. It was gorgeous!! My 14 year old daughter said it was the nicest dinner she's had in ages so high praise indeed..

I'd recommend the meeting from my experience. I know it costs money but it really does help you stay focused. I've learned so much from my meetings and got so much support and motivation.

You get a welcome pack with everything you need to point and track.

BTW, I love your username! I am going to have that song stuck in my head today though and an English Sheepdog running through my dreams tonight. :)

Hi MarthaMyDear! I was dreading the thoughts of going to the meetings for the first time but within a few minutes I was delighted I went - of course it's daunting when you don't know what to expect, but honestly I couldn't do it without the meetings. Missed mine last week due to sickness and I'm all over the place since! Your weight is between you and your leader, you don't get weighed in front of other people (a stupid thing that I worried about for weeks beforehand), and every other person is there for the same reason you are. You'll start to see the same faces there every week and it's great for meeting new people and having a chat with others who know EXACTLY what you're going through. When you join, you'll get a little blue folder with some leaflets, a pocket guide (or book of points) and tracking things in it, and the calculator can be bought seperately at your meeting (around €12 I think?). If it's like my meeting, the leader will usually keep you for a few minutes after your first class and show you how to calculate points, etc.

Some people work really well on the home programme but I know for me I need the meetings. Best of luck whichever you decide!

are you weighing your portion and are you sure that your pointing right?
How much fruit do you eat (people seem to have issues when they eat a lot of bananas)
If you are pointing right and only eating 3-5 portions of fruit it could be that your under eating. I know that when i eat all my weeklys that i lose twice as much weight as when i dont because i excercise a lot and dont use my excercise points so when i also dont use my weeklys my body thinks im trying to starve myself
If it is an issue that your under eating DONT use your extra points on junk food just for the sake of it. Try adding an avacodo to your day (cant rember the points but i know its full off good fat) or have a bigger portion of proteen (like more meat in your dinner or extra eggs)

I found that advice worked for me. I joined weight watchers in june 10 and lost half a stone between then and christmas (and put it all back on over christmas) when pro points came in i decided to find out about how my body works so that i could make better chocies with my points i read the stickys in this forum and found out that proteen fills you more than carbs and between ww and the gym ive lost three and a half stone since january because i now know how my body works and i make sure i feed it the right food at the right times (sorry for rambeling just wanted to let you know where my advice is comming from)
If all else fails bring your trackers into your leader and if they cant spot something straight away they'll bring it to their supervisor. The leaders are there to spot when the plan isnt working and should be able to give you advice

Thanks for the advice guys! Everyone on this thread is so friendly :) I've been just calorie counting and trying to cut down on carbs but I think I need more help. I'm always way too strict then I end up having a bad day where I eat loads of crap! Think the meetings are the way to go for me :) I'm living in Kildare btw!

layviae. You hit the nail on the head eating 4 maybe 5 portions of fruit a day, but eating meanies and Curley worleys to use up points.. Exercising 3 times a week 90mins step aerobics and body tone, Never use my exercise bonus points.. Someone said that I might be being to rigid with it!

Feels like a never ending journey

You're under eating and that's why you're not losing. What daily allowance did your leader give you? The minimum amount of daily points is 29 so you need to be eating at least you daily points. 22-25 is too little and if you don't up your daily points you're not going to lose weight.

Yeah my allowance is 29 but usually have porridge made with water 4 Brekkie ww toast with 2pps worth of cheese and tomato for lunch and veg stir fry for dinner with fruit as snacks by 8 at night I usually still have bout 6 pts left! I'm not the best eater in the world only eat beef and chicken so find it hard to vairy foods! Just feel like I've hit a wall!

You need to be eating the 29 points daily in order for the plan to work.
Some ways you can up your points based on what you say you eat:
Add milk to your porridge. Have a beef or chicken stir fry and have larger portions for extra points.

I spent some time going through this thread last week and I came up with loads of different meal ideas. I tweaked people's recipes to my liking because I'm a fussy eater. Maybe try that and it might help you come up with some ideas :)
