Eh well there's a funny story there. I had a smashing one made up for you and the dog ate it. Such a disgrace really as it was a masterpiece. Hours down the drain. Do I still get the cookie though for effort :D

    Thursday Oct 20th

    Nother rest day...

    Friday Oct 21st

A run where everything annoyed me. Flipping jacket collar kept hitting me in the face, earphones kept falling out, keys bouncing in pocket, dogs, buggies, people. You get the jist!! Run done though so just one of those evenings.

Analysing it after I'm just frustrated at lack of fitness. On a positive note, lungs felt lack of fitness bad and not sick bad...if that makes any sense. This is good news tho coz it's something I can work on.

    Plan: 3
    Actual: 3.04

    Sat Oct 22nd

Cycling on the agenda this morn and when I looked out the window and saw the wind/rain I was thrilled. Legitimate excuse to hop on the turbo trainer for the first time :D. Its set up (thanks to D!) in front of the TV so perfect.

Following the endurance Tacx workout plans to build up fitness and will then move onto the workouts El Director gave me. Quick session for workout 1 done and figured out I hate the smaller gears and lower slope

    Time: 32 mins

    Sun October 23rd

    Easy Run

AccuWeather told me when there would be a window of opportunity to get out without any rain...eh they lied! Very tempted to hop on turbo trainer instead but made myself get out in the "lovely" weather. Glad I did...it was gusty and raining but a lovely run.
Running completly by what feels easy at the moment and only using the Garmin to track my distance.

    Tues Oct 25th

    Quick Run
What a difference 24 hours makes. A beautiful calm evening in Malahide as the sun was setting and I was running past water pumps and cones cordoning off roads after yesterday. Tried to pick up the pace a wee bit, again just running on how I feel and not the garmin. One of those runs where I wanted it to go on forever so luckily I have a plan to keep my mileage in check

    Plan: 2

    Run - LSR

Another fab evening for running. I did the Malahide - Portmarnock coast route again and I have to say I really enjoyed this. Hardly any runners out which is unusual for that route - twas great to almost have it to myself!
Weekly "lsr" time and I was full sure plan said a whole 4 miles . My bad, plan was actually for a whopping 3 miles!

Ah there is logic behind that reason of an lsr on a thursday!
Heading home to the Mammy & Daddy for the w-end. As the Mammy is insisting I should still be resting after the chicky pox, I will not be lacing up infront of her! Otherwise it would be lecture time from the wise old mammy...and I cannot handle that for the entire w-end

Mammy is always right! Don't do anything strenuous over the weekend, you need to be in full voice for Monday.

    Mon Oct 31st

Spent the day giving out shiny DCM medals to some very happy folks...along with the odd grumpy git! Met some hyper boardsies at the finish line too and one boardsie swearing she was never doing a marathon again!! Yeah right :p

Great to meet up afterwards and hear about some cracking performances. Enjoyed some of the celebrations sweets too...thank RK

Well done to everyone yesterday who ran, helped out or came out to support.

    Tues Nov 1st

Cycle - Turbo Endurance Session 3

AM: Day off today so finally convinced myself to get out of bed and hop on turbo to work off last nights beer. This was not pretty but job done and most of the beer sweated out of the system.

    Time: 43 Mins
    Distance: 17 km

    Easy Run

PM: Out for a run this eve to make up for the session I missed yesterday. Lovely eve out and oddly enough not another runner in sight - funny that!! Run felt a bit harder that it should but prob to do with lack of water today. Anyway back on schedule for the week.

    Plan: 3 Miles
    Actual: 3.03
    Time: 30:31
    Avg Pace: 10:04

    Wed Nov 2nd

    Cycle - Endurance Session 4

Good session with higher slope settings which oddly enough I much prefer. Those fast spins on easy gears do my head in, feel like I'm going to take off out through the patio door.
Ouch though, I really need to get a new saddle . Took me a while to pluck up the courage to sit on the couch after!

    Time: 60 Mins
    Distance: 21km

    Run - Easy Run

Getting a bit bored with the easy runs so decided to add some variety to it. Plan said 2 miles so not alot I can do with the short distance but added some interval work @ planned 5km pace (8.43 according to last 5km race). So workout went like this

    W/U 0.5 Miles @ 10:46
    Int 1 0.25 miles @ 07:56
    Rec 0.25 miles @ 10:26
    Int 2 0.25 miles @ 07:14
    Rec 2 0.25 miles @ 10:35
    Int 3 0.25 miles @ 07:19
    C/D 0.27 miles @ 09:40

Emm intervals way too fast there so no wonder I struggled on last one - trying to track pace on Garmin in dark is a pain in the gicker as I'm too lazy to keep turning on light so just used it to track distances.

    Plan: 2 miles
    Actual: 2.02
    Time: 19:22
    Avg Pace: 09:35

OHHHH look at you with your speedy intervals ;) good on ya.

Nope not good on me - everything apart from W/U was too fast. That and the fact I should really still be doing easy miles on mileage build-up phase! Should only be starting this stuff after a month back running.

    Run - LSR

A fab morning out but I had 1 layer too many on and should have left the jacket at home so I was roasting 5 mins into it.

Oh man am I annoyed after this run . I picked a route close by with a plan of gradually introducing back in some hills to the longer runs. So there are some small inclines and then the one hill (and I use the term loosely!) I was targeting. Now it's only about 0.5 miles long and I would say ~100ft incline so nothing really but it kicked my bloody ass :o. Talk about a reality check as I had to stop near the top huffing and puffing!
Now I know this is only my 3rd week back and fitness is gone but honestly this is just not on. I know where I will be starting my hill intervals
    Just one of those days

    Plan: 5
    Actual: 5.05
    Time: 51:16
    Avg Pace: 10.09

Every training run takes about two weeks to get into the legs, you'll be powering up that hill in a fortnight, or your money back!;)

Aye I know you're prob right but patience was never my strong point...am working on that, big picture and all that .
No harm to get a reality check every now and again anyway.

However what's this money back scheme you speak of :D

Cycle - Turbo Endurance Session 5

Turbo session set up in front of tv to watch the footie and then the NY Marathon. Great running so far by Mary but Buzu is catching!

As for my session, I can honestly say it's been a long while since I sweated so much (nothing to do with the beers last night ). Good stuff tho and I really love these turbo workouts - glad I invested in it.

    Time: 75 Mins
    Distance: 26.5 km
