Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. standings, as of week 6

    Eastern Conference
    Slinger/Lomira Owls/Lions 5-0-1
    Team Lanigan 3-3-0
    Spongey Bears 3-3-0
    Pick Sixes 2-3-1
    Dangerous Rebels 2-4-0

    Western Conference
    Inchicore Warriors 4-2
    Salthill Saints 4-2

With the top two in each Conference going to playoffs, almost everyone is still in it after six weeks.

Willing to trade a combination of Victor Cruz, Daniel Thomas, Brandon Lloyd, James Starks or Shonn Greene, preferably two of them (one WR and one RB) for a top-tier WR or maybe a RB, depending on the offer.

I'm not desperate as I feel all those players have good value going forward, it's just a case I have alot of depth and it could be better utilized in one star rather than two upper-tier #2's.

I will see my first loss this week bye week is crucifying my team. Picked up a few FA but my opponent has a healthy team so it should be my burn week.

Are you at all concerned about how heavily based on the Patriots your team is? If the Pats run to, say 12-1 or 12-2 and start to wrap players in cotton wool for the end of the season doesn't it have the potential to nuke your season?

Nope. The final for the PPR league is on Week 16 which is the 2nd last weekend in the NFL. The Pats don't start resting players until the last game of the season and even then based on the last few seasons they all play most of the game including Brady and Welker.

Lost by 12 points. Would've won if I played Antonio Gates instead of Greg Olsen grrrr

    Started off 4-0 and I'm now 4-3

Loving AP in PPR, he's so dependable it's getting ridiculous these days.

Watch for a tebow sack to be counted as a run with lost yards again...

With 5 weeks to go pretty much all ten teams are still in with a shout of the playoffs. Only TO's team is well out in front and looking safe. There's gonna be some tasty matchups the last couple of weeks.

Just a note - PPR league has a 14 game regular season, unlike the other Boards leagues, which have 13. So week 15 is semi-finals, 16 is the final. So there are 5 weeks left.

Left Michael Bush on the bench; that's 32 points gone a begging :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,301 ✭✭✭padraig_f

Started 1-6 and won my last 3 to leave me 1 game behind a playoff spot (Chicago Bears).

Got pretty lucky last night, had Packers kicker Mason Crosby against Aaron Rodgers with a 20 point lead. Was tied at 84-84 in the 4th quarter when Mike McCarthy brought in Matt Flynn for Rodgers, with the Packers leading 38-7. Flynn ran in a touchdown and Crosby kicked the PAT to give me an 85-84 win :)

Chris Johnson had his best game of the season this week and think he should be pretty good from now on. Didn't believe that he stopped caring once he got paid, think it was more lack of conditioning with the holdout + a loss of confidence. Hopefully he keeps it up next week against Atlanta.

Big showdown this week between me (pick sixes) and Spongey. He's half a game ahead, in the second playoff spot in our division. If he wins he's in, if I win I have a chance. with two weeks left it's still up in the air.

Looking across to the other division, if I was in that one I'd be in first place, while I'm in third in ours. There ain't no justice.

I think there is only 1 week left.

playoffs are weeks 14,15 and 16.

Nope. I specifically set it so that playoffs are in wks 15 and 16. There is a 14 week regular season, so there are 2 weeks left.

I'm the #2 seed and leader of my division but only ahead of my nearest divisional rival on points scored. Didn't notice until now but my last two games are against the same team, the Bears. Should be a very interesting two-game series, he may be 4-8 but he's got a very loaded team and dropping Newton may yet come back to haunt me!

    To all PPR Leaguers

There is a little question about the week 14 matchups in the PPR league. I checked a few days ago and saw that everyone was on Bye, according to the site. I had initially set the league to have a 14 week regular season, with 15 and 16 for playoffs, yet the site didn't seem to recognise this, and had left week 14 blank.

So I had to set the matchups manually. The ones you see now are only provisional, I didn't have time to work out what would be fair. In fact, the matchups up at the moment have teams playing other teams for the third time, which does not work, I don't think.

Until week 13, every team has played every other team in its division twice, and every team from the other division once. Rather than having teams playing someone in their division for a third time, I propose to have interdivisional matchups for week 14, and to draw names out of a hat to set the matchups. Obviously you'll have to trust that I'm doing this fairly, the week 14 games are important for the playoffs and I may be involved in this race.

Any comments or suggestions, mail or PM me. If enough people want a within-division week for week 14 I can do that either.

Doesn't bother me which way you go as I have already secured my playoff spot but seen as everyone has played each other twice would it not be a good idea just to starts the playoffs this weekend?

Well we have to play this weekend as it's week 13. You probably mean next week, which is the week in question.

I see what you're saying. The only reason I think it's important to play a regular season game that week is that it has been set for a 14 week regular season since the beginning. I emailed everyone letting them know, and posted on here also. So people have been informed about 14 weeks. I'm reluctant to change that now, as there was an issue last year about the commissioner changing settings in the middle of the year. It was set for 14 weeks, people were told about 14 weeks, I think we should play 14 weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,308 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Yeah, I think you should play week 14 as a regular season game. Don't really mind what format.

I noticed it early on as week 14 being a bye week and cared less to be honest. The fact that ESPN turned it into a bye week shows that they noticed the math didn't add up with the amount of teams and the normal amount of games played.

The way I see it there is no difference having to plan for a 3 week season and a 14 week season you still have to win every game every week ye know. But as i said which ever way you go tis no bother in my book.

It's going to create alot of issues for teams on the bubble, especially depending on the match-ups that are made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,308 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Have the bubble teams face each other then ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,301 ✭✭✭padraig_f

Not a huge deal to me either way, but I'd say playing more games is a fairer decider of who should go to the playoffs (plus if it was said at the start, better to stick to it).

Nice idea about bubble teams playing each other.

    Maybe:
    e1 vs. e2
    e3 vs. e4

    w1 vs. w2
    w3 vs. w4

    e5 vs. w5

    (possibly unfair on e2 & w2 who gets a tougher match than e3 & w3)

Another idea, top plays bottom from the opposite conference:
    e1 vs. w5
    e2 vs. w4
    e3 vs. w3
    e4 vs. w2
    e5 vs. w1

Ensures bubble teams play opponents of equivalent strength, and gives a slight advantage to the ones in better position. May be better than a random draw.

Thanks, didn't think I was getting any compliments at 4-8. The Chris Johnson and Peyton Hillis RB core killed me (plus uh, selecting Michael Vick in the first round). But CJ went for 190 yards last week, which wasn't a huge surprise, because his form had slowly started to improve. So yeah with Cam Newton in and CJ back in form, I'm probably a bit stronger than my record suggests.

    .

To me the second suggestion here may be an option, but I'm still more in favour of a random draw. In every fantasy league the schedules are unbalanced, eg. in Div 1 I play 13 games against 13 different teams, there are two teams in the league I don't play at all. These two teams are set at random, as they are for everyone. There is an element of luck in the schedule for everyone, the two teams I don't play could be the best in the league which gives me a big advantage over someone who doesn't play the two worst.

So I have actually done a random draw of teams from the East v teams from the West. I won't put it up yet as we need to agree on if this is how we want to go. I'm still interested to hear what people think, and if they feel strongly about one way or another. I may add that the draw doesn't exactly suit me, as one of those teams on the bubble, but I'm still inclined to go ahead with it as the fairest way of doing it.

That's definitely true about the built in element of luck, I don't mind the random East vs. West draw, just throwing some alternatives out there.

I still think I'd edge towards my second option over the random draw because, ok, there's randomness in regular season matchups, but when you get to the playoffs, they're not drawn randomly, they're seeded. So you could say week 14, where we have a decision to make, it's a kind of semi-playoff scenario and there's some benefit to seeding it.

And for the teams it mainly affects, e2,e3,e4,w2,w3,w4, it's guarantees they don't play a (theoretically) very easy or very tough opponent.

But when it comes down to the last game, there's going to be a lot of luck involved anyway, so I don't mind the random draw either.

Drafted him on a hunch (and a man-crush), but dropped him in the pre-season. Started thinking I was silly for rating an unproven dual-threat rookie (he was my #2 after Sam Bradford). I didn't make the same mistake twice when Tebow appeared on the horizon.

I'll be sticking with my hunches next season.

I did a draw for Week 14 matchups. Here it is, I think it's fair enough.

    Vanilla Thrillas v Pick Sixes

    Chicago Bears v Spongeys Bears

    Salthill Saints v Slinger/Lomira Owls/Lions

    Donoughmore Dynamos v Team Lanigan

    Inchicore Warriors v Dangerous Rebels

The battle of the Bears in the final week is fine with me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭fisgon

Looks like I'm not going to have any shot at the playoffs now, playing Spongey this week, my rival for the playoff spot, and will lose if MJD gets 8 points tonight, which I think is a lock. Absolutely killed by injuries, this week and all year, lost Andre J and Forte in the middle of their games yesterday, Forte after five carries, lost Schaub 2 weeks ago and Bradshaw and Julio Jones have been banged up for weeks.

Yeah, I know, boo hoo. Still, had a really good team, healthy, I reckon I had a real shot at the playoffs and maybe the league. Next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,965 ✭✭✭Syferus

Need a 20 point game from VJax to win this week's game, he's liable to either do nothing or get 30 points. C'mon bro, do it for Daddy Norv.

EDIT: 17 points for VJax and half-time. Even one postive yards reception of any hue would probably be enough now. And if VJax would be kind enough to call it a day after that and let Gates get a TD for me (in LTTP where I'm up against VJax) I'll win that match-up too. It'd be a great week for a sweep!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,308 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Wow, Jackson stayed at 17. Not a point in the 2nd half!

Helped the Warriors leap into first place though, so I'm not complaining.

Huge last week for the 3 of us fighting for those 2 play off spots :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,865 ✭✭✭Spongey1975

Just as a matter of interest, the final week fixtures that were picked at random has actually ended up as the e1 v w5, e2 v w4, e3 v w3, e4 v w2 & e5 v w1 that some people were looking for.

Got my wildcard place booked as 2 teams cant overtake me, happy days.

Oh and the three of ye in the west maybe competing for the lead in that division but you must also include Team Lanigan from the east who currently holds that final wildcard spot. Its the division winners and the 2 best records that get into the playoffs

    Spongey isn't safe ;)

OK, so how are ties decided in the event that we have the same record?

I only have a chance if I win and Spongey loses.

We have played each other twice, won one each.

I assume it will then go to PF-PA

Spongey currently is +20, with me being +6.

Lads check the projected playoff tab in the standings section. It shows Team Lanigan as the #4 seed and he is 3rd in the east. That indicates to me that its not the top 2 in each division but the division winners and the next 2 best records. Unless i am totally wrong that means i am safe :D:D:D

Ha ha! I didn't even check to see who the others were. i just seen 4 teams and my name! Congrats on securinga play off so :o

It goes on Points scored (I'm almost certain, but I've already been wrong today...)

Yes, this is true. I just checked the rules for playoff qualification, only the division winners get automatically through. the other two playoff teams are decided by best record, regardless of what division they are in.

I didn't realise this myself, I assumed that it would be the top 2 in each division, but that's not necessarily the case. This is the default setting on ESPN.com, and as far as I can see there is no way to change it. So that means that 5 teams still have a theoretical shot at the last two spots. Lions and Spongey are through, and Vanilla, Inchicore, Donoughmore, Lanigan and Sixes are battling for the last two spots. Gonna be a wild last week. (the tiebreaker is most points scored)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,965 ✭✭✭Syferus

It'll be some round robin this week, alot of teams in the mix for play-off spots - I know I can win my division, get a wild card or be eliminated depending on what happens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 833 ✭✭✭barbarians

My playoff hopes are very slim at this stage, need to beat team lanigan, hope the Pick Sixes beat Vanilla Thrillas and top the Sixes score by 37 points or more to take that last playoff spot.

Alternatively, if I beat team lanigan and the Warriors lose I'll top the division but the Warriors losing to the Rebels isn't very likely either :(

    I'll start saying a few novenas :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,308 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Looks like I'll lose this week and still top the group.

Donoughmore Dynamos also lost, while Pick Sixes only need 3 points from marshawn Lynch to beat Vanilla Thrillas

I'll defend my place in the play offs (if I make it) with a 7-7 record by pointing out I'm likely tio finish second top scorer overall :p

C´mon Lynchy, just three little points. (he was a game time scratch six weeks back with a bad back, don't do that to me this time)

(Actually, I've just checked, and of course it doesn't really matter. I'll still be fourth in the division and out of the playoffs, even though I will have a better record than the winner of the other division.)
