So what's the deal here? They're a bunch of Travellers, who don't travel anywhere and simply use their status as an ethnic group to get away with doing illegal sh!t that the rest of us would get in trouble for?

Bulldozers. Really nasty, fcuking big ones. In the middle of the night, when all the kids would be alseep. Just line up, hit the gas and roll over everything. Slowly. Then pour petrol over the crushed ruins and let her rip. Marshmallows are optional.

they should just fence these bloody rent a crowd in, for months if they have to, and smoke them out with the smell of nice food. you want water? yeah its outside go get it, no ones bringing it in for you.

and have the travellers finally gone travelling? not a fist in sight.

No one else find it funny that 'Homes under the hammer' is on BBC 1 now, if you're tired of watching BBC news.

The view over the site in BBC News is interesting ... one banner says "No Ethnic Cleansing". Really? You want my sympathy, playing the cultural victim is not the way to get it. What's happening there is a long, long way from what happened in Bosnia or Rwanda, and shame on whoever wrote that banner for making such a comparison.

Here's my historical "big picture" view: there was a time, hundreds or thousands of years ago, when there was still "free land" that anyone could live off. A nomadic tribe could move with the seasons, exploit a bit of land for a while, then move on.

But now? We have "travellers" who don't want to travel, and I can understand why. Just about all the land in Ireland and the UK is spoken for now: it belongs to someone, or people are living on it. The nomadic lifestyle just does not work any more in Europe. Africa and parts of Asia, perhaps, but not here. Now, if you turn up and pitch camp, you are no longer on "free land": you are doing so at someone else's expense.

So the Dale Farm "travellers" have appealed to the Law, and the Law has said "no". That should be it: you are either a member of society or not, and if you are, you have responsibilities that go along with your rights. You don't get to use the Law when it suits you, then resort to lawlessness if it doesn't tell what you want to hear.

Government resting upon the will and universal suffrage of the people has no anchorage except in the people's intelligence.

Their sense of entitlement is sickening. They have no legal basis to be there and are playing the ethnic card to try and keep on breaking the law

Delighted that they're being kicked out

I've no problem with people supporting this issue but see when it gets turned into a national issue against ALL Irish people from the Sun/Mail/Telegraph??

'Cromwell should have wiped all the Irish out'

It's comments like that that make you wonder fuels their anger sometimes, whether it's to do with travellers or just being Irish. :(

Where did that quote come from? I'm sure there would be national outrage if one of the British tabloids printed that

    Well said bnt, well said!
If they ever won an appeal, sure lets just ignore the courts ruling and evict them anyway.

No no it was just some dopey idiot from one of their comments section, I think it got taken off. Interestingly enough there's people calling themeselves 'Oliver Cromwell' & 'King Billy' on the mail comments section right now lapping it all up.

You may find it unserious, but there's an awful lot of anti-irish comments being spewed out there right now. Not pleasent reading, I hope it's as I say, geniunely about land rights etc rather than a rant against all things Irish.

Still, thats not what you said. Please just link for us the page with "Cromwell should have wiped all the Irish people out". I'm hoping you can't and have made it up in truth, because I read the mail and the telegraph and comments like those would be completely beyond the pale and actually totally inconsistent with those papers. I'd be deeply saddened.

Anyway, good to see that Essex Police didn't take any half measures today. A flash of a baton and a taser soon gets the UCL undergraduates running from their barricades it appears!

I thought that they already had another place lined up in another English county? Some other local authority rate-payers will get stung for a few million quid in legal fees when the focus of attention moves there with them.

There are quite a few negative comments about the *Irish* on 2 FB pages about Dale Farm. Doesn't make very pretty reading.

Why would I need to be brave to state my opinion (that they are breaking the law, and like any lawbreaker need to be dealt with swiftly and decisively) in public? Because people like you, who presumably do not agree with this, will bring about reprisals? I don't understand this. I'm at university, it was on the TVs at campus as I left earlier and people were freely discussing it. I gave my opinions to a bunch of peers and didnt feel a hard man for doing so!

No worries anyway.Don't think there are any of the Dundon McCarthys on the site.

At the end of the day, in my opinion, the people at Dale Farm are there illegally and the authorities have every right to move them and to use force if necessary.

I can't see the problem with moving them on tbh.

I think I hate the liberals protesting more than the actually travellers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Yeah.. Just listening to her makes it clear that she is just protesting for the sake of it.. She has no idea what alternatives the travellers were offered, no idea who was or wasn't injured, no idea what the UN or Amnesty International said, no idea about anything really..

Any other day, if she wandered onto that site, she'd be torn apart.

I was thrilled with the presenter tearing her apart though. Fair play to him cause she was speaking some level of nonsense.

When did every traveller in the world become Irish

The Daily Mail has some quality photos, they are always good for photos whatever about the rest of the paper

Go back to Ireland state the comments.
If you were born in England and lived at a site for over a decade are you still Irish?

Do you need to live in England for three generations before the little Englanders accept you as one of their own?

I know they have ethnic status as "Irish traveller" but what's with this go back to Ireland. A lot of them have been here in their lives

    In what sense?

The travellers have no legal right to be there, if it wasn't an "ethnic" group none of those idiotic wish wash liberals would bother getting involved either

The Daily Mail is your answer...it's readership are usually of the blinkered right wing village green preservation society type...I wouldn't be shocked what its readers say.
