I'd be more annoyed that we're going around in circles on this thread. If the video evidence was there, it'd be out by now.

Therefore it's either 1 or 2. In which case he should face punishment as he wasn't just being a "gob****e", he was being wreckless with someone elses reputation.

Nullzero, would you find it acceptable if I declared you a rapist & said I had solid proof you were?

If & when I was shown to be lying, and indeed there was no proof, would you be happy that no action be taken & I just go on my merry way with there being no ramifications for such lies?

If a club representative for LFC has told lies about Evra, I agree he should be punished harshly. Even if he was just "mistaken". Its no excuse for someone in that position.

As a representative for the club, he should be held to higher standards than, than you or I as joe soaps on a website.

In fairness, thats sidestepping and you know it. What if your in a club with your friends and family and some girl points you out and says you raped her? You get hauled down to the cop shop and questioned. Then a couple of days later she goes "well I dont actually have any proof anything happened at all". Would you shrug your shoulders and head home to continue on with your life, bearing mind all the people you know have it in the back of their minds you've been accused of rape? The "victim" in these things is often quickly forgotted and all thats left is the allegation and the person it was made against.

I agree.

That's why there should be a procedure in place for these things imo, which includes the player making the accusation not running crying to the media before the charges have been heard.

Its also important that people don't think you can just cry "racist" whenever it suits with no ramifications.

I think the point being lost is Evra said there is proof of racist slurs by Suarez on 10 occasions during the match.

If he said once, fair enough it might not be picked up, but 10 times surely it will, if he said it.

The sooner you get it into your head that there will not and should not be a charge for assuming there is video evidence the better for everyone having to read the same bull**** over and over again.

He still stands by his original claim evidence or no evidence.

Say I'm in a shop,I see someone I know stealing.
I report it and say "he definitely was,sure it will be on camera".
Turns out it was a blind spot and not picked up on camera.
Should I be charged for dragging the good name of a thief through the dirt.

Ok, imagine you were sitting in a pub with all your friends, family and work colleagues and i start shouting that you are a dirty racist. You argue your case but i continue to say that i have proof of you being a racist. I leave it a few days and then it turns out that there is no proof.

How would you feel?
