Just wanted to give people a little boost - my friend got married this day last year. I had to buy a size 20 dress, I look insanely miserable in all the photos.

Went into a shop today and bought a maxi dress in a 14 to spur me on - brought it home and it fit me. I've been going round all day with a stupid grin on my face, I'm so happy - guys, please, don't give up - I've been big since I was a teenager, if I can do it anyone can. Track like hell and enjoy the weekend, if you feel like you want to give up, please don't. Moments like this make it much, much easier to turn down the offer of a chinese (like I did a few minutes ago, wonders will never cease). We can all do it together xx
Awh I'm smiling for you too!! That's excellent!!

So pleased for you Egypt Melodic Mutant - that is such a great motivator.

Looking back on old photos today with friends and just can't believe how miserable and uncomfortable I looked in every photo.
I think everyone should keep a photo to hand of a time when at their most heaviest - I have a photo stuck inside my ww folder & inside the "goody" press when I was at my most heaviest and still remember the photo being taken trying to suck in, trying to smile with gritted teeth just hating how I felt. Never ever want to go back to that...

Having a gander on the English site and there's loads of chat about changes to the plan. Leaders aren't announcing till 1 Nov but they all seem to think another option is being introduced. It seems to be on the lines of the Core/No points that WW had a couple of years back. A list of food that you could eat without having to point and then on Core if I remember correctly you could have 3 old points extra a day for treats.

The new list of food is on this link:
    http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/images/2057/dynamic/GCMSImages/Food_List.pdf

    Anybody heard anything bout this?

Hi guys looking at a your posts is giving me great motivation for next week when I start! I really just need to lose around half a stone, 10lbs the most cos I've been really just eating anything the last few years and now I'm beginning to notice that it's not as easy to keep it off!

I did the WW years back when I was in my late teens but sort of stopped - I seemed to have more motivation back then, don't know why!

The one thing that I'm worried about is the weekly allowance - I mean it's great and everything but couldn't you end up going on a total food binge at the weekend then and ruin all your hard work from the week or does it matter? 49 is a LOT of points to do some damage! :-D would you still lose weight? How has it worked out for you guys?

I joined WW last week had not been in a year and only had put 7lbs back on in the year

last week i was given 39 PP's and stuck to it, walked i was a good boy and lost 1lb now i know 1lb is great but then she tells me I should have been on 51 Pro Points not 39

I am doing what I should eating my points - I dont know if I will be down this week its just So much food

anyone been where I am ?
How did they make that mistake? Thats a big difference! The pro points seems good, but the one thing I dont like is not being able to calculate how many points I should be on per day myself. Not a huge deal, but I find it odd thats its not in the book

You can calculate the number of points you should be allowed using the WW calculator :-) it's very handy!

I've been hiding in shame last few weeks. I was sick for few weeks and just didn't have the energy to cook properly...and of course no one else would cook for me..my mum just throws a tizzy "if my food isn't good enough you can go hungry" then she bites my head off for having scrambled egg on toast...

That bug thats been going round is nasty! even tho im "better" i still feel totally drained! its going around everyone is the same down here.

But its a new week....so hopefully a better week! I need to work on my water intake this week. Think I'm going to try and give up bread again...its too easy to just shoval in, its so easy to call 4 slices of toast a "snack".

thanks! the money fairy finally came this week! So some the stress is gone! I'm a full time student so thats like all my time and money goes on that really.

but this week first thing i did was buy a mountain of foods to fill the press's with my kind of healthy foods, tinned fruit, readybrek, ww/light choices cooking sauces, plenty of "cook from frozen" stuff like fish cases, yellow fin sole, so i have no excuses for not having a dinner, lots of baby potatoes and light mayo for potato salad, chicken breasts, + pasta for the pasta chicken curry lunch thing, wraps for ding quiche, sugar free squash and ww drinking chocolate to get the water into me. Need to get a few bags of the light choices steak mince during the week, thats so handy again cook from frozen,

I havent dont a drop of excercise, the early mornings are killing me...i'm not a morning person...so by the time i get home i just want to collapse...even tho my days arent that long this year....its the early start still crippling it for me!

I try to take the stairs as much as I can in college! I bring my own lunch as much as i can, Tomorrow I'm going to start bringing a flask of hot water and sachets of soup, I got a new backpack during the week one big enough to take books and flask.

Right off for a shower to wake my ass up then I'm going to make a Quiche for lunch tomorrow and scrub and boil wash all my flasks, travel mugs, lunch boxes! I think last night was the first decent night sleep I've had in a few weeks...i'm totally charged and ready to roll!

Fantastic! I'm heading off to the supermarket soon myself - need to get stuff in for the week! No excuses! I suppose it helps that my mum is doing it with me so gives me that extra bit of motivation!

I know it must be tough when you'ew in college full time cos you always have to be thinking on the run but your plan sounds great - stick with it!

I've just spent the last hour or so going through the thread looking for recipes and new meal ideas. I've come up with loads. I've been really good so far this week and I'm feeling positive for the rest of the week. I've been exercising as well. For dinner tonight I'm going to have sweet potatoes, veg and 2 turkey sausages.

After some conversations on here recently I've come up with a few ways to try and get my weight loss back on track. Next week I'm going to try and go cold turkey on treats. Just for the week mind! The only thing I'll allow is a bag of popcorn at my break in college. Another thing I'm going to try is not to use my weeklies and if I need a few extra points, I'll use my activity points instead. Also going to try giving up diet coke for a week as well. And I'm getting my post-WI binges under control as well.

Lainy welcome back. I was only thinking yesterday that you've gone MIA and it's not the same without you. Good luck with getting back on track now you feel better. I hope your appetite hasn't been affected. I know when I get sick, I can't stand my normal foods for weeks after.

Let the count down to Christmas begin :)

Hey everyone, just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Things are going good, lost 1.25lbs this week and i'm delighted I really needed a boost cos my weightloss has slowed down alot and I was finding myself getting demotivated. I thinks its due to all the extra hours I'm working 6 days a week is killing me but thankfully all the major cook offs I've done have really helped me stay on track WW wise so handy pulling out a preportioned home made dinner in the morning and then just cooking some carb and veggies to go with it late in the evenings.

My exercise regime is down though it's just so hard to find time for everything so I'm down to 4 5k's a week so I know thats a contributing factor in my slow downed weightloss but i'll get back on track exercise wise once the tax deadline is out of the way on November 15th - this time of year can be lethal for eating crap and putting on weight for everyone in the office to easy to call for Pizza when you're working 12 or 13 hr days.

So i'm 32.25lbs off now which is kind of unreal and I never want to see them on again! So I'm 10lbs from my original goal which was to get down to 10st 7 but about 21 off where I actually want to be, so i'm more than half way there now and i'm so glad to be finally able to see it. I'll be breaking out of the 11 stone bracket soon and into the 10's and I actually can't wait for it!

Keep up the good work everyone, and do keep the faith, it's a long term permanent Journey we want and there are no quick fixes and maybe we all just need to be patient and work the plan cos our bodies are all working in different ways.

Sorry for the second post but I just want to put up some mini goals to keep me motivated!

-3lbs gone to be into the 10's (well barely but still in the 10's!)& get my 5th silver 7

    - 6lbs and i'll have 20% gone

    - 8lbs gone and I'll be in the one forty something pound bracket and out of the one fifty something pound bracket

-10 lbs and it'll be my 3rd stone gone

I know some of them are big goals but If I could even get to the final one there by January I'd be really happy. I never thought I could be this determined and that I wouldn't fall off the wagon, but I so want change and I'm sick of being the 'fat friend'

On the subject of friends, alot of ppl are noticing the weightloss now, I was out with the girls last night and one of them commented that I now had a tiny waist, I've never bloody had a waist as I'm apple shaped so boobs and belly just all seemed to fall into one if you get me?! :D

One of the other girls who is not really one of my friends but a friend of a friend said I'd lost too much weight and it was 'falling off me' FFS nothing has 'fallen off' and really shouldn't 'friends' be supportive I've worked really hard at this and it would be nice if you could just get a Jaysus, you look great, fair play to you keep at it it's obviously doing you the power of good, but instead you get back handed compliments and ppl's own insecurities about their own weight gain or lack of loss aimed directly at you as if it's your fault they can't control it.

Anyway I started this journey for me I want to be in the healthy BMI range and once I am then I'll stop I've no desire to be a skinny mini but I do want to lose weight, get healthy and stop this runaway train of gaining weight which happened in my teens and twenties, i've never been thin but i'm sure as hell not spending my thirties being fat either! onwards and downwards!

Actually yeah....I've my appitite has gone totally scew ways....i'm just blah about food...the idea of sitting down to a big plate of food just kinda turns my stomach but then snacking is just my enemy. So I gotta kick my self up the arse and get my self into a good routine. Quiche in the oven for 10pp I'll have a full one for my lunch tomorrow in college....its lovely cold! and i costed it at like 1.20 to make...where a sandwhich in the canteen is 3.50! that alone is a reason to make my own lunch!

I just want to lose SOMETHING by christmas! 1lb a week! hell even 1/2 lb a week!

Hi need a bit of help! After finally persuading my husband to do the ww plan. I am on week 6 of class so hopefully it will be easier if we both following it. He is 5 ft 10, 43 years if age and 17 stone 6 lbs. Could anyone please tell me his daily points?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 863 ✭✭✭Eabhabear

Lainy a lb a week between now and Christmas is doable. That's my aim as well. There's 9 weeks left until the last WI before Christmas so that's 9lbs. If I manage that, it will give me my 2nd stone (at long last ) and my 5th silver seven.

I just finished my dinner and it was delish. I bulked up the sweet potato with carrots and onion and there was too much in it so I still have half left for tomorrow. I also had a skinny cow mint ice-cream for the first time. Love them and they're a decent size.

Shinnie0503 I think he's on 49pp but maybe someone with a calculator can verify that. I used a site online so don't know how reliable it is.

Good morning guys! So it's the 'day of reckoning' as I've been calling it:pac: My first day on WW pro points! I'm just after my breakfast (I'm in work) so had a bowl of porridge with semi skimmed milk and a clementine.

Have a tea break at 11am so will have a banana and a pear then and a cup of peppermint tea

Then for lunch it's a WW pitta bread, 2 slices of turkey deli meat with a tbsp of light mayo, tomato, red onion, cucumber, peppers and lettuce (hope it all fits in the pitta!) and a WW strawberry tart yogurt.

For dinner it's a fillet of smoked haddock, veg (cauliflower and brocolli - lots of it!) and 2 medium potatoes with some parsley sauce over it.

In total that's 21 points I've used so I'll still have 8 left over!! Any ideas on what I could have? I'll probably get a bit peckish later on!:pac:

Yep! Picked them up in Dunnes yesterday! They're supposed to be nice - 3 others flavours in the pack - lemon tart, raspberry and toffee apple I think!

Also got these fromage frais WW ones - they have a layer of fruit and fromage frais on top - lovely also!:pac:

AND they are only 1 POINT each!

I went to my boyfriends Aunt for dinner yesterday.. I swear i ate about 10 roast potatoes.. and then "shared" a pack of cheese and onion! I knew it was a bad idea at the time because by the time we got home i was starving again!! I tracked and pointed and guesstimated the dinner all i could do really but I'm back on track today!!

uh-oh! completely fell off the wagon at the weekend.food, booze and hangover food. didn't point the 2 days of badness. Does anyone have any tips about how to be reasonably good with a hangover? I just crave stodgy food and my willpower disappears. I know you might say not to drink but prearranged nights out are difficult, I like to have a few drinks like. When nothing is happening at weekends I won't drink at all. Ah well, will be good today and tomorrow, still, not looking forward to the weigh in tomorrow!

I usually make a huge pot of vegetable soup, not a zero soup I add 2 potatoes and eat it over the course of the day. Everytime I have a craving, I have a bowl of soup. And lots of water too. Kind of working for me at the moment.

Had a non scales victory today. last year at haloween i promised myself that i would lose this weight so that i could actually fit into a haloween costume and not be forced to buy the worst and most expensive one in the shop because its the only one that fits... well guess what? i just bought the halloween costume that i wanted after looking at loads that i liked/could afford/ could fit into (the best bit being able to fit into them). im still about 5 stone away from goal but im down over three stone so far so i know that i can do the other five as well. hope your all doing well.

    Can i just ask something?

So it turns out that I'm going out for dinner with a friend on Wednesday - we're going to a burger place so will most likely be having a beef burger and chips. I am going to be using my weekly allowance for it. Does this mean I still get the 29 points for the day as well as the points from the weekly allowance that I use for the meal?

Also how do I point the burger and chips! It depends what's on it doesn't it and also the amount of chips I get - I'm worried I won't point it right! Do you have to wing it in these situations?!

You would be the only person that would be able to guestimate the points as you would see the portion size, the sauces etc.

You have your daily plus your weekly allowance. So if you say ate 15PP out of your 29PP for breakfast and lunch, then you have the remaining 10PP plus your 49PP.

Yeah I figured that about guestimating alright! Thanks a mil for your quick response Monife!:)

That's great also that I'd have the points from the day as well as the points from the weekly allowance so maybe if I eat as little as possible during the day I can used most of the points for the burger and chips from my daily allowance...:pac:
