HMV have been doing a lot of 'Newsed' games lately. Got might and magic clash of heroes brand new but marked as used there for 8 euro.

Bargain of the century - that game is of astounding quality! :D

I'd EXACTLY the same problem with one of my megadrive IIs , an AV cable off ebay for a fiver(inc postage) later its working with full sound. So the problem is probably something on the RF modulator itself.
you could make one yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron (I made a megadrive 1 cable myself last week) , but tbh its nearly cheaper to just buy one. If you want you can pay more and go RGB , but its your call.

Well, that would have been great news if.... I hadn't opened up the console in an attempt to give it a bit of a clean, and then the thing stopping working alltogether upon reassembley :(

I might try and get it working again but I really should just go and buy a Mega Drive 1 as I've always wanted one of those as the first part of a Mega Drive 1 / Mega CD 1 / 32X combo unit. Yeah I know some people hate the sight of that, but to me it looks amazing :o

I got Star Fox Command for €12 brand new with Nintendo wrapping on it unopened with a re-play HMV sticker on it last week. Didnt want to open it lol. Its an ok game, havent really given it my full attention just yet. Got it in HMV Henry St.

Which HMV shop did you get that Kirby DS game? How much was it? Think I want a copy. Is it any good?

Oh and is Wario any use?

Seem to be getting back into DS games as of late, due to there being no 3ds games atm. They look great on the 3ds screen too!

I got Kirby from GAME in Dundrum. They had another copy of it there as well. I have seen it in GAME Dawson St. too. It was €16. Its a straight forward Nintendo platformer basically. It does nothing revolutionary but looks lovely and is fun to play. The central gimmick is absorbing enemy powers and sometimes mixing them up to create new powers.

Wario on DS wasn't made by Nintendo and its severly lacking in Nintendo magic as a result. Nintendo seemingly did very litle supervising of the project as it came out as a pretty weak platformer with some very dodgy controls. I'd only recommend it for completion purposes only as its one of the worst Nintendo published platformers since Yoshi's Universal Gravitation on the Game Boy Advance.

Strangely, Wario DS has been sealed in a very odd fashion - instead of the seal being horizontal like normal it appears vertically sealed for some reason - probably a factory mistake. If you want a a really good DS platformer that is less well known I'd recommend The Legendary Starfy on import, Super Princess Peach, which is superb, and the highly underrated Ivy the Kiwi - one of the best games on the format in my view, even though it is very short.

    Legendary Starfy is fantastic!

Ivy the Kiwi should be dirt cheap if you can find it in a HMV.

I forgot about this one while I was just stacking some games away, I popped my PCB cherry last week when my first PCB arrived in the post.

One of my favourite games in the arcade that (correct me if I am wrong) never received a home conversion, neither did it's prequel. I love both games very much, the isometric viewpoint and attention to detail is blissful!

This PCB is the joystick version too. Hooray. :)

Cheers. No flippin MAK Strike to play it on though right now. :(

I'm going to try and get the first game too and a similar title, Carlos Sainz World Rally but I think that game is steering wheel only.

hey we had result J!: I got two parcels , one of them with two 3 button joypads , the other with a M1 PSU.Mailed him to see if he's split it into 3 , probably being optimistic here though.
    Incredibly , it arrived today!
With a delivery docket attached that as far as I can see looks like it ended up in Lima , Peru , and then was sent back to Dublin. The dates all match up as well!
How the hell that happened , since he had sent a 2nd parcel at the same time that arrived I have no idea.
Downside is I now have a spare MD 1..oh well ;)

    I said I wouldn't buy anymore games for a while but..... couldn't resist :D

I found some superb bargains today, all factory sealed in a baragin bill in PC World. I was like a pig in **** in that bargain bin when I spied it today :p This is what I picked up:

Nintendo Presents Crossworld Collection (DS) - €4

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (DS) - €7.50

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit or Whatever Its Called (Xbox 360) - €12

Mystery Case Files Millionaire (DS) - €5

Delighted with that little haul to be honest - getting a factory sealed Layton for €7.50 is particularly good.....

Harvey Normal (my own favourite bargain stop) had the first one for twenty squids new recently enough. Check out your local Curry's or PC World and you might find the second and third games for a good price - best of luck :)

oops, I bought Wario Master of D... at the weekend for €5, havent looked at it yet, but guess it must be the boob DS game, ah well, I have it anyway.
Will keep an eye out for that Kirby game in GAME over the next couple of weeks.
Had a look on amazon for 'The Legendary Starfy' £11, looks really nice, may buy it in 10 mins, just need to read some reviews first, thanks Mr V!

Had a good hall of games DS games this week, no point uploading a pic for them as they are not retro  Is the DS retro yet?
    But I got myself

Might & Magic €5, love it! and I dont really like RPG's, guess I do now.
    Wario.... £5
New Zealand Story Revolution £6 on amazon.
Metroid Prime Hunters £4 on amazon.
    Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword £4
    Rainbow Island Revolution €5

Also got Super Mario Sunshine in CEX(how do you pronounce the shop name) for €10 tonight, saw it beside the Galaxy games, you wouldnt see it mixed in there and the GCN games were all down the bottom shelve. Pleased with that as I stupidly sold my copy on last year but still have the save file on my Wii, loved SMS!

Those are some excellent bargains there mate - no harm in having Wario in the collection - the box art is pretty cool and its a game that is fun to play for a while - its just that its the weakest in the series in general opinion. Still though, for a fiver you can't go wrong and it will easily be worth more than that in the coming years.

I actively collect for DS, and have done for quite some time now. Its the only current gen system that I collect for. Every other machine I buy games to play - with DS I tend to buy games to play there and then, but also to play in the future, or because I believe they are going to be hard to find in the long term. As such, I have a big backlog on the system right now, but it is nice to have a big stock of games to play whenever you need to get stuck into something.

Whilst the DS isn't my favourite handheld ever, and its line-up in my view is not as good as the Game Boy Advance, it is a format that is home to some great games. I'm not a huge fan of the touch screen in general, and the machine has few arcade-style games, but there are some truly remarkable RPGs and puzzlers on the format, plus its a system that is good to collect for as games can be bought easily enough today in shops and online in very good condition for low prices. It does have some rare games such as Suikoden Tierkreis, Fire Emblem and Maetro: Jump in Music too to keep you interested as you browse in the likes of GAME and HMV.

I think the DS is going to be the home of a lot of rare games in the future. I'm actively collecting for it too because I don't want to havet to pay a fortune for these games in a years time. I think it's not only the best handheld ever I'm pretty sure it's beaten the SNES for my favourite console ever. Some many fantastic games on it and for an RPG nut like me it's by far the best console for JRPGs ever.
