Well now, in fairness, sometimes AH comes up trumps with proper advice.

    What's your advice??

In fairness, it's hardly the most pressing problem anyone has to face. For one it's flattering that someone is interested in being in your company and at the same time I'd be shocked if you had to spend more than 45minutes in this persons company 3 days a week, assuming this is a degree course.

Just take her aside one day and say 'listen luv, I know you probably dont mean it but your personality is a bit annoying and I would prefer not to be in your company.

    Thanks missy!

Yes, I know I have to say something to her but how do you tell someone that they are annoying and a compulsive liar?!? Straight out?

I'm thinking if I just say "You're wrecking my head" she might cop on to fuk off away from me...

    Nay a bother :)

Well I suppose if she comes out with another cracker, I'd turn around and say "well thats not really true, now is it?" or "jesus, if I have heart burn, you say you've a heart attack" Really start to show her you're losing patience with her horse-shit.

Never discuss after college plans in front of her, and just arrange to meet up with the others on their own. Put the ball back somewhat in her court, if she approaches you and asks why she's being left out, tell her that you're a grown adult and can choose who you would like to spend time with.

You're not being a bitch here, she's put you into an awkward position, so she's just going to have to take what you end up saying to her.

No, but maybe you could approach the situation in a mature way, i.e not asking AH for advice.

Would somebody mature offer some advice instead of being a little whinge?

I'm not sure how to get rid of somebody like that. You see them everyday, so it is just awkward. Introduce her to new people and hope she likes them better :pac:

A friend of mine is a mature student in UCD and has had a similar person attach themselves to him. Always has to one up everybody with stories etc. Seems there is always one wherever you go.

Send her a text message calling her a galloping fuckbox or something but make it look like you sent it to her by accident and it was meant for someone else. Be all like:

Mary is SUCH a galloping fuckbox. & a compulsive liar. Don't u jst hate dat bout her? neway Im meeting David Norris later, something about underpants call u 2mor xx

One of the most important elements of college is having a friend you actually don't like. You'd be doing yourself a disservice eliminating her from your life.

Last year, girl in my class clung onto myself and another classmate - following us every where, asking what we were doing, where we were going all the time. She's also a compulsive liar. You'd tell a story and she'd have a similar story only better. It actually got a bit much. So much so, that I ended up not going into college a lot of the time.

What can I do? How do you tell someone they are annoying without hurting their feelings? I did ignore her after a while but that's not nice either :o

Any tactful way of doing it???
On a more serious note, you just have to confront her with this, not in an aggressive manner, but be calm and collective. You may not notice, but she might not have any other people she feels comfortable with. The compulsive lying may sound juvenile, but it's a way to get attention which she might not have/received.
Approach it like a man OP.She might have her own problems.

People like this are common. From my experience they're not bad people, just insecure and desperate for friendship. Call her on all the lies, and soon she'll stop. She's just insecure and lonely and once the lies stop and friendship is established she'll probably end up being the most loyal friend you could have.

Be a big cranky-hole with her and make yourself the kind of person SHE doesn't want to be around.

Whinging? I didn't start the thread, but a bit of perspective would be nice for a change on AH.

Every time she tells a lie, reply with one ten times worse. See if she notices. Something like....

Cling-On: Yeah so this really cute guy/girl asked me out last night.
Larianne: That's nothing. A billionaire whisked me away to Madagascar last night

Well for me it is. Starting back at college next week is already filling me with dread that this girl is going to be around.

My course is full time so 5 days a week. We have a lot of practical classes so she's around then, then at lunch time, when I go to the computer room, when I go to the library.... hasn't followed me into the toilet yet..

    Thanks for your help though.

See lads, this is the problem. She's clinging onto me and another girl because she has annoys everyone else.

Okay, time to play hardball this year.

Phase her out! Start avoiding, talk to them but don't be overly enthusiastic, dont answer phonecalls or reply to text messages!

she clings on to you cause your not popular and she has low standards due to her equal un-popularity

When she follows you to the computer room, let her see your boards username.

If she is as nosy as most women, she'll go through all your posts and find this thread. Put a picture of her in the OP just so there's no confusion who you're talking about.

Try to confront her before you get angry/flip out/beat the SH!t out of her.

Agree with lack of confidence, I would play it polite but distant.

your not seeing the upside here at all.....you have someone that needs you...be mean...ask for 50 euro...and refuse to give it back after 3 weeks saying..tommorrow ill giv it back...........tell her to meet you at a pub/club then later text her..saying we,ve moved onto (insert pub/club name) ....why not do it 3 times in one night..................

soon enough she,ll grow so bitter she,ll either ignore you thinking it,ll lead to you being upset and wanting to repay/apologise........or she,ll explode and start a fight ...resulting in you looking as the good guy in front of everyone but her....and her never speaking to you again..............

possible...side effects include...being brought to the small claims court for 50 euro and being a bitch related suicide of your friend..........you,ve been for-warned........
