Actually I was thinking. Do the wristbands include the Academy for Calvin Harris? It's not on the list so...
The halls weekend, and the college week are two seperate events.
Calvin harris is Ents, halls weekend is JCR, so no.
If you have to make a choice between wristbands, I would really advise you to go on the halls nights outs, it'll make much mroe of a difference to your year.
Also, don't be afraid to approach people, and go out with your apartment on the first night. Go knocking on doors looking for people to meet up with, have a few drinks in another apartment, and head out together. Do that every night for the first week, and choose your friends from there!

Anyone know yet what speakers The Phil and Hist are getting in for Freshers week.

Want to know that too.:) Brand and model please.
    They have their own set.

I think the OP means what guest speakers they're getting in :)

Nothing on either of the societies' facebooks yet!

Can we get wristbands for both? They don't clash right?

Will it make much of a difference if you don't live in Halls, like for freshers week? Because those in halls would have gone out the weekend before freshers week, and gotten to know their housemates and neighbours, whereas someone not living in halls and probably just moving up that weekend wouldnt know anyone?!:o

Not sure about Freshers week in particular but the ones that I remember during last year that I went to/tried to go and see were the likes of :

    Gordon Brown
    Stephen Fry
Ban Ki-moon (Secretary-General of the United Nations)
    Jack Dorsey (creator of Twitter)
    Michael Birch (creator of Bebo)
    Niklas Zennstrom (creator of Skype)

Can't remember any others but from the list you can see that they aren't messing around... They do get huge people to come in and talk.

There's loads of societies/sports clubs I'd love to be involved with but, from experience I know I'll only be able to be active in one or two throughout the year.

BUT, I still want to join some of the big ones to ensure I can go to events like when they get big speakers in etc.

So, do you think I'd have to join Phil, Hist, Comedy AND Players. Or would I be able to get away with joining one or two of them which would cover most of the events? Cos I know a lot of em overlap. (e.g. for Florence last year I think you needed to be a member of either Players or Comedy or something like that!)

So you have to buy a wristband to last the 1st weekend (trinity halls orientation weekend), and then another wristband to last the actual trinity orientation week?

That was part of the Fringe Festival which is a joint Comedy/Players event, that's why you needed to be a member of one or the other. Outside of the Fringe, Comedy offers comedy and Players offers (mostly) plays :) Depends which you'd rather see I guess!

The trinity ents wristbands are on sale from the student unions office in college. Not sure about the other wrist band. Basically the ents band gives you free access into the chosen club for that night. The event lasts 1 full week.

They are €10 and can only be bought on showing either your acceptance letter to the college or your college ID from what I can remember.

Sure that's a bargain and a half! I may have misplaced my acceptance letter however...

It says on the Trinity Ents facebook page that wristbands can be bought via the facebook page; you're not going to need your acceptance letter or id card for that?

What sort of acceptance letter did ye get? I dont think I got any! I received the orientation pack but thats it!

The Ents ones are always 30-40e, think the JCR ones are 10

Sorry I just remembered there that I got this wrist band the same time that I got my student travel card. For that travel card you need your letter of acceptance from the CAO. :P

It's funny how you can forget these things that only happened last year! :D

was looking at last years thread... most people said that they only needed their CAO number, photo ID and some brought confirmation of payment

no mention of needing any CAO-official-stuffs :D
