Strange thing actually...she has parents. And...weird this one...they have spoken to other people in the area.

I'll bet they've a fair bit of speaking to do with you! :pac:

If that happens nowadays you'd better wipe all your hard drives, flash memory and burn any cd & dvd you have laying around just in case.
I find it easier just to not store child pornography in the first place.;)

...When I remember that nice new Dove shower gel that I bought...

House is empty, so no problems just turning on my heels and heading to the other bathroom to get the shower gel.

    Opens bedroom...

And standing there is a 3 year old girl. Cue mutual screams.

I don't have a 3 year old girl by the way...she just decided to leave herself into my house, walk up the stairs and stand outside my bedroom.

Parents....do you know where your kids are? Cause you know...they could be perving on innocent grown men.

(The child was Polish, this probably makes no difference, but who knows...it could be a polish passage of rite...)

    Leave herself???

What do you think you mean by that?

    C'mon man.

I ran back into the shower and hoped that she found her own way out of the house.

Never crossed your mind she might be lost?

Jesus, what the feck is a 3 yr old out on her own for ??

Shambolic parenting, my girl is 4 and I would never let her out on her own.

Parents need a boot up the ass

Exactly. And we get to the real point of this thread. It's a secluded enough neighbourhood...but still...

    lol!

    no.

Why not??? It's a 3 years old girl! I don't understand how any adult person can just leave a child like that. What if she went somewhere else and something happened to her? How did you know she was Polish?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 845 ✭✭✭softmee

Leave the parents -they might not care or whatever - its EVERY ADULT who should be responsible for children safety. If your child would be lost somehow - how would you feel if someone would meet him/her and just left alone?
I dont understand what exactly happened in OP situation, but I just dont get it really.

3 year old girl or master thief? She could have cleaned you out if you didn't go looking for shower gel
That would be a good scam all the same, lad downstairs fleecing the place, brings his kid along so saves on getting a babysitter, if you did go downstairs he says "oh sorry is my kid here, I saw her run in". Or just waits outside and see if she comes out to say the coast is clear.

How did she get in? How come you don't lock your doors?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,125 ✭✭✭Killer Pigeon

Suuuuure. The door was conveniently left wide open and there was a trail of cookies that lead up all the way to the bathroom...

... remember not to drop the soap.

OP, keep your front door locked and for more reasons than the child.

Something similar happened to a man I know. It was years ago before PCness and he was in a friend's house. He went for a slash without locking the bathroom door and his friend's little girl wandered in. He turned round to face her* without thinking and told her to get out. He never thought to mention it to her parents as it didn't loom that large in his consciousness.

The next day he had his jaw broken by her father because the child had told them at tea that evening that ******* had shown her his willy.

*No, before you ask, he didn't blast her with piss.

all the doors here are either locked by key or can be easily opened by the handle.

Do you live near Clondalkin Village by any chance? Just asking because a mate of mine lives around there and all the houses in the little estate all have doors like that. You have keep the front door locked constantly or it can be opened by anyone from the outside. It makes her paranoid. She's told me she gets up in the middle of the night to check it in case someone forgot to lock it after coming in. And I was going out with her one day and we had to turn around and drive back to her house because she wasn't sure if she locked the door or not. Its not a good area to have doors like that. Some people have had their doors replaced but she doesn't have the money to do that.

OP, maybe you should go around to the parents and explain what happened. Just in case she says something vague about it to them first and there's a misunderstanding. Make sure you ask them to have a talk to their daughter about letting herself into other people's houses, especially for her own safety.

Is there anything unusual about this? I think every door can be open if not locked,no?

Her front door can be opened by turning the handle from the outside unless its locked.

My front door is like most people's front doors, and needs a key to open it from the outside whether its locked or not.

If you need a key it means its locked... I know what kind of doors you are talking about (pain if you go out to trough rubbish and forget the key - I've locked myself out like this few times) - its not like you can open them from inside with just handle -there is a little thing on a lock you have to twist.

"Buy Dove and get young love"

"Buy Dove and get a Pole in the Hole"

    Dear Deirdre,
I have an issue with a girl that I fancy, she is 15 years younger than me and I'm worried as to what people will think/say when they see us together. It's really effecting our relationship. Can you help?
    Thanks,
    Abouttobebanned.

    Dear Abouttobebanned,
Don't worry what people will say or think, after all age is only a number. Enjoy being with that special someone.
    Deirdre

She let herself in again today (likes what she saw maybe?)

Anyway, I was just cooking dinner (clothed), she said she wanted to see the baby (in scattered english) so we showed her the baby, she robbed a chip and then was on her way. Now...her house is around the corner from ours and i think it's crazy that they let her just waltz around the neighbourhood. Can't really say anything though...

Mind you..if something did happened and a news crew came knocking, I wouldn't think twice about highlighting the neglect of the parents.
