Odell Double Pilsner a lovely crisp beer with another citrus flavour hitting you then a lovely alcohol hint.

It's a confusing beer as you feel it's a pils type then the aftertaste isn't pils tasting. Hope that makes sense !

I had a bottle of that last night, Interesting beer alright.

The description is exactly that, initially its pilsnery then the aftertaste is sort of grainy with an alcohol hit. Quite nice.

Have some M&S beers tonight first off... Staffordshire IPA

Slight citrus aroma, but more earthy, herbal and English.
    Medium bodied, nice bitterness.
Taste is quite typical of an english IPA, its ok.

Another Odell this time the Myrcenary.

Great DIPA - hoppy and slight spice hint with a lovely fruity taste also. Less sweet than other DIPA's which I think really makes this a hit for me.

    Wish I had more !!!!

Just had a bottle of spitfire from Lidl. 2 for 3 euro. Yeah not a bad brew actually, nice in fact. Hell of a lot nicer than bishops finger thats for sure.

Wouldn't buy it for 1.99 a pop though.;)

Sipping on Hoegaarden tonight. It's gorgeous. Such a breath of fresh air. Been having it on and off lately, and safe to say it's my favourite beer. Just wish some pubs in my area would serve it, but no. Drink of the gods!

Also have some Tiger, Dunnes were doing a six for €6 offer. Hard not to say no. Again, another quality beer.

Both heartily recommended, which in turn were recommended to me by the good boardsie grenache of these parts.

Just been at Against the Grain today, finally got to taste O'Hara IPA. It deserves the praise I've heard about it, very well rounded with a very sublte hoppness (?), almost on the sweet side of this.

I've also got to try the Blue Moon (brewed by Blue Moon, who'd have guessed ?), a very nice American weissbier. I just had a sip of it, but it tasted much like Hooegarden - sweet and spicy, albeit with a different spice mix. Great stuff altogether, nicely compliments some fish dishes or can just be enjoyed as a nice summer beer.

And yeah, Hop Head on cask is brilliant. And I've discovered that it goes amazingly well with a Tripel Karmeliet - they're so different, and yet so complementary. Bitterness of the HH and sweetness of the Tripel, hops flavour versus cereals, natural aromas and spices... Aww man.

Tried River Horse Tripel Horse last night. Not me cup of team at all it was a little too sweet for me.

There was a hint of spice also in the taste and it almost reminded me of Grimbergen blonde but just much more sweet than that.

I thought this was brewed by Coors

After a bit of reseearch, turns out it is indeed. The "Blue Moon BrewCo" label fooled me. Oh well, I guess they can brew good stuff after all ?

Went to the Bierhaus last night. Tried a few interesting beers, Gordons scotch ale was really good. Also tried Kwak, Rochefort no.6 and no.8. Preferred no.6. I also tried Brooklyn Local 1 and 2 which was my favourite :D

Bluemoon - Yeah they also have it on tap in Dublin airport T2.

I have had worse beers than Blue Moon to be honest.

Yep its usually where I go to.

I have had many issues trying to get beer up there. Not enough staff and I shouldnt have to wait 15 mins for a pint.

Potenial is there all the same.

Staff clueless about the beer. Clearly not trained. 1) You open the tap fully to avoid a huge head and 2) I need to get a flight in an hour...you won't get fired for pouring some of that 6 inch head down the drain.

Just back from a weekend in Waterford.

Helvic Gold is now on cask in the bar of the Cliff House in Ardmore ... They've always stocked the bottles but it's nice to be able to settle in for a series of cask-drawn pints now too.

Also had the chance to try 8 Degrees Howling Gale Pale Ale by the bottle in O'Brien's Chop House, Lismore. I thought it was pretty good but perhaps not my favourite 'take' on pale ale.

Was drinking a few bottles of "Duché de Longueville Cider" over the weekend.

Goes down easy, but not recommended drinking it before any of the Irish crap - it makes drinking the Irish crap harder, as it's made with fresh juice of Gros Oeillet apples as opposed to the crap here that's made with apple concentrate.

Never heard of that one before, but I see it's from the Pays de Caux - which is a pretty positive indicator. Where did you find that one ? I'm dying for breton/normand cider !

Edit : just saw that is was made by the guys who make Loïc Raison, which is see over there as mass-produced stuff, and often frowned upon. Not the best cider around, but I had a cidergasm when I went back to Brittany and had a glass of it after 9 months of the odd Bulmers or Aspalls. So my question still stands :D

About to try a can of London's Pride(Normally I have it in a bottle or in a glass). From what I remember its a pertinent little number with a perky finish, lets hope it lives up to my thirsty expectation

Guinness foreign extra, served 'off the shelf'. Inspired by recent threads and a bottle of Guinness in my local pub yesterday, I spotted this in Dunnes this evening, and decided to give it a bash. Much closer to the O'Haras stout that I know and love. Full of flavour with a small alcohol punch. Certainly my favourite of the Guinness products.

For what it's worth, I've seen bottles of it at Blackrock's Superquinn. They also had a fair few O'Hara bottles (red, IPA, curim) and Porterhouse stuff as well.

And Affligem blonde - maybe because they won a gold medal last month ? : p

One of my favorite ales, where did you buy them?, I see that drinkstore have them, haven't tried them in cans so will give them a go and if its good, buy some for the electric picnic.

www.obrienswine.ie - had to goto Malahide as everywhere else was sold out, but give one of the stores a call, and check if any stores near you have it. €4.99 here... I think it was €1.50 when I was in Nantes... :pac:

Just got some Aspall's "draught" cider in bottles, really getting to like it even though it is a tiny bit to sweet for my taste, its also a bit steep at 4.99 a bottle, would get it more if I could find it for 3 - 3.50 or so, its around £1.90 (€2.18) a bottle in the UK.
