Do you have proof that the Gardaí are actually bashing people?? That is a pretty big accusation....

If I'm to believe the Gardaí who told me, then yes -"rolleyes" indeed

That was one incedent, you can't assume its representative of them as a whole.

There was 4 of them in fairness, I know quite a few personally from outside of there profession, I feel from being in the UK quite a bit there police force is sooooo much better and way more polite:)

4 guards does not equate to an entire police force.

I hope they are beating up people in custody. I thought they had gone too soft. Would be nice to hear they cared after all

No, what they need is proper sentencing. If someone shows up in court with 124 previous convictions - give them 10 years mandatory, no bs suspended sentences. People criticize the USA for it's high prison population, but having lived there I can tell you there are a LOT less criminals walking the streets than here.
Won't work here as you would be going against their civil liberties and all the junk which the PC bunch use.

Never said it did but more often than not even when your just asking a question or going up to get your passport forms sorted, they do tend to be really impolite. Even though I do find the older ones tend to be nicer, Maybe its because the young ones feel they have something to prove or something:confused:

That's the problem with this country, anyone who goes against the general consensus is said to be 'bashing' them. E.g. questioning if the public sector wages are too high given our current deficit = public sector bashing. Questioning the catholic church's handling of child rape = church bashing. Questioning the behaviour of our police force = garda bashing. I guess we should all just shut up and keep our opinions to ourselves.

the reason people die in garda stations is because of the kind of people brought to garda stations are generally drug addicts and alcoholics, im amazed everyday walking through dublin at how bad the drug addicts look, most are on deaths door. if we are to be honest, its no loss to society when one dies.

    Gross generalisation tbh.

As I said I am not saying all guards are rude, I am just saying way to many of them are and Should be called on it and appropriate action taken more often. I think they get away with things way to often;)

You did when you said the UK police force was friendlier and more polite.

For someone who has had only one dealing with the guards you seem to have had a lot of dealings with the guards. Quit painting all guards with the one brush. We've all had bad encounters with guards, doctors, shop assistants etc but it doesn't mean that they are all like that.

If I have a bad experience with a doctor or shop assistant I would change my shop or doctor, You cant do that with a guard. I would just like to see guards who want to serve the community rather than intimidate so much.

Hold on a second there chief. Just because someone is an alcoholic or a drug addict doesn't mean they deserve to die.

I never said the Uk police force was perfect, just feel way better than the Gardai. Just to get it out there I really have nothing against the Gardai what so ever.

Well I live next door to the biggest night club in my city so I would see them do there job quite often, there is a different 4 guards in court at the moment for assaulting a man right outside my door in Waterford last year. I have seen some brilliant guards but alot just dont do there job properly in my opinion and I am entitled to my opinion

It goes without saying that there are obviously good and bad in every profession and in every walk of life. TBH, I have had very little experience or interaction with members of an Garda Siochana but on the occasions that our paths have crossed (I was injured in two separate road traffic accidents) the Gardai I met were very professional and incredibly helpful.

I remember one time when my husband was away for a weekend at a rugby match in Cardiff and during that weekend two gardai arrived at my door. I almost fainted when I answered the door to be confronted by two Gardai. I became very upset and before they could open their mouths, I said "Did he have an accident, where is he, is he dead?"... Turns out that the Gardai were in the wrong area and they were calling about about something fairly trival. They knew I got an awful shock so they insisted on making me tea :o

Your opinion is wrong. Very wrong.

Since you started posting in this thread you've gone from having no dealings with the guards to having dealt with 4 to seeing the entire citys police force in action.

I meant I have never been arrested, I live next to a busy night club so when I am sitting in my sitting room, (like now for example) If a fight breaks out or anything happens I can pretty much see it from my front window. You seem to want to defend the force to the last, there is good guards but way to many bad ones. Your wrong if you thing my opinion is wrong:rolleyes:

were you refused entry to AGS? is this why you have that big chip on your shoulder?

I am just talking from my experience obviously I cant talk for every Guard in the country, just to clarify I dont think the guards eat children or anything, I know they are normal every day people but I dont think they get held accountable enough.
