Just thought I'd sound off on my thoughts in regard to the balance AE has.

For starters, I definitely agree that Yun is top tier, no doubt about that. That said, I can count the amount of people using Yun who have beaten me online on one hand. He is terrifying if you know what your doing but he is a complete joke to fight against otherwise. The key to beating him is to keep him out. As such, I can't really say he is OP. Very strong but not unbeatable is more like it.

As for characters that got nerfed, depends on the character and player, some characters were drastically affected by the nerfs they got ( ie Guile - though Doom can still do well with him imo ) but some Characters it didn't really much of a difference ( Honda got a damage nerf but as we saw at the Evo Qualifier, it didn't really effect Stev0 at all )

As for the characters that got buffed, some of them are drastically different to their Super counterparts ( remember when Makoto was bottom tier in Super? I had to remind myself that she'd gotten huge buffs in AE the first time I came up against her on Day 1 ) some have gotten better and others the buffs just weren't enough.

That said, I think AE has resulted in a more rounded and fun experience in general - There are still slow matches in the game but it doesn't feel as slow as Super for some reason. The top tiers are very strong but not unbeatable ( not to mention, I found the twins to be more fun to play than I expected ) which is what counts imo.

    Just mt two cents.

How did I manage to post all that without talking about my main!? :pac:

The number of very good Yuns is beginning to rise at a very quick pace. Maybe it was just (bad) luck but I ran into several very strong Yuns last night. If he gets in against DeeJay, it turns into a guessing game for me. It's very hard to get away from him once he is in.

I'm not looking forward to playing Onion if he can make it to the Glacial Super League. I played for ages against a very good Makoto after the end of GSL2 but I have played some good Makotos online in AE and she has gotten incredible buffs. Will have to work at the match-up again or no way I am beating him

    Evo schedule: http://evo2k.com/?page_id=448

Surprisingly enough, if thats in order, it looks like MvC3 will be the main event. Kinda wanted AE to be the main event so it wouldnt have been just Dreddy, Speedboat, Onion and I up at 7am watching the stream.

MvC3 makes sense from the viewing figures on my channel tbh. Thousands of random people just looking for MvC stuff.

Also, they can go on about how Daigo gets beaten in the "main event" now :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 955 ✭✭✭GorySnake

Mr Wizard was on the Wakeup SRK podcast a while ago saying he felt that MvC3 was gonna be the main event, but I think this was before AE was even announced. Also since AE was released it seems to be back as the main event in the majority of tournaments I've seen (although I might be wrong there).

It's a bit nebulous on if it's on last from what I see there.

Main event should be whichever has the most entrants

The one schedule that seems to be without times is Sunday, so it may be that they will still switch it up. Both games are pretty hype in their owns ways, but personally I prefer watching AE as I dont play MvC3, not to mention a Stevo final in AE would certainly have to be main event!

Can you still get it early on steam or do I have to wait until tomorrow ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭blag

I think they removed the pre-load option after they realised everyone was just launching it from the folder.

yea what blag said, if you already started the download on steam you can continue it but you can't start the pre-load, people on the steam forums are saying you can still use an torrented iso and your steam cd key but i'm not sure of the legality/possible ramifications for your GFWL account, personally i'd wait the 27 hours + download time just to be sure but if you're feeling risqué...if they're smart they'll put the pre-load back up say 8 hours before release so you don't have to wait ages to download it after release...but this is steam so who knows.

btw liam add me or ill find you :P need some fun fights with no lag, sorry if that sounded like a threat, but it was. lol :D

I think I'll just buy the disc for pc it's a tenner cheaper and I'm hoping I can install through steam so I don't need the disc to play and yes Aeon I 'll add you whenever I get it:D

    Has anyone seen 8. Rex0r vs. Floe (UFGT7 – Marvel vs. Capcom 3)? I can't find it!

Online play in the PC version is apparently better than the console versions:
TS|Arturo Sanchez: Damn, have to hand it to Capcom for their optimization techniques. The game loads fast as hell, and [the] netplay is pretty good.

Rod Breslau: [Is it] better than console?

DMG|PR Balrog: PC is a lot better than console.

    TS|Arturo Sanchez: Yep.

Isn't it GFWL they probably run on the same servers as XboxLive. The thing is on Xbox all you have to worry about is the other persons connection where as on PC it's connection and computer and what settings they are play it on so a lot more variable. I 'd like to see how little the lag is on a good connection though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

Under what metrics is the PC online "better"?

  • Moderators Posts: 5,598 ✭✭✭Azza

Performance of your opponents PC is irrelevant as long as the they have set the frame rate to fixed in the options menu as opposed to variable.

Is anyone else finding the download for this on steam painfully slow?
