    Nice one, pgibbo.

I'm hoping you are one of many "HIM" individuals on the S/C/R challenge, that are secretly caning it for an IM:)

    Best of luck with it.

Thought I'd fire up this thread again as the IM season is underway.

IM Austria this weekend and a few Irish I'll be tracking

    Boardsie: KingQuez: #692
Racing as FPRO: Joyce Wolfe #60
Possible sub9 Irish Record: Matt Molloy #1774, Brian Reville (if its the one I'm thinking of) # 697

Yep, I'm following his blog on tritalk. Impressive wins at Bala and Windsor and his 100m TTs in circa 4:50s, Marathons in 2:40 and 3.8k OW races in 47-48 range all stack up to that ballpark. As long as he can string it all together yes I think he will feature on the front page of the TI website next week.

I wonder will he then hold onto it for long. LCD is racing in the US in November I believe... my understand of most of the US course are they are generally faster than any of the europeans due to lack of climbing and wind. The swim will of course hold him back a bit.

His running seems to be his weakest disipline if you could call it that. Very strong swim and bike
Some niggling issues with running since Lodon marathon when I ran with him for a few miles. He did 2: 44 so I'm sure he'll sort everything out on the day.

I reckon you could be right. He has had a 50 min swim.

Swim is his strongest of the 3 I think. Will be interested to see what he bikes.

Looks like he is on for a 4:45 bike... at this rate he could walk the run and come in under 9 ;)

On a serious note, I think he will be closer to 8.30 than 9 at this stage.

Some going. Even more impressive that he is 42.

Athlete tracker all fooked up on Ironmanlive.

Great start to the race, nearly texted Dolan to tell him his record was gone. The drop off in pace on the last three splits is concerning though.

Its a nice run course so if he hasn't overcooked the bike he should nail it.

4:05 on the bike so far, 19.42 miles to go. Last 20 miles is a fast one so he should be off the bike in 4:50 or so.

Gives hime 3:15 or so to get under 9. Should do it.

Great going from Molloy but yeah the bike splits are dropping last 3 checks, still he could stroll 3:10 for the record if he has the legs left..

    KingQuez 63 swim, nice going...

Joyce wolfe 11th of the FPROs out of the water with a 58 and seems to be having a solid bike...

Jesus a 4:15 bike from Van Hoenacker and he is at 5min per mile pace on the run... flippin hell!!

Anyone know the weather over there? There are bits on the run that are very causthrophic(??) in the heat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

Matt was 1st out of the water but 9 in before him on the bike, considering he is on sub9 pace the 40-44 AG is serious! Optimal running conditions IMO..

    Weather for Klagenfurt, Austria

Molloy 0:50 swim 4:54 bike so ballpark 3:10 marathon needed.. come on Matt!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,585 ✭✭✭✭tunney

Ignoring the first run split as that looks like it has T2 in it the second one is not good. 0.49 miles in 4:03, 8:13 per mile. He should be out of the park now and its a straight flat shaded run to the first turn around. Next 3.49 miles will tell alot.

Looks like he is on track, 1:29 through the halfway mark on the run. Great going

Should be fine for the record but sub nine could be tight.

Yeah he will need to hold similiar pace for the 2nd half for sub 9 by the looks of it. What was the previous Irish best?
