Here's some nice news. American Ty Tryon . An 84 on day one. And starts day two with an outward nine that includes two bogeys and a pair of double bogeys. His score was 19 over. He may be lying at the bottom of the table in 156th spot but you want to know about what he's just done on the first at the start of his incoming nine? An EAGLE....yep, an eagle two on the par four - the second eagle of the whole tournament so far. Brilliant. He's only 25 shots behind McIlroy.

    make that 27

I know it's early days, but at the rate he's going Tiger Woods 2000 U.S. Open 15 stroke win could be under threat...
Wow, he just eagled the 8th, that gives him a 7, yes SEVEN shot lead over Zach Johnson

Rory is currently playing on a different level to the field
reminds me of a young butch coached Tiger making it look sickenly easy

He seems to be playing a different golf course to the rest of the field. I really hope he keeps this together, it will shut alot of people (mostly yanks) up!

-8 after 24 holes round congressional in a US Open, wow this is phenomonal, if he keeps this up he can have hes 80 on Day 4 and still walk it.

RMac tearing it up. -4 thru 8 holes. 7 shots up.

reminds me of.... well nothing actually!

rorys breaking new ground here... leading majors now with a regularity not seen before by a 23 year old.

he's like star trek... ( to boldly go where no one has gone before ) except not ****.

Or even a 22 year old for that matter ;)

Bunker shot has come up short - twenty odd feet for birdie. McIlroy -10 leading by 7

Still on course to claim the Saturday Slam so...

My heart goes out to anyone that's backed Rors. I sincerely hope that he closes this one out but I genuinely expect another spectacular collapse (accompanied by the usual horsesh1te on Twitter). But it'll be all okay 'cause "Rors" will have plenty more chances to win a Major (just like Sergio).

Some golf by Mc llroy, this puts it into perspective how well he is playing. he has already broke the US open record for quickest into double figures under par and if he stays -10 or better for rest of round, will have US open record for lowest 36 hole total. U could watch his swing all day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

Rory clearly needs to card a double bogey just to settle his nerves here.... this ripping it up with birdies is obviously going to end in tears.

about half way round yesterday rory was 4/1
then it was 2/1 a few holes later

Don't get me wrong...I hope McIlroy wins. I just don't think that he will (even now). Too much arrogance masking too much fragility.
