Also, Powerade, Gatorade & Lucozade aren't Energy drinks.

I get so much pleasure drinking a can of redbull. Or trying a new energy drink that I haven't seen before.

Probable have around 4-7 drinks a week.

Drank ten cans of red bull one after the other one time, was mad... Was mega hyper for about and hour, then felt sick and nearly fell asleep, then another rush...

Got the runs the next day too...

All in all not one of my better ideas.

I chug a Lucozade Sport before bed when I've been hard drinking. I drink rarely these days, so hangovers can be awful after even 3-4 pints. The lucozade definitely helps.

These days, I see people knocking back Red Bull at 6 or 7 in the morning, office workser and construction workers alike. It cannot be healthy, and seems to be mostly people who smoke too (addictive personalities perhaps?)

It cannot be healthy to drink these all the time, they have a lot more crap in them than tea or coffee.

People seem to be using these drinks as a substiture for fitness. You get tired from eating\drinking crap, and not getting exercise. I am not the fittest, but when I'm in the habit of going for a job regularly, I have a lot more energy (except for directly after the jog!)

I gag when I smell Red Bull. 12 years ago I spent a night sleeping in the shower after a dose of Red bull and vodka... I haven't touched Wolka since either.

    About Energy Drinks....

Isotonic - quickly replaces fluids lost by sweating and supplies a boost of carbohydrate. This drink is the choice for most athletes - middle and long distance running or team sports. Glucose is the body's preferred source of energy therefore it may be appropriate to consume Isotonic drinks where the carbohydrate source is glucose in a concentration of 6% to 8% - e.g. High Five, SiS Go, Boots Isotonic, Lucozade Sport.

Hypotonic - quickly replaces fluids lost by sweating. Suitable for athletes who need fluid without the boost of carbohydrate e.g. jockeys and gymnasts.

Hypertonic - used to supplement daily carbohydrate intake normally after exercise to top up muscle glycogen stores. In ultra distance events, high levels of energy are required and Hypertonic drinks can be taken during exercise to meet the energy demands. If used during exercise Hypertonic drinks need to be used in conjunction with Isotonic drinks to replace fluids.

    to make your own
Isotonic - 200ml of concentrated orange, 1 litre of water and a pinch of salt (1g). keep chilled

Hypotonic - 100ml of concentrated orange, 1 litre of water and a pinch of salt (1g). keep chilled.

Hypertonic - 400ml of concentrated orange, 1 litre of water and a pinch of salt (1g). keep chilled.

Yep, tiny pinch of salt in it. I didn't believe it either until we done it in my college course.

I know in Thailand they add a smidge of salt to some of the fruit drinks they make on the streets.

nothing beats the taste of a cold can of redbull when you know you have to get work in before a deadline and time is running out.It feels like rocket fuel then...Every other time it tastes like cack..

I find that people who drink energy drinks don't do any exercise, at all, whereas everyone I know who plays football or trains in martial arts just drinks water

I use red bull for Jaegerbombs, that's about it

I used to drink a can of red bull every morning. God knows why. I felt like absolute **** for a week or two when I stopped.

Nowadays I might have a bottle of lucozade if a bit tired but mostly I don't bother.

I am in love with red bull for an energy boost throughout the day really. Addicted to the stuff. Work insanely stupid extremely long hours and would be dead without my red bull.

How does this coffee and coke mixture work. How is it made up. What kind if coffee - something like maxwell house or the real coffee powder. What kind of a boost does it give. Looking for something that would have me hopping of walls

Does anyone remember the energy drink - black booster. Was out on the shelves about 97. The nicest ever. Tasted of mr.freeze cola flavour.

I'm actually genuinely shocked at the amounts of energy drinks people here are saying they drink!

I'd have the odd bottle of lucozade if I was sick or badly hungover (so maybe about 5 times a year!). I like Diet Coke which I know has caffeine in it but I wouldn't drink it to give me an energy boost, I just like the taste (which maybe is why people drink those other energy drinks...)

I'm not totally sure of the calorie content of these energy drinks but I wouldn't think that they're the best things for people to be drinking, particularly if you're not exercising regularly (and I'm far from a fitness/health expert).

Have to admit though that a massive turn off for me on a night out is the smell of Red Bull off a guy- it just turns my stomach. Bleugh.

I lived with a girl who drank three Red Bulls a day.
Her lower teeth are black from the gum up and she put on about 2 stone in under three months.

They should only be used by the sport-inclined... Too many people drink it and then don't burn off the sugars. In a Red Bull, there are 7 teaspoons of sugar - and that's before you get all the chemical sh1te in it.

These can't be good for you, people...

I'm not a big fan at all. If I just want caffeine, coffee tastes better. If I just want something to drink, water is definitely a better option. If I'm looking for something at the end of a long run to give me a lift, then I'll drink Lucozade Sport, but it's still kinda manky and feels like there's a coating of sugar in my mouth.

That said, at the 35km mark in the Barcelona marathon, a cup of Powerade tasted like manna from heaven.

When I was in final year of college I lived on energy drinks and apples for first semester exams. Drank about 3 litres of Boost a day and a good bit through the night then too. And Redbull shooters. Ended up not sleeping for a few days, having a nervous breakdown and missing 2 exams. So now I don't touch any caffeine except the occasional diet coke.

Also vommed up vodka redbull so much at this stage I can't stand the taste of it.

    Ah student days....

When I drink it, its like there's a party in my mouth and everbody's invited. :pac:

I used it on holiday after coming in at 6am and not wanting to sleep. I grabed the little packets of hotel instant powder coffey, poured in a cup and added cola.

Watch out for the "soda fountain" effect but then your left with a good tasting liquid cup of cocaine.

That would surely fcuk up your stomach though, would it not? Mine is not too good as it is

Cant stand redbull. Either as a mixer or on its own.

Lucozade I might have a few bottle a week of. Apart from that I would have a bottle of Poweraid the odd time during or after training.

Lucozade sport is very popular with professional athletes.
