Ok!I hope my box isn't going to pack up from recording BBC One HD!:D

Try to avoid any updates. Has it been that way always?

I just activated my subscription yesterday and it had both BBC HD and BBC ONE HD on 143, but it has changed to just BBC HD only now. I can't believe BBC NEWS and BBC FOUR aren't on the EPG, and I can't seem to tune in Channel4HD on other channels either.

You cannot tune in Channel 4 HD on any Sky box. Sky have decided that you can't.

That makes it sound as if Sky are doing something to block Channel 4 HD. What happened is that Channel 4 have chosen a broadcast configuration which never worked for any channel via the "other channels" feature on a Sky HD box.

They have chosen to block the Sky box from tuning in DVB-S2 channels to Other Channels. I assume it is Sky that decided on that.

It's only taken 9 years for BBC Four, so roll on 2019...

I see no mention of BBC One HD though.

Nowt to do with Sky - as was the decision of C4HD to go FTA. Sky STB's have never had the ability to manually tune S2 channels.

Who would have decided that Sky boxes would not see DVB-S2 transponders when manually tuning? If it's not Sky then who else could it be?

I wouldnt mind but our beloved government transmit all our channels to the North.

"Your govt. don't actually transmit anything anywhere. RTÉ, being the national broadcaster, transmit to all of Ireland. Even in a post 'Articles 2 & 3' era, the island is still percieved as a single entity, albeit with two jurisdictions.

And as for RTÉ being carried on the Sky platform for NI subscribers, well thats a matter for BskyB Ltd. who chose to make RTÉ 1, RTÉ 2 & TG4 available to their customers.

Personally I chose not to subscribe to that particular service as access to the irish channels is restricted, and chose to have a Sky Ireland sub.

BBC1 HD has disappeared from the added channels part since the upgrade earlier this week.

Anyone found it in a different location?

Have cancelled Sky already as the box is continually crashing, want a new box (after having this one for 2 years!) however they will only try and fix it and will not budge on the price of my subscription (€120 per month!). Time to give UPC a try, they might actually be interested in looking after my custom???

have you tried rebooting the box without the viewing card? as you have cancelled anyway.

some boxes revert to the English epg (mine does)

i think it depends on which box you have, i had to remove it from other channels to get bbchd back on 143.

Could you get BBCOne HD back, no??

You will have to re-tune it on other channels if its gone. I've got to say I'm seriously considering switching to the Freesat HD+ box. Threre's only so much telly you can watch.

The Saorview/Freesat combi seems to be in big demand since its official launch

The Sky box does not allow you to select the correct parameters to tune in BBC One HD. Once it is gone from Other Channels it's gone

Well I can still watch bbc1hd but i have to reboot the box and put the card in upside down to get the uk epg its not a big deal since i only watch the F1 on there anyway

Same here, my normal BBC1,2,3,4 and BBC HD in the EPG are still working fine and my BBC1 HD in Other Channels is working fine too. Guess we're lucky!

Same here - had to delete BBC1 HD from other channels and BBC HD re-appeared on 143

because maybe he wants more of a choice on a Saturday night than britains got talent vs strictly come something or other

why is it so hard for people on both sides to realize that if your tastes are served by freesat then it is a wonderful platform, but if your tastes are more for documentaries, sports or movies then freesat is sorely lacking and sky is a much better option
neither are a better solution...they both have their advantages(freesat is free), and their limits(freesat programming is pretty much , well, popcorn tv)it's horses for courses.

Make of this what you will.

Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre. We are always adding new channels especially new HD channels, I currently at present do not have any information regarding BBC1 HD being shown in R.O.I, however that is not say it wont be included soon.

I hope this helps with your enquiry.

    Kind regards

    David

I have to agree with the above, I don't mind paying for Sky as it gives me a lot of choice, Freesat on the other hand is very limited.

I think the box he was referring to is the Ferguson model which has its own thread here; http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=72501936

It seems that it has lip sync issues with HD channels though. Might be better to wait on the success or otherwise of software updates first.
