Bit of a long shot, I thought it was in this thread I saw it but I can't find it now.

Anyone remember a pdf file of "logic and rhetoric"? It had lists of logical fallacies, rhetorical styles etc.
It was pretty handy as a reference tool, but I forgot to save it when I formatted my drive.

I don't know about a name for it, but it's a known phenomenon, e.g. http://xkcd.com/214/. It's a common complaint about tvtropes.com too.

So, there is this series that has been running on BBC4 for the last four or five weeks called 'A History of Christianity', really interesting stuff. This weeks one was entitled 'God in the Dock' all about the first time the 'truth' of Christianity was questioned. From Spinoza through Voltaire, Strauss and co through to modern day skeptics within and without the religion. It's interesting stuff.

There's no law against first cousins anyway. (A mate of mine's parents were first cousins).

Fairly typical reaction from the Muslim in question.

Indeed, using a technically correct term is now 'inappropriate'.

i think the RCC have; you need a special dispensation to marry a first cousin. or so i'm told; it's not something i've ever really contemplated.
