Does anyone use 3G Watchdog succesfully with this phone? I have it installed and it is saying that I have used only 79MBs of data. But when I log into 3 it says I've used 478MB!

I'm on prepay with 3 so I bought an addon with 500MB of data so that has been pretty much used up. Is there a better app for monitoring data usage on the Blade?

Actually I might be looking at it wrong :)

The total that it says on 3 may be the amount I have left to use which is broadly in line with what 3G Watchdog says. I thought it was what I had used :o

havent received my blade yet....but there is a built in FM radio, correct?
The plan is to install froyo, will this cause any issues with the radio?

That is correct. Radio works on Froyo. Install the Swedish Spring version of Froyo, seems to be the best.

mobovideo or some name like that

I switched to Swedish Spring from Japanese Jellyfish a couple of days ago and the battery seems a bit better.

People should also try this app,

    http://www.appbrain.com/app/battery-calibration/com.nema.batterycalibration

Need to be 100% charged.....it does appear to give more battery, although it is really just erasing the batterystats file, which will be re-generated by the OS.

There is a manual procedure, but the App above does it all.

Yeah, MoboPlayer, free from Market, is very good.....

    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clov4r.android.nil&feature=search_result

Also, you could try Rock Player Lite, but Mobo is better, IMHO.

    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.redirectin.rockplayer.android.unified.lite&feature=search_result

Both play AVI with Divx/Xvid ;)

Tried both of those with a 720p h264 and it was pretty much unwatchable both times... Guess they might be OK for a sub-standard def divx/xvid, but pretty useless for HD content on this phone

With all due respect, I think you are looking for too much from a phone 480 x 800 device......

However, I am in no way expert in this field, but I do think expecting 720p (1280×720 non-interlaced) is a big ask for any device at this price point.

Blade has a 200 Adreno GPU.........600MHz ARMv6 Processor and 512 RAM....which is good spec for a device at this price.

There are lots of things it can't handle, to be expected, like Flash, due to Adode's lack of support, etc.

However, if there is another Player which can handle 720p on this device I would love to know it.

All those apps seem to do is transcode on the fly, so it isn't totally unreasonable to expect this phone to be able to cope (I wasn't expecting full 720p playback!)
One of the big selling points of Android phones was not having to convert my flac/wma/ogg music files beforehand, so I guess I'm just feeling a little bitter that the same isn't true for video files

This is one of the reasons that I caved in and ended up putting in an order for a higher end phone... This is a damn fine phone to test the Android waters with, but the speed of the thing can really start to grate after a bit of use...

I absolutely take your points on board, particularly the on-the-fly one re the Players. :)

This is my first Android, or even Smart phone, and I am simply amazed by the versatility and possibilities available, at 57 years old, it takes a lot to amaze me.

Just one point, I have enabled Hardware Acceleration, via Blade Buddy, free from Market.

And another, MoboPlayer now has specific codec for ARM V6 processors.

    Hope these help.....cheers :)

I'd really recommended you just GEN2 TPT it and flash Swedish Spring, way simpler
You can check MD5 with Astro file manager

Never used fastboot myself, when I got the phone I put the TPT on the memory card, rebooted and TPT'd :D

Sorry that means nothing to me hahaha

So how do i go about doing what you suggested?

basically you download the GEN2 TPT (thread is stickied in Modaco), unzip it to SD Card/Image/
Put the GEN2 Swedish Spring zip on SD Card wherever

Use Astro file manager on the phone or another checker from the PC to ensure the MD5 matches (to check file is not corrupted)

The boot holding Volume Up and Menu :)

    no need for PC

If you have SIM with data plan just follow this guide:
    http://orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/
It takes 20 minutes to bring the phone back from the dark side :)

Any one have their OSF on Three?

No option to pick it from the menu when selecting which phone you have... I assume it'll still work fine?
