    Quick question:

Is there any way to use the hard buttons as short cuts when the phone is locked?

See I always have my phone on min brightness, as its perfect for around the house, however in this sunshine when I walk out the screen is unreadable and needs to be increased. Trying to do this in the sun couldnt be more annoying as I end up turning Bluetooth and 273 other things on.

So is it possible to like hold home and up/down volume to increase/decrease screen brightness?

    Thanks :)

Am heading up to Newry tomorrow to buy a San Francisco.

Should I activate it while in the North or does it matter if I leave it in the box until I get home?

It doesn't matter one bit. Mine came from Manchester in the mail and the box didn't get opened until it arrived here.

I'm not on SS, but I have MNC 05 listed below MCC in my Access Point settings for 3.

In related news, pulled the trigger on gen2 today. First time ever seeing H instead of 3g and I haven't roamed/dropped to Vodafone's 2g coverage yet. At home, I was nearly always on 2g and now I'm floating between H and 3g!

I'm on a trouble free homebuilt cm7 of slightly after RC 4 vintage which I was hesitant to upgrade after reading some recent bugs. Kallt Kaffe made a handy little any gen cm7 tool, which after the gen2 flash I was able to restore my nandroid of gen1 cm7 and flash over the relevent bits so I didn't have to muck about with reinstalling/"upgrading" to a version that may be less stable than the one I was on.

All in, about 30 minutes and seems well worth it so far, especially since I'd have frequent occasion to use the 850mhz band unlocked by gen2.

I switched to Swedish Spring from Japanese Jellyfish a couple of days ago and the battery seems a bit better.

I actually can't get data on vodafone, ever! wonder if my settings are wrong? I don't think i've ever used mms, so i don't know, have you checked out the three forum for MMS?

Would you mind letting me know what ur settings are, it's quite annoying not being able to get data when on vodafone! as i'm in a very rural area so end up roaming on vodafone a lot! Apologies if we are deviating of the ZTE blade topic....

I'm on 3pay and get data when it drops to 2g on Vodafone. I think you have to allow data on roaming. Android's trying to protect us from charges/overages by disabling data when it thinks you're roaming but it's applied in a manner that doesn't work well with the 3/Vodafone network agreement.

Have the same thing in the UK on Orange (who share T-Mobile's network)
Can be quite annoying, as I'd much rather just leave the roaming off completely rather than having to remember to turn it off whenever I go abroad

Follow this guide word for word. The rom has to be specific to the sanfrancisco, bug beast thingy is for another phone. it takes about 15 mins, just follow the guide exactly.

Guys just wanted to take advantage of your collective knowledge! I have two SFOs to bring over from the dark side of proprietary crap, bought this weekend in UK. I've unlocked them already (easy) and the instructions for rooting/installing Clockwork also seem easy but I'm stuck when it comes to ROM choice.

Which 2.2 ROM is the most vanilla/leanest/most stable at the moment? I'd rather install things that I need than have to uninstall the ones I don't need.

Also is my phone likely to be GEN1 or GEN2 (I think there's an app to check it)?

Edit to answer my own question(s): looks like Swedish Spring is the one to check out first!

Well - picked up the San Fran from Argos in Newry last Friday. Followed the guide on www.orangesanfrancisco.co.uk to the letter and it worked like a dream (NB: I am NOT a techie!). I'm still bowled over by the quality of the screen :). My gf now has a really superb little phone for a total cost of €140.

To anybody reading this who's even thinking about getting one of these, I'd urge you to take the plunge. It's an absolute cracker of a phone.

I've had this phone a while now but is anybody else having difficulties with receiving/sending MMS messages?

I got one from a mate last night and went to download it and it was still downloading 2 hours later.....

Any ideas as to what I can do to rectify this?

    Hi all,

Have my Blade now since a couple of weeks and am extremely pleased. Have flashed it with Swedish Spring before going on to Cyanogen 7.

Surely there are some niggles (like crashing when charging) and general unresponsiveness once in a while, but it's a lot of fun to tinker for this price.

It seems I am a bit unlucky as first I got a phone that did have extremely bad wifi reception, but that was sorted by a replacement. But now i must have dropped my phone and there are cracks in the transparent (glass?) camera cover on the back of the phone, right over the lens.

So my simple question is: does anyone know where I can get an replacement camera cover? Or do I have to replace the whole back cover? And if so: how much and where?

    Thanks in advance.

Spotted this on ebay the other day.
Don't know how easy it is to fit and it's a top rated seller.

For some reason the FMRadio service was dropped from Cyanogenmod, but I have however written C Code for controlling the radio, it needs a lot of work which I have not got around to doing yet...head over on blade.modaco.com for the thread

It does however, need a customised kernel to get this working. Haven't even started on the GUI but that's because perhaps, it will get re-instated and Andorko's (he's the dude that put together a FM Radio app) code will work then.
