It's €35.99 on G2Play, and you can just download it through Steam.

And I've found out that it's €30 in Gamestop :)

So, can we get confirmation of who is selling what version where early?

I'm almost certainly going to cancel my amazon order and take a walk down to the shops either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Reading Kotaku and the ilk, apparently there's something of a OTT backlash taking place against Portal 2; it seems the great unwashed of the internet are getting themselves into a tizzy that Portal 2 is not the second coming of Christ. 6.6 on Metacritic atm. Bizarrely people are most annoyed about the graphics. The mind boggles.

15 paid professional reviewers have given it an average of 9.5/10

I play online games with the unwashed masses, I don't trust them nor their nerd crusades one inch

    Some folk just like complaining.

Playing it now on PS3 and its very good, graphics are fine not mind blowing but better than 1.

Game is really funny too Steve Merchant does a good voice over. I like his weird farmer voice.

This game is a pile of win. Oh the smirk when I realised how
the light bridges combined with portals
in chamber 11! Merchant is hilarious, and
GlaDoS is one worryingly bitter sentient AI!

    :(

Am unsubscribing from thread til I get the game..

.. yes, I am that immature and annoyed I don't have it.

After a couple of hours playing this I have come to the following conclusion: this is not a video game, this is an interactive comedy, 'cos I haven't laughed this much since ... well, Portal 1 I guess. The haters must be ADD-riddled idiots because who'd want to rush through a game this enjoyable and fun? They must have missed most of the funny stuff...

Whoever wrote the script & gave Stephen Merchant the gig to voice the robot deserves a holiday because it's quality stuff. Genuinely funny lines delivered so naturally. I'm torn between Glados' sarcastic psychosis & Merchant's witty babbling :D

Ok, it's funnier in the game I admit :D

the graphics are well past their sell by date, but the engine is older than jesus so im not sure why thats surprising anyone.

The game itself is incredibly good imo, ill stick my review up later, but ive been digging it muchly

best use of the Source engine yet imo, felt so damn smooth and polished, ran like a dream.

Looks just fine to me! It can be quite beautiful in places, in a weird kind of way...
It was never going to outdo the likes of Crysis 2 in terms of graphics, but it pisses all over it in every other aspect!

    /edit
@ DARK-KNIGHT - Amazon seem to be the cheapest

Well the game engine is almost 7 and the Source Engine was delayed for years because of the development of HL2. Still though Portal is not about the graphics, so that aspect can take a back seat imo.

It's graphics are great where it matters, in the small details. The textures on keyboards on random computer keyboards are crisp and sharp for example. The amount of blurry low res textures was one of the most broken things in Crysis 2.

There is a really nice document floating about on how they developed the various fluid effects. Such much better than maximum bloom.

are you honestly trying to tell me it looks like as good as most modern games? it doesnt, it looks like a modern game through played through a tea bag

that doesnt stop it from being one of the best games ever made though, its merely an observation that it looks a little dated

errr..... yes. Im playing it on the PS3 but it certainly doesn't look out of place with any other game i've played recently. Its no KZ3 or Crysis2 but it certainly doesnt look dated.

:) The last few games i've played were DA2/Bioshock2/Black ops and KZ3.. The settings don't really allow the game to show off graphically like KZ or Bioshock but the limited character animations in the game and the lighting and even the textures are solid, not going to win any awards but like i said i don't find them dated. Maybe the lack of explosions and action scenes are clouding your judgement :)

are you missing the bit where ive continually referred to it as one of the greatest games ever made?

Well it is running DX9 but in fairness to it there is a lot of (a lot of) attention to detail. Not to mention things constantly being thrashed around. Dont get me wrong I would have loved it under DX11 or something with motion blur and whatnot but I have to give them huge credit for making such an incredibly atmospheric game.
