you can pick up something cleap like this. that will do what you want.

my previous phone was the nokia n97 which had the fm transmitter built in... and to be honest i rarely used it after the first little while.

    nice gadget though :)

You can either get a BT compatible car radio or look for a BT-FM radio transmitter.

Very few devices would come with that as its illegal to broadcast in full power in FM, they're limited to very low power as there are CE regulations. this creates problems. The itrip was an addon attachment for ipods and iphones, but because its low power it suffers from lots of interference in built up areas and poor quality sound
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITrip

A better option is to fit a wired FM Modulator, it does the same thing but it plugs in to the antenna, You tune in the radio and gets a perfect signal. It would need installing, it connects to the back of your car stereo and has a 3.5mm headphone jack that plugs into your phone. I bought one in Maplin before for around €30, they don't seem to stock them anymore but I'm sure You'd find one if you Google

Hands down the best video player for Android. Excellent UI and gesture based controls.
Can transcode (convert) any video file to native Android format on the fly without any hitches.

is it better than Rockplayer? it doesnt have gestures but other than that its played all non HD content i've tried with it

The UI looks a lot nicer (particularly in landscape) and you can select specific folders to monitor so you don't have to scan through all the folders on the SD card. So far it also seems to run smoother than Rockplayer. In essence it's a fully fledged media player rather than a basic piece of code that simply plays AVI's etc.
In any case it's free, just check it out and you might find you like it. If not you've still got rockplayer!

lidl & aldi regularly have a car stereo for around €60-80 that has bluetooth handfree built in which will also receive music via BT from your phone and it works fine.

it also has an sd card reader, a front mounted audio jack & ipod/usb connection on the front as well, so its hard to pass up.

i have one of the older models myself and its pretty good for the money.

It doesnt do epub, so its worse than useless.

Aldiko is the best reader app Ive seen.

I got one of these last year.
    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5006449/Trail/searchtext%3EBLUETOOTH+CAR+.htm

Has a Bluetooth option plus a 3.5mm jack + USB port. I used to use an FM transmitter but the Bluetooth is much better quality.

Tried Kindle for Android, it won't read local books, only ones bought on Amazon store. I have lots in Mobi content that the Kindle device reads but the Android app gives no option to real local books on SD

Put the .mobi files in the Kindle folder on your SD Card.

    Or use Aldiko.

I use fbreader and it is perfect as it is all epub files that I use. It is very tidy and I've yet to find a problem with it. It is really ugly when you first get it, but if you change background colour to white through the settings, it is perfect.

Horses for courses, I have downloaded a lot from Amazon to my Kindle so therefore I don't find it useless. Its Useless for you, would be more accurate.

Folks, has anyone used CoPilot in the States?
I'm heading there on Wednesday and am having issues downloading US maps for my Garmin. As a result, we may just use CoPilot instead.
I have a Galaxy S but am worried there may be issues with the Galaxy Sat Nav .... it always seems to be about 30-40m out.
My wife has a Desire HD so maybe the sat nav on it is a bit more accurate?

Anyway, any input would be very gratefully accepted.
