There'll be no PB for her if I'm at the finish line in a pair of Speedos.......

I just swallowed my own vomit

Anyhoo, had a nice jaunt this evening, 6.2 miles in 51:20 in my new runners that felt all wrong for the first 3.5 miles expecting some minor calf issues tomorrow.:)

Met Spaghetti at 9 on the button for a planned 10 mile @ 9 min pace, we ran a pretty comfortable 10.43 miles in 1:25:54 and still managed a natter!

6 miles in 48:02 in my new runners, I hated every step of this run, my feet were pounding down and my calves and shins were taking a beating. Don't know what to do, I tried on every neutral runner in the shop and settled on these, think I'll leave them until after Mallow and try and 'get used' to them after that.:(

Were you up on the treadmill and are these the foam ones you were on about on Sunday?

If so, give them a couple of short runs before you despair. If they are a new pair that you've never worn before, it will take a while for your legs to feel comfortable in them.

That was my second six miler in them, as discussed on Sunday the sole is filled with a reactive polymor which hardens and softens to lessen impact (supposedly).

Yeah, took me a couple of weeks before I was happy in my Mizunos last year. I wore them on the easier runs for a while, and only switched over to make them my main shoe when I was comfortable in them.

14 miles in 2:18:45 met up with Meno, Aigster and the Claralara wan.

Nice slow run with Meno laying the seeds of thought about me running Cork for a sub 4 as a stepping stone to better in DCM, I'm very tempted.......

Said it in jcsmum's log too, but I'm going to have to agree with Menopause on this one. Be sensible about it and the sub-4 is easily there for the taking for you. Hell if I can go sub-4, anyone can :pac:

I think you should do the Cork relay. Say leg 2, for team RQ...

    Hmmmm.....Now there's a thought:pac:

I'm looking at the P&D 12 week schedule:eek: for 55 miles, I should have made this decision already. Some logistics to work out but I.......think I might give it a lash.

Could i make a suggestion? Do a half in Cork or somewhere before July and aim towards Dublin for the sub 4. By then, you will have a really good base compared to last year and the more mid range races you do, will increase your speed without doing any speed training.

A rushed training program for a sub 4 would give you little leeway in case of life getting in the way which is something to think about.

By the way RQ is trying to get you to fill my spot in the relay team. ;)

I could never REALLY replace you, obviously. :D

It's a selfless, helpful suggestion obviously and nothing to do with the faster times he has been posting. :pac:

I get what you're saying but I have 5 weeks in DCM training where I either can't train properly or at all.

Oh God, STEP AWAY FROM THE BROOKS. Got a pair last year and i hated everythign about them. Ended up going back to Asics but to a more neutral type down from the Kayano, 2150, and i LOVE THEM. I know different strokes...but sometimes if it aint broke...

How you getting on other than poxy runner issues? Any races planned?

Great, getting some speed in the legs finally. There's a group of us running the Mallow 10 mile Sunday week and I'm considering doing the Cork marathon in June, what about you?

My first reaction is to say 'go and have a sh1te for yourself' but I'm up for a laugh, how about this, you and I race Cork and the loser has to wear them in the Dunshaughlin 10k?:)

At my age, I race only against myself....;) I'll wear them in Dunshaughlin if I don't break 4 hrs...You wear them if you don't break 3:50.....We could both end up wearing them :D

After today's run I might have to revise all my targets:(, I think RK should simply model them for our amusement.:D

This was supposed to be an MP run, 5 miles @ 9:30 followed by 8 @ 8:30 instead it went as follows:

5 miles in 44:26 followed by 8.1 miles in 1:07:20 which is 13.1 in 1:51:46 beating my time of 1:53:19 from the Adidas Half last year. This felt hard overall given I had 14 in the legs from Thursday and it was quite warm. I'm revising my target down to sub 78 for Mallow, no point in killing myself now that I've bigger fish to fry.
