Did my usual trip to Balbriggan market this morning, nothing much tbh, a 2600 Jr without cables, an n64 controller, a couple of PS2s and an Xbox. Then I got a pretty good deal, I got a perfect psone, with psu and controller for 4 euro! And that It also had the GT half of GT2 in the drive was nice too, and It all works perfect.

Sorry, did I not mention that it came with the official screen as well, and it all works fine!

    Happy days!

I was there this morning as well, bloody packed so it was.
Unfortunately all I came away with was Okami for PS2 for 4euro, nothing else of interest at all. I didn't see that PS1 with Screen... (remembers having given a friend a lift to the train station (opposite direction) before going to the market...)

    You Snooze, You Lose baby!

But, I did see an unboxed Killer 7 for the PS2 for €4 which was a bargain if I didn't already have it.

The PSone thats getting the mod, will it play back-ups without the need for boot disks?
I have a classic PS that might be better to mod, if you like.
I haven't seen or talked to kerbdog in a while so I haven't had the opportunity to pass the MD onto him, as soon as I can, I will send it along.

And not sure I'll have a spare screen, if all goes well I will have a PSone/screen combo for sale, I'm sure at very competitive rates!

Well whichever PSone Kerb gives me is for you, so if you want full compatibility for imports without the boot disc you'd better get the classic to him instead so (afaik he's already picked up a replacement psone for you), you can sort it out between you really.

I'm offering the free MD mod if you give me the borked psone, so I guess it's seperate anyway. Up to you, but then again maybe the Kerb is confident in modding the classic type anyway & I can give him just the chip? Ah I dunno, give him a bell & sort it out :)

It'll run backups. You'll just need a boot disc to run inport backups..so anything non PAL.

I've been trying it out all evening and to be perfectly honest it's not a problem at all.

Cider is old though man you forget, the having to get up to change disc thing can be trying for the elderly (and Retr0). Pfft, young folk these days...no consideration :p:D

You know I have access to medications that can turn your lower bowel into hanging outside your body, right??

Disc swapping sucks, easier to simply patch the image, that does the trick, no?

It does work, but from what I've seens so far, patching just converts the game to 50hz. So it's slowed down with boarders. I'd rather swap discs then play neutered games!

If there's a way to patch them while retaining the full 60hz I'm all ears :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

It works, but there's 3 patches altogether. Maybe just do the 2nd two I outlines in my tut? I know the first one is more based around the regions etc, & I've no idea re the colours as all I had at the time for testing was the lcd screen.

o1s1n, for arguments sake can you get one of your ntsc images, do the 2nd two patches & try it on your psone via rgb to your tv by any chance?

    The latest haul from Infideals.

A breadbin C64 at last! Ok this is non functional at the mo, but for a tenner I was more than happy to take a punt on it & see what I can do about fixing it.

    swa595.jpg

    Very cheap gameage

Also took a chane on this, but bought it on the basis that it's an official Atari product. It's very cool actually, it hold x8 games in style

Ah sure it'd be a crime not to pick up a few 2600 games when they're £1 or just over

    2ywx3so.jpg

The total cost? A lot less than buying it elsewhere I can assure you of that ;) infithanks to infideals (don't forget our 20% discount of ordering)

Tell me if I'm wrong but isnt Castevania on the N64 one of those games that people pay lots of money for?

Nice haul Enternow. That Atari game case is really interesting alright. Can't say I've ever seen anything like it before.

I'll patch some PS1 games later and see what the results are. Have a few more NTSC games to try out when I go home.

No it's not. It's quite common but I'm sure on infideals it went for a hell of a lot less than it usually goes for.

I might have a box for that castlevania if you want it
(had it ages ago boxed , the game went missing but I might still have the box)

Nope, the SNES however is a different story. It's actually not much of a Castlevania game really, but still, for the price I couldn't not buy it.

Yep, what's it normally sell for? This was £3 I think.

It's actually not as bad as the AVGN makes it out to be. It's a good game just not amazing. N64 owners were just disappointed that it wasn't as good as Symphony of the Night on the PS1 and that disappointment evolved into hate thanks to the intrawebs.

You'd be very lucky to get it for 10 euros. 15 is what it normally goes for.

Yea those cases are pretty sweet. While they're not overly rare, ya still don't see them too often, especially not in as good a condition as that one ya got Enternow. Very nice! I had looked thru the games on that site, ya couldn't really fault the prices for them. Seems like a very straight dude. Pity there aren't more out there like him.

Picked this up last week for a Euro, Happy out! :)

Have to consult with the house manager... Yes I know you are making whipped noises right now.. Its all ahead of you, unless you are pdbhp or Retr0, then you are in it with me!

..ah no worries , like I said its not used, and more importantly , if I start displaying this in a box I'll have to get boxes for the others ..and then its a whole thing.I've started to go that way with my mastersystem stuff (unboxed just doesn't cut it now)Frankly you'd be doing me a favour :)

    nice one
I might book some sleeping bag space if its ok, as I'll have the car and a couple of beers are always fun with retro gaming in polite company.:)
I'll probably be hosting one mid April or may if anyone's up for coming to the wilds of Maynooth...;)

I've recently been cured from my box disease, & am now happily collecting unboxed games. Whereas before, it simply had to be boxed. So I'd be doing you a favour, but reinfecting myself :D:D

Just got delivery from the States of a new retro magazine called Scroll, only 40 pages long but it's a nice little thing. You can also get a PDF version for cheaper if it takes your fancy, scroll.vg. Print is $10, PDF $5, shipping to here was $14 though. Has some nice articles about the Snes and other bits n bobs, haven't read it fully yet.

    Here's some pics from it.

I see Scroll is being made by Ray Barnholt, trying to rival his co-worker Jeremy Parish's success with Gamespite :) I'll probably end up getting those Scroll magazines when I get some money, Ray is fantastic on retronauts and ATB with jeremy and he knows his stuff.

Got these from a nice guy on adverts.
George Foreman (before he made healthgrills)KO Boxing
    Outrun 2019
    Fifa 95 and
Rings of Power (the main reason I nabbed these)
Have a love hate relationship with that game.I rented it back in the megadrive days , and at first didnt like the combat at all , I ended up playing it for 24 hours straight!
Whenever I tried to nab a copy on ebay they were always stupid money (although today it I saw one for £3 so maybe I just picked the wrong day)
Also it has that really weird easter egg on the title screen (think JB posted it before)

I never believed that until I got my own copy and tried it out on real hardware.

    Shocking stuff altogether!
