And @ the groutch: Enough of the pinko crap please! I don't have the time or the energy to lecture you and all the cretins out there who seem to think every war the US fights is a matter of securing oil

Okay, I have a question for you. If it wasn't about the oil, then what was it about?

And please spare me the spiel and bull**** about WMDs.

Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

Why would they string him up? They support him now. They only vilified him when he refused to open up his economy to US markets (like Iran, North Korea and Venezuela) in the 1980's. But since then Clinton got him to let US companies into Libya so now they love him even if he is still a brutal bastard who crushes his people.

Yes they're real chummy aren't they?

I must to admit to a chuckle when I read this. Usual story. America does something - they're warmongerers. America does nothing and everyone wants them to go in. Some things never change. Ever.

Nobody is wringing their hands about the US not "doing" something. They are calling the Americans out on their hypocrisy of banging on about freedom and liberty and all that sh!t yet they keep silent about Libya because they fcuking support Ghadaffi.

The Libyan people are well able to liberate themselves from a tyrannical dictator if they want to. Just like the Iraqis are capable of overthrowing a dictator is they wanted to. Nobody needs the stupid fcuking Americans coming in and "liberating" them when in actual fact they are there to plunder their country.

here's a newsflash: "the americans" aren't a single entity. the previous administration was well into pre-emptive wars. this one, not so much.

    christ, the ignorance/arrogance.

Just like the Iraqis are capable of overthrowing a dictator is they wanted to..

The Iraqis tried to. They failed. They appealed for outside help. Unfortunately that help was years too late for many.

Nope. The UNSC is a great forum for the biggest arms manufacturing countries to shape their markets.

As a matter of fact American's are not even allowed/welcome to enter Libya, but I guess the facts kind of get in the way of generalizations.

Apparently there are several thousand US citizens in Libya right now.

What does the OP suggest the US does? Who should they bomb? The Libyan military and government bodies appear split down the middle, and there's not much way of determining rebel from loyalist forces from the air.

Any military action is likely to be limited to the level of providing local security at a port or airport to allow evacuations by foreign governments of their citizens. A typical grunt on the ground is going to have absolutely no way of knowing what's going on if he's suddenly plonked into the middle of Benghazi with a rifle, he'll be of no positive use, and may instead simply become a target.

    NTM

    LMAO

You do realise that George H.W. Bush was the Director of the CIA ?

For once the US seem to be doing the right thing, i.e., minding their own business. How long that'll last is another thing though, it'll depend on whether or not the elections all go the way they want them to.

    Simple. They're busy in Iraq.

If Bush hadn't come on his wargasm early, the US military could have been sent in as heroes and strung Gadaffi up.

It's Bush's fault. He dicked with the wrong dictator.

If you believe this you have a poor understanding of how our government works.

Why don't you get a grip and stop making a fool of yourself with this blind hatred of the US.

Did you get refused for a Green Card due to substance abuse or something?

How very naive of you. Do you really think unarmed people who are being shot at with Ack Ack guns, and having ordnance dropped on them, can really free themselves?

And think again my friend. The 'stupid fcuking Americans' as you call them are the last line of defence between tinpot regimes and the freedom we enjoy. I'll take them ahead of those clowns any time.

Interestingly, the Americans import 60% of their oil requirements. Their largest supplier? No, not any ME country, but.................................Canada.

'They' make themselves the last line of defence by interfering in absolutely everything. They should **** right off and sort their own problems before trying to tell everyone else how countries should be run*. Nation full of bullshít is all it is.

*Countries should not be run the way of dictators!

Russia and the UK don't feel the need to stick their noses into every action of foreign relevance. It should be the UN to do it.

Russia and China block every kind of resolution aimed at checking the nastier regimes of the world like Sudan, Libya, North Korea, Iran etc mainly as Russia and China have huge investments in those countries.

Fair enough the US block resolutions condemning Israel but at least Israel is a democracy and overall the US has been a force for good in the World since it became a major world force.

Are people really that blinkered that they'd prefer a world where China is the major superpower? Jebus.

Everybody knows Russia and China are horrible horrible countries....why doesn't the beloved America go invading these countries for the benefit of the people? Oh yes, cos they would get completely annihilated.

Yes, Israel, a very good form of democracy alright. They just play the Americans and British for fools.

Yup cos I clearly stated I wanted China as the leading power. If it was up to me none of this "super-power" crap would exist.

Get the fcuk out of here! Tell that crap to the Vietnamese. They booted out the French and then the Americans tried their hand at occupying them and got their asses handed to them as well. The Viets don't need any help from anyone, least of all the morons in Washington, to run their country.

America guarding our "freedoms"!!! don't make me laugh.

I wouldn't be surprised if America where behind this movement to oust Gaddafi in some way. They really don't give a fúck how many Libyans are killed. Gaddafi has blamed mercenary's from other countrys for starting this. America also have a history of doing things like this. I could be 100% wrong but if there is oil and a leader the yanks dont like it is in their best interests to see him gone. Now they have the perfect time to get him out without upsetting the muslims even more than they already have.

I'd say the US are reluctant to get involved in any more major military activity, they need to prepare for 10 years time when China are the worlds largest economy, and a conflict with them will be almost inevitable. But I just hope we get to fcuk up some more sh1t in the middle east and Africa before then.
