Wanted near taper time for barca to dip under 70 mins for 10 miles. Very tired at the moment, weather ir brutal, no grub before run ect...
First 4 miles hard hard hard ~6.50 average. 5, 6, 7, headwind had given up in my mind was feeling savage bad and had lost my my time i had in hand over 7 min miles. Turned with wind at my back and emptied thd tank.
    69.51
Not feeling confident for barcelona to be honest. Had to lay on the ground after this run.

we are all getting tired - taper will sort that out. You are way faster than you have been before - and your PB is 3:13.

be confident! :) Just look after yourself....

What was wrong with the weather today? It was a lovely evening in Tymon.

Weather is doing my tits in. Rain, darkness, cold all no bother. Its just the wind. Some days its impossible to run in if you wanna do fast miles.

Keep the faith Oisin, as far as dipping under 70m before Barca I've no doubt you would have kicked the crap out of me if you did Dungarvan.

    You were knackered after it for a number of reasons in my opinion;

    1. headwind
    2. you were running alone, in a non race situation
    3. small matter of having run 26.2 miles a few days before!!!
    4. you were putting yourself under too much pressure because of all of the above

Listen, I'm no expert but looking from the outside in I'd say a decent taper will do you the world of good.
I reckon you will really enjoy Barca and a good time will follow.

By the way, forgot reason #5....You really need to let Adamstown go mate...(insert smiley face here!)

Yeah mate i knew just under 70 mins was the limit for that session with the miles i had put in in the previous days and weather ect...
First time ive gone under 70 mins for 10 miles believe it or not. Have never had the opurtunity to race 10 miles in 18 months. Was just to see if i could and i did so i was happy. I would have liked to be in better nick finishing though.
    Taper and fingers crossed x
Ahh Adamstown, ill keep an eye on your races and turn up out of the blue and then its on:D

Good confidence boosting run there Oisin. What's the story with the heartburn, I get it at times too. Not a great feeling.

You are in good shape for Barca

Started tired but felt alot better after about 5 or 6 miles. That run on saturday took more out of me than i thought. Going to sign up for the paddys day 5k and am looking for a 10k to. Have some new found speed and would be a shame to waste it.

    sub 19?

Closest I got to sub 19 was 20 08 last March.

But I ve been eating a fair bit of porridge since then, so I reckon I can break 20 at least.

Another incentive is to beat Menopause but from what I remember his pb is well under 20.

Its going to be like a scene out of a war film. Ral this is a great course, youll go well under 20 bud. Ive only ever done two 5 ks, 20.16 and 19.33 in this race last year. 3 Way battle, who is the favourite? :D

Yesterday morning after another night shift, planned 10 miles. Went with the flow, had the watch turned backwards. Once again was tired and stomach was at me but was feeling okish considering.
Dont have watch on me but remember the important stats.
7.51 first mile to ease in.
    7.4x
    7.3x
    7.2x
    7.15
Then 5 miles under 7 min miles, average for these was 6.56
Average was bang on 7.15 so i was happy with that and was in ok nick at the end. Could have done a few more mile under 7 min miles but had to do something.

Today i just just couldnt get out. Things conspired againest me and no running.

Ok, this is going to sound really dumb, but what is pmp?? I know mp is Marathon Pace but I can't figure out the bloody first 'p'!!

My training's hit a weird patch. I'm feeling kinda flat and demotivated when I should be giving it some serious stick. Got out 4 times this week (instead of 5 or even 6). Admittedly 6 is rare, but 5 is standard. Did 26 kms on Tuesday and it zapped me for the rest of the week. This morning I did 14 and the middle 10 were swift enough; 42 mins and a few secs. About as quick as I can go in training on my own.

Its just planned marathon pace mate. No difference it just suggests the marathon it yet to come:D
No running the last 3 days, stomach infection. Just finishing antibiotics. Thank god for taper time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭dare2be

So, are we going ahead with the group attempt for 3.10??

I'm in if its still on. Don't know if i'll still be around come mile 20-odd but it would help to be in a group and push each other on?

    What ya reckon?
