time to let go of the past gentlemen .time to make a stand and make this country a good place to live and a good place for our children to have when we go .

im not saying vote for sf it your choice who you vote for .im just saying stop voting in ff if you are one of those who has .or were f**ked again

im just saying stop voting in ff if you are one of those who has .or were f**ked again

But that's the opposite of letting go of the past: that's holding FF responsible for their screw-ups.

That's a reason for voting against FF. I'll be voting against SF because they are promising to screw up the country.

I don't think I could ever vote for SF in my lifetime. Too close a connection between them and the IRA, and incidents like the McCabe murder.

They can dress them up in suits all they want, but they still have civilian blood, and the blood of our security forces on their hands.

Aside from that, I would never trust them to be in charge of our country's economy.

    totaly agree

no one will vote sf if they want this country too get better again, there policy's or lack of wont ever do any good for southern Ireland, they use same political as they have always, reject everything but no solutions too any of Ireland problems,at least a plan that works ,also till the day they dont sell IRA stuff on there website and have proven not too be connected with IRA,majority of people in Ireland wont see them in power any other party out there wont have them for these reasons and more, there supporters can rant on all they like, but wont change this

You need to move on from the mcCabe murder and stop listening to the propaganda promoted by media types.

Lovely that. Sweep it under the carpet. Many people on this island have something called morals. The murder of innocent people isnt something we forget about.

Its hard to judge the credentials of a partys economic policies if they have not been in government

Not really. You can judge them by reading their manifesto. You can also get a fair idea of their level of economic ability by listening to them talk on economic matters. SFs manifesto would send us back to the 1930s and their leader, Adams, constantly fails to impress when questioned on economic matters.

After quite a lot of thought and consideration I have decided to vote for SF and independents because

    1. FF and the Greens (mainly FF) have completely destroyed the country
    2. FG are not offering anything different (leo V's disgraceful appearance on VB last night continues to confirm this)
    3. Labour don't know whether they are left or right wing party but all signs are pointing to the right (their Kerry North candidate is so far removed from the reality of working class life it's ridiculous), plus they will go into coalition with FG
    4. SF are offering us some bit of hope. They live on the average industrial wage so understand real life. They do straight talking. They have the support of many other key opinion leaders outside of their own party. They have empathy with people who quite frankly are on the edge in this country.

Everyone here can spout on about the economic illiteracy of this party but quite frankly some of us have just bloodly well had enough of FF, FG etc continuously kicking us while we are down and whose policies are forever centred around protecting the business class and wealthy.

I agree with SF's stance on not forcing ordinary people to shoulder the burden of bailing out banks etc.

If some people here feel that they don't want to vote for SF because of the past then that's their democratic right but don't forget that other parties have a similar history and I for one am trying to look forwards rather than backwards at this point.

Christ, never realised they sell IRA T-shirts on their site.

Only when they completely shake off their links with an organisation that blew people to bits on this island and in Britain, will they be taken seriously. Selling 'RA shirts on their site doesn't really convince me that they have done so. They should be able to stand over everything they sell on their site - I wonder would they be happy to canvass the streets of Irish towns wearing the IRA T-shirts that they sell?

I just saw their party political broadcast on RTÉ there, the more I hear from them the less well I think they will do in this election.

To be honest, I've no real problem with them working in local councils, and there's certainly a few of them do good work for local community. However, government is an entirely different thing, and I personally wouldn't want them to hold any sway in the new government of this country.

For a political party to come through interment, assassination, censorship it is some achievement to hopefully be the biggest party in ireland after these elections. The old guard just like in egypt is crumbling that is great the sooner the better.

I would consider giving SF a vote if they handed over the locations of the bodies of the disappeared people to their distraught families. If they call to me I'll take the opportunity to ask them.

i would consider voting for any of the established parties who through their fear of the ira. allowed the gardai to assault suspected ira members during interrogation, who collaborated with britsh security forces to murder innocent irish people they suspected of being members of the ira and even covered up the bombing of monaghan and dublin. when these parties (f.g f.f and lab) admit to these cowardly acts i might just might consider voting for them

you can call the i.r.a terrorists or you can acknowledge the fact that they where brave men and women fighting for irish freedom

    that sums up sf then

I meant in reply to the question (if it was a question) that I choose to call the IRA what I think they adequately proved to me they were, terrorists.

Brave women and men who paved the way for the freedom of this country and gave them the freedom to vote and own land and be Irish who also opened the door for free Irish in the north to vote.
Call my great grand father a terrorist and i will pop you in jaw:D
The irony most of these people relations from the past were IRA sympathizers and also helped and hid and were apart of IRA lol:D

Sinn Féin,the one thing i have an issue with is the pension reserve fund, but i am going to have a talk with someone about that during the week to see what they intend to protect those people with instead.
