    To be honest Brian, its lovely that you have come on here to defend the girls, if that is what you are doing, haven't been bothered tuning into the show after the first few weeks of the first series, so can't really comment on anyone. However, if the girls are getting upset, maybe advise them to avoid the thread, and also avoid putting themselves in the public spotlight if they can't handle comments from people who judge them from comments made to a dodgy presenter for two seconds at a time. Honestly, there is more to life, I suggest they get over it and just get on with things

    True, but it was a one sided debate, and I'd much prefer you all direct your criticism at me! God knows I'm sure when I'm on it, I'll be lambasted on here!

    :rolleyes:

    But I went on it and knew what to expect having done some TV before, the majority didn't expect it

    While agree you had valid points in principle you do seem to have a real loathing that, imo, extends beyond the show per se. and it's mostly directed at Irish girls, not that you points in some cases aren't valid....but it just seems there is a deeper issue/agenda going on beyond a tv show.

    Oh no doubt about it, I have a huge issue with Irish women which but I've openly admitted to numerous times in this thread, I'm actually surprised that it's only getting raised now.

    Anyway I could argue forever on the topic but I think donfers actually said it best commenting on the very first contestant on the fist show of season 1;

    if the show was held in england most of the lights would still be on, the guy is a bit of a shaper but that's part of how the show works, he's not ugly or too much of a twat so I don't understand why after 2 rounds there is just 1 light on...................typical Irish women, way too fussy, insecure, delusional and self-conscious, this show won't work because Irish women don't do glamour or showbiz too well and the fact is that most of the girls on it are monosyllablic overcaked hags......really an embarrassing watch but exactly what I expected, another example of ordinary women getting a buzz out of rejecting guys and people wander why Irish guys date a lot of foreign girls...and before you ask, no I'm not bitter, I have had great relationships with Irish women and have never been dumped or rejected but sorry to say this show is a bit pathetic...so why am I watching it you may ask....well it's entertaining in the same way a car crash is and it confirms all my prejudices about a certain breed of Irish woman

    Btw caseyann, I didn't know that you could speak Dutch ;)

    But why direct the criticism towards a guy who has not done anything wrong? I think the reason this show has been a bit of a flop on our shores, certainly from speaking to my friends about it, is because the girls have brought down the fun nature of the show. The UK version is so light-hearted and humorous, whereas the Irish version is like some kind of tacky show you used to see on Eurotrash years ago. I stopped watching it a few weeks into the 1st series because of this. Switched to the UK.

    The other night a gentleman about 60 odd years of age came on the UK one. He had 6 lights i think remaining in the last round. Certainly some switched off because he was triple many of their ages, but the others judged his personality rather than looks, which suprised me, i was expecting many more to turn off. Now, if this happened on the Irish version, how many lights would have stayed on?

    The girls going on this show signed away that part of their lives to the media devil. As with all reality type shows, their lives, appearances, comments etc. will all be up for public scrutiny. It would take a very foolish girl to think she would come out of the show, after some of the comments, unscathed. She will be forgotten about in less than a week after the show ends, for that she should be at least grateful that the public are so fickle!:)

    Does your mother like how you speak about the women in the family (which does include her and the other female members of your family) and does your friends like how you speak about their girl friends. ;)
    I should judge the guys on the show then for picking the girl who is better looking because she is better looking not because of her answer.As it obviously shows Irish men are shallow.:p

    We have been down this road before caseyann and for the record my sisters are probably the most selfish, self-centred little princesses out there and my mother agrees. Plus as I've told you before, only one of my mates is with an Irish girl, the rest, like me, date foreign women.

    Jesus Christ.. this thread has gone off the rails.

    Back on topic!

    The girls are very very pickiy, my take on this is that if they end up going on a date then their little stint on the show is over, typical of the shallow ignorant irish girl to want to grasp the limelight for as long as possible!

    And who is that heroin junkie look a like with the tattoos on her arm (the skinny blond one) do they recruit these women from farms??
