If you want to know how the hard left works, pay attention to this.

The hard left is playing straight from the communist/marxist/whatever-ist bible, which says that the "enlightened" need to lead the "normal people" into a glorious socialist paradise. What happens then is you sign over the deeds to your house and so on and it gets redistributed according to need, unfortunately no effort along these lines has ever really gotten past the handing over of the keys part for some reason.

The reality is that the brainwashed cultists incorporate themselves into any cause going, the greens, student protests, whatever, (this is known as entryism) and try to "radicalise" the members. This means stirring up conflict between these groups and the authorities and knocking people off balance, which makes them ripe for indoctrination. Cults like the Scientologists use the same technique, create a problem then offer to fix it for cash. They target the weak and disenfranchised.

The real kicker is that they will almost certainly never achieve their goals, and those in charge know that. The point is that you get to pay a tithe, literally a tenth of all income, to these groups, and once you start paying that you'll start defending them yourself in case you look like a fool. And on the twisted cycle goes.

At the end of the day, its all about the money. Really, their one and only goal is to indoctrinate more members and hence get more money.

You know, I've been hanging around the far left quite a while now and no one has ever asked me for a penny. I hope your new centrist party gets 6 votes and a punch in the gee.

I must admit, seeing crusties on the front line getting a smack of a police baton is a guilty pleasure of mine.

The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon.

    Its a long way off.
My point is, I see absolutely nothing wrong with people saying a revolution is needed, and people working away quietly to achieve it - it doesn't have to be in-your-face bombast. Merely attending protests and marches is in itself making your voice heard and I have absolutely no time for the "Oh I'm so right-wing and no-nonsense that I'd never attend a protest as that might look a bit hippy-ish of me" sentiment here. However, there's quite the irony in people commenting on Boards that change is needed and then adding "but Irish people aren't gonna bother their arses are they?" etc.

Yeah I agree with that. Just to be clear when I say its a long way off happening I mean that not in a "no one is arsed" way, but simply that I do not see it happening for a good while yet.

Did anyone see that Charlie Gilmour (son of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour) has had to apologize after swinging from the Union Jack on the Cenotaph during the riots yesterday?

What the fooooook is the son of a man worth 80 MILLION doing protesting about fees, I ask? Don't try telling me they can't afford it. What is it about making money that makes people more greedy? I think the term 'Educated Idiot' is apt here....

Ah violence, the far left answer when you can't get anyone to vote for you. :D For what its worth, I've been reliably informed about the "contributions" by former members of the SWP.

'Tis true. Nobody on the far right EVER resorted to violence when they couldn't get anyone to vote for them...

Or what, I'll get a punch in the gee? This is what I was literally told, and I've no reason to disbelieve those who told me. Have you got the accounts for the SWP handy, I'll be happy to amend my opinions when I see the source and amount of donations they have been receiving, linked to expenditures.

I was told that upon joining Amhran Nua you are repeatedly raped. I have no reason to disbelieve those who told me. I will be happy to amend my opinion(wait, its only an opinion now?) when I see proof that it is not the case.

Damn, our secret is out, now we'll only get the masochist vote. And we would have got away with it too if it weren't for those pesky communists.

I'm a member of the SWP. Like any organisation you can contribute if you wish. I notice some silly organisation that is about as removed ideologically from FF as FG are soliciting for donations on their website. Every single part of your previous post was so hilariously inaccurate you're obliterating any point you ever had.

Don't feel guilty Sir G, just wallow in the feeling that the taxes you are paying go to pay the lads wielding the batons who are dishing out a good smacking.

Nice to see your taxes being put to productive use for a change.

Gives one a nice warm glow of satisfaction.

See the important difference is its party policy to publish all donations, no matter how large or small, and their sources. Set in the constitution, in fact. Anonymous donations are dispensed to charities.

We don't need to set up a pile of friendly sounding organisations to dupe people into joining us because we have a dodgy ideology and no workable policies - AN, it does what it says on the tin. Even the policies are completely open to public discussion, and we've more people joining every day to contribute something much more valuable than money - ideas for the future of the country. Not for us the breaking into the seat of government or assaulting guards, we like this democracy thing.

Pretty sure I have asked this before, but will again, what is your connection to the party you shill, and are you an official representative, and if so, what is your name?

We like democracy too. Real democracy. Not the same type you couldn't get in FF or FG because you only owned one racehorse and they wouldn't let you in. Any organisation the SWP is involved in is completely open about their links with us. People before Profit, Righttowork, the United Left Alliance. The SWP are completely penniless anyway. Some members donate part of their earnings to the party. We collect donations at events. All that goes towards is our newspaper and then posters, flags and leaflets. And a boot for kicking you in the gee. A massive boot.

Eh no you haven't, and if you had I'd have said that I'm one of the founding members, and my name can be found all over the website. I've also had interviews with nationally published newspapers and radio stations, most recently last week, and my name is all over them too. A few hundred thousand people have probably heard of me, albeit briefly. I think I remember reading that boards didn't allow people to put out their real names in posts, but if thats not the case I'll be happy to post it up here too.

I would also point out that discussion was not, in this thread, turned to the group by me.

In a manner not unlike watching a car crash, I'm forced to ask, what sort of democracy do you envision?

Is this a political party or an episode of the Simpsons?

Yeh, but if you ever got into power (you won't, but they'll eventually let you into FF/FG) you'll be the one directing the police to assault the working classes and protect poverty. So it's extremely relevant I feel. Mods can we rename the thread to include this subtopic?

I did ask before. Cant remember what reply. There is no such rule. Which one are you then? Tell us your name, so we can clearly see who is making these allegations about SWP.

One were the minute after you mess up we can recall you. Right of recall is a basic tenant of any proper democracy. This is After Hours, every post I make in her must contain attempts at irony or humour, it's expected.

Here, doesn't get much clearer than this. I have already stated the source of my information, and requests for clarification from you were met with heavy handed sarcasm.

What happens when someone sets up a media scandal of some sort and your policies which will take years to reach fruition are entirely derailed? I do agree that recall should be a factor, but it should be a right of absolutely last resort.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

Haha, last resort? As in never you mean ;)

I should add that working to provide for your fellow working class person doesn't take years to deliver. You either do it or you don't. We don't want to spend 5 years gradually levelling out inequalities. We want to eliminate them competely. That's the aim of a classless society.

How the hell would I when I have absolutely no connection whatsoever to the party?

You no doubt have similar information available about your own party?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

I'm googling a list of donations now. We're a registered political party so they're out on the interweb somewhere. Expenses are detailed exactly as I put them earlier. We don't employ anyone, we don't buy arms from North Korea but we do drink tea. They also always have caramel sucky sweets in the office.

The last two years published, 08 and 07 have no recorded donations for the SWP. But I assume there's some sort of lower bound on this were you only need to disclose if it's over a certain amount? Not saying that situation is correct but as I said, some people contribute some of their wages. That's about it.
