DIRT up from 2% to 27% - thats hell of a jump!

Surely he meant to say up by 2% (i.e. from 25% to 27%, which would seem to be the case)

I gotta ask, where are you getting the figure of €230 for monthly rent?

I'm applying the maths to myself, I pay €230 a month for rent.
    No TV or NTL?

Heh, no. Had it in the last house and thought it was a load of shìt. If I want to watch TV I'll use my trusty internet :pac:

But a 1% tax levy? Sorry I have no TV or radio here. Did he mention when this is to take effect? I could if I wanted sign the contracts tomorrow.
I think he said tonight, but I'll defer to someone who can remember!

I actually have to say - I was not expecting that...

Bar a few small things, I think that was a fairly fair and reasonable budget. It really had cuts across the board for all brackets and it does hit the higher earners more!

Did I hear something about a betting tax?

There is already a betting tax of 2% but the bookies pay that for the customers, there wasn't a tax on internet betting but now that will be 2% as well, it wont affect the punter because the bookie will take the hit.
I think they should of put a 5% tax on betting, im a gambler myself but the bookies would take the hit not the punter as there is so much compettiton now.

I thought that Lenihan spoke very well and powerfully, and although I was never a Fianna Fáil supporter, I would vote for that budget wholeheartedly.

without deeper analysis of all the announcements and without looking at the budget supplementaries, it really doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as it was made out to be...

will wait to see the fine print though.

has anybody a clue how income tax is gonna work out!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,396 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

I do agree with FG that there needs to be more incentive and correction to get the economy going.

Fairly ok thing for FG to say that it wasn't Lenihan being an idiot but more misguided (paraphrasing).

Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But when we start getting the interest rates for the 85 billion loan I am outta this country!

They'll now be getting 27% of fuck all instead of 2% of fuck all.

Actually think it's starts a 4% for under 10k & goes up on a sliding scale.

    Yeah, it wasn't that bad....

Then again I'll have to sit down and work out exactly how much they'll be screwing me for.

I still want to see a massive reduction for long time welfare heads, they don't deserve it. People who were self employed and cannot get welfare do.

Something needs to be done, it ain't right.

Lowering the minimum wage is a disgrace.

I'd like to see what FG's actual budget is rather than hearing this bullshít of just disagreeing.

Come on... I'm no FF fan, but standing there going "that's no good" doesn't help.
