Of course not. Its an organisation! You and i created it! You think templemore has an intensive screening process? Seriously dont be THIS naive(no offence).
    Its like any other organisation!

So there is no interview process?

    LOL

No harm to him, it's fantastic he was there to protest, only 20/30 or so seemed to have turned up, but that is hardly harassment. You think he should have been let stand there or something?

so you fail to see an intermediate between letting him stand there and flinging him to the ground?

well it takes a certain type of person to be able to do the job, you don't seem like the type to me, but I'm sure you're good at whatever it is you do.
Maths B3 at Foundation Level or D3 at Pass level.
This means being able to spot the difference between One Thing and Many Things.

    English D3 at Pass level.
This means being able to spell most of The Cat Sat On The Mat.

Irish C3 at Foundation Level or D3 at Pass Level.
This means being able to say either Tá or Níl, but not necessarily both.

(Note: a candidate is not expected to achieve these grades in both Irish and English. One will do. This explains many things about our daily conversations with the Irish police).

Other language D3 at Pass Level.
This means being able to order a beer in Spanish while out of your head on illegal drugs in Ibiza. Two-ay servayzas please. Good man, Horse..

Two other subjects D3 at pass Level.
You can pick woodwork and domestic science. Whittling a truncheon and frying doughnuts..
    :)

It's quite hard to move someone who doesn't want to be moved.

I'm no fan of the guards, but that isn't a good example of what they get up to.

Well they let him stand there for a good while.

He's a big man too, not that easy to tackle when he is ranting like that, especially a female Guard. Ranting means he isn't amenable to being talked to and dealt with as a responsible individual.

Tbh, if you see that as some sort of harassment, I see now why you seem to have an obsession with Guards.

it's against the law to drive a vehicle which is not taxed. What's your point???

you want the Garda to say , " ah sure you're grand there Johnny off you go sure never mind about the aul tax begorha"

exactly the tea drinking, intermediate playing culchie mammy boy thicko, persona of unprofessionalism I can't stand at the moment.

sounds as if you don't like being told when you are in the wrong, just like when you used to have to go to the principals office

Precisely the type of attitude from Gardaí which results in the erosion of respect. You pull up at a checkpoint with a brand new insurance and NCT cert and a recent receipt for the car but to your well trained, clued in Gardaí you're clearly a criminal of some sort who decides to risk the car being taken away by skimping on a couple of hundred's quid road tax even though the world and it's mother knows it takes a couple of weeks to get sorted at a minimum.

No im disagreeing with your logic do you not see the differrence?

Bullyinh isnt the only issue I have with gaurda, I already mentioned some being involved in drug dealing and taking. not to mention the donegal thing, which by the way isnt the only corrupt measures the gaurds up there were involved in if the locals were to be beleived.

    Good point.

But obviously ignore the point that Gardaí behave like arrogant jobsworth bullies when the situation generally calls for some friendly advice.

What???? i'm done. I'm sorry but i'm a nice guy. i'm know what i'm talking about! The Gardai are very disciplined in general(EMPHASIS). To hear people saying this SHI"$! is very aggravating!

Yes kid. You do realise they are shockingly low and wouldn't get anybody onto any other course of any sort in the country?
If surgeons had the same minimum requirements would you mind someone with 4 passes at OL giving you a heart bypass? Why not remove all the requirements at all then if they don't matter?

It's a throwback to times when just passing the LC was a decent result, the Celtic cubs wouldn't know about times like that and the lack of opportunities at University level, drop out rates at secondary etc.

Definitely should be higher but I think you seem to assume they all have that standard. Most joining now would have degrees, diplomas etc.

I was offered by the gaurda In question a bag of ectasy as was several of my friends. I didnt think anything would be done as at the time there was no ombudsman. that involved one gardai and isnt representitive of the majority of the gardai. What i think is more wide spread is thuggery and the aceptance of thuggery.

Not that having a degree is necessarily a good thing the way standards have dropped in universities.

Ok Dan, first off you're obviously a GENIUS well give you that.

being on the lower end of the academic scale does not imply brutish, bullying tendencies by default.

I personally got a meagre 500 points in my leaving over 10 years ago, I went on to study, Maths/Physics, Computers & Microelectronics before I decided to join the Gardai and i'm currently studying for a degree in Criminal Psychology.

I know a lot of people in the Gardai who come in with third level degrees and the qualification for passing out after 2 1/2 years is now a BA.

So in relation to the qualifications for applying to the Gardai I guess my question is, Whats your fukking point?

it doesnt imply brutish tactics but the fact is it exists in the organization
