I don't hold my hopes up for this.
They will just turn it into another soapy American teenage drama washout.

    They'll both suck, especially Skins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

I can just imagine the US Skins being a replacement to The Hills. The great thing about Skins was that your average teen could relate to some things in the show. It was over the top at times but still enjoyable and relateable. A Skins remake about some snobby, stuck up, spoiled teen living in LA complaining that her auld lad bought her the wrong car is not relateable.

Every remade movie IS A DISGUSTING P.C. PIECE OF CRAP!! (Compared to the original)

I watched some of the new "FRIDAY THE 13TH" -- Complete garbage!!

The PC crap in this country is out of control and insane!!

Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey has confirmed that the upcoming MTV series will be "completely different" from the 1985 film.

Michael J. Fox starred in the original movie as Scott Howard, a high school student born with werewolf DNA.

Posey told Collider: "It thought it was awesome that they were redoing [Teen Wolf] but I wasn't expecting what I read from the script."

He explained: "In the movie, Michael J. Fox's character... already had the werewolf DNA in his blood. Whereas on the TV show, I'm bit [by a creature]. It's a lot darker than the movie. [Also] the sport [I play] isn't basketball, it's lacrosse."

However, the actor insisted that fans of the film will still enjoy the new television remake.

"I think for the people who know the movie and hear of Teen Wolf on MTV, there's going to be some weird stuff going through their heads," he admitted. "But I think that anyone, fan of the movie or not, will love this show."

Teen Wolf is expected to premiere on MTV in 2011.

    Lacrosse?

    LOL

I could never figure out if the lines about Lacrosse being a tough sport in those American Pie films were serious or a piss take.

If they had remade Teen Wolf Too I'd have been all over that.

Ah for god's sake, they're going to completely ruin everything Skins is about.

That show was unlike any other teen drama I'd seen before and still stands today as the only one I'll watch, it was just so well put across and well-written.. MTV will do it absolutely no justice at all.

    That seriously bugs me.

I'll definitely give the American remake of Skins a watch.

A remake of something like Skins coming from an American basic cable channel is absolutely pointless.

I read MTV bought the rights to make an American version of The Inbetweeners as well

Correct, they've already began casting for the pilot episode!! God, that will suck, there's no way they'll be able to use words like clunge and everything else fowl Jay use to say that was funny!! :p

Teen Wolf should stay in the 80s and not be remade

Wouldn't a live-action tv series of Teen Wolf just be Big Wolf On Campus?

    ...

Is that supposed to be a joke?

There's no way that's the real trailer, surely? I was expecting something bad, but they literally ripped every scene nearly shot-for-shot and quoted word-for-word from the original, cast incredibly horrible actors, and apparently totally changed Jal-- she's a cheerleader now? Wtf?

God help us. Tony doesn't even have the right bedsheets.

No but seriously, that's not the real thing.. right?

I'm confused as to why those of us who've already seen The In-Betweeners would want or need a "better" (more Americanised) version, to be honest.

No they won't, it will be the Big Bang Theory without the science jokes.

As for that Skins trailer - WHY?

Could they not just import the British one? Every actor in the American one looks like an idiot (especially American Sid )

What about The Fly with Jeff Goldblum? It was far superior to the original.
The PC crap in this country is out of control and insane!!

What does MTV remaking Skins and Teen Wolf have to do with PC crap or indeed this country?

Now I've never watched Skins, a bit after my time, but I looked at the American trailer there and it looks perfectly passable. There seems to be sex and drugs included so at least they haven't made it all clean and nicey-nice.

I know you think they all look like idiots Phasers but in any ads I saw for the original Skins the actors all kinda looked like idiots too. I thought that was part of the point?

It's a different kind of idiot though. It's a overly polished, American, "I'm clearly in my mid twenties" kind of idiot.

Skins producer Bryan Elsley has promised that the upcoming US remake will be different from the British series.

MTV released the trailer for the American version last week but some fans of the show complained that it was too similar to the original show.

However, Elsley wrote on his Twitter page that he is planning to introduce new storylines for the remake.

"So: to be clear," he said. "The first series of Skins USA will start similar and get very different to the UK show. Walk first then run. We are about USA writers and USA stories. Most young people here have never seen Skins. It's for them really. Eventually it will be all new."

Elsley continued: "We're all nervous. Young writers need to grow and then take control of their own stories. We're making space for that. Try it, maybe?

"Finally, I hope I am old enough to take a bit of flak. It's fine. I am always just glad that people actually care."

The US remake of Skins is expected to begin in January on MTV.

Starts tonight on MTV [US] with a further ep. tomorrow: http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a323153/teen-wolf-stands-out-through-sense-of-humour.html

I'm not sure but i *think* this might be the scripted hit MTV has been looking for...it might appeal to the tweeny Twilight/Vampires Diaries set.

The dad changed between the first and second trailer

The dad changed between the first and second trailer

Which dad?...not seen ep. 2 yet, have they replaced someone after the pilot?
I liked it alot, actually thought it was great! :D
It had alot of humour actually, it wasn't all dark and angsty...but still plenty of that. The effects CGI weren't as bad as i expected, it was well paced and mostly acted pretty well.

Had some good action and tense scenes, it was basically a setup episode, but i'm 100% behind this show...great Summer fare, if you're a Twilighter or Vampire Diares fan this is right up your street!

For the tweens, lots of hot shirtless boys :P - angst teenage warewolf stuff, lots of shipping possibilites, pretty hot girls. Warewolf hunters....wolfpacks, yeah that was darn good stuff imo, ep. 2 is out and i'll watch that tonight...needs to be dark!

    :D

Smart poster!...i also picked up on Kyle XY comparisions: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1476073

As in the lead character Scott, his look, facial expressions were very like Kyle....almost an innocence and naiviety about him. But the show imo is much closer to The Gates then anything else.

it was ok, he could have said he had an asthma attack and needed to rush home for his inhaler better excuse no?

    did her dad recognise him?

    cgi not great

pretty predictable don't think i'll need to watch anymore of it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Ep. 2 was pretty solid as well, it had alot more humour...twas quite funny actually. What i've seen thus far i like, but....seems the viewers don't:

    Teen Wolf (MTV, 10pm)
    - 1.472 million viewers
    - 1.0/2 HH
    - 0.5/1 A18-49
    - 0.8/2 W18-34
    - 2.2/9 T12-17

For ep. 2 this is pretty bad, especially for MTV who sell everything to this demo.

Sunday premiere numbers were not huge either:

    MTV Teen Wolf 11:00 PM 2.167 0.9

Honestly thought the teen females would tune in, guess they only like the trashy Jersey Shore or pregnant teen white trash mom shows.

Go TW!...ratings went up, 1.8m with a 0.2 demo increase....ep. 3 was very good, it was much darker then the previous 2, but still a fair bit of humor from Scott's sidekick. Excellent fight scene at the end with Scott and Hale!, great stuntwork.

Seems there is a Alpha wolf on the loose!, liking this show and hopefully it continues to rise.

4th episode was excellent!....very strong, with some good story elements and plot arcs progressing, the chemistry between Scoot and his GF is electric!....very hot and steamy, they bounce off each other very well, great casting imo.

Kate, the new warewolf hunter is HOT AS HELL!, really liking this show...getting better with each ep.

ok im watching it, its not too cringy, lots of different things happening, I had to look up the age of yerone, she's 25 and does look like some runway model compared to the teeny bopper, and thats yer one from the blade tv series, so she might have practice of monster fighting

Ep. 5 was a bit fillery imo, but still stuff went down. I'm loving Styles!!....guy is a legend!....sooo damn funny, he's head-over for Lydia and methinks he'll get her in the end.
It was a slower ep. that pretty much focused and Scott and Alison bunking off school, looking all cute together and making out.

The ep. did do an interesting device for character development for minor characters, using the parent/teacher meeting to finding out more about Lydia and the others, neat way of doing it.

Few suspects thrown up now to to who might be the Alpha...one of the teachers is rather suspect but moreso Scott's boss...the vet, if you noticed all the animals were freaking out!, the same thing happens when Scott or Derek enter. Excellent Summer fare....think MTV finally have the hit they wanted.

MAJOR SPOILERS for upcoming episodes: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Watercooler-Teen-Wolfs-1034676.aspx

My thoughts exactly. He was completely throwing off the subject and the teacher guy is just there to make you suspect him. I like the PE teacher's character.

slower? 50 things happened in this episode, every single person there is either a wolf or a hunter or something else, yeah the pe teacher who teaches economics is hilarious

i was confused about the mark on the jocks neck when did he get that?

why did stiles delete the footage?

so who released the mountain lion the vet.

Last week Derek sunk his claws into the jock BF, but did you notice the Alpha spotted he was "marked" and left him alone at the start?....me thinks that guy may start to change Wolfie all slowly.

Not sure why Styles would delete the phone vid evidence, it's possible the mountain lion was left running about as a ruse to keep the hunters off the Alphas tail....ergo the vet.
