Jonny Wilkonsion is not even travelling. Feilple Contiponie will start at 10 next weekend. Last weeks Toulon team bar Wilkonson were the 2nd string team.

Spelling isn't your strong point is it? :D

Nothing up yet on Toulon's website but they always leave naming the squad to the last minute - a bit like Leinster.

in the link above the toulon coach says contempomi will start on the weekend.

he also hints hayman and van niekerk might start too

Yes but Contepomi may start at 12 and JW at 10 as regularly occurs in their Top 14 selection - depends on whether they think they have a chance in the HC.

Contepomi has mostly been playing at 13 so far hasn't he?

Tuitupou has been cited, its all going pear shaped for Munster.

    ****ty **** ****.

2-3 weeks I'd say. Earls hobbled off on Saturday and might miss out too. In that case we'd be left with Johne Murphy at 13 and Deasy/Warwick at 12.

Disastrous really. We'll have someone on the pitch who is very inexperienced. The Jones and Dowling injuries are really hurting our squad depth.

Bit much, thought the yellow card was sufficient .

i presume this citing isnt for the tackle into the back of the the irish scrumhalf

there was one other tackle i noticed were he did dump the guy. nothing toooo serious in it i thought, but then i also thought thats a semi spear. i havent seen it again this is just what i noticed during the game.

but i wouldnt have thought it was a bannable tackle

He was always going to be cited. The question now is will the disciplinary committee look at was the YC penalty enough, which I doubt. Had got a red card on the day that might have been seen as enough punishmnet but I feel he'll get a 3 week ban.

Rushing Earls back into the team after such a long lay off  You'd have to be nuts.

Wilkinson has played 9 games in 8 weeks, PSA has stated in the french press that he wont travel. Sorry JD your man crush will have to remain digital.

Rumours flying around at the moments that McGahan has stepped down. Don't want to be a wind up merchant but it's on the Munsterfans forum website and a few buddies have heard that this was on the cards. The team selection last weekend would lead me to believe that there are problems in-house. Quinny on the bench??? WTF

To be honest quinny can be as much a hinderance as a help, at scrum time we are down a man with him hanging off the back. While he can wind people up, it can back fire as well.

News: Jonny Wilkinson out of Toulon's trip to Munster

    11 October 2010

No show: Toulon's Jonny Wilkinson will be
rested for their Heineken trip to Munster

Toulon will travel to Munster for next weekend's Heineken Cup clash without Jonny Wilkinson.

The in-form fly-half injured a knee during Toulon's nervy 19-14 home win against the Ospreys on Saturday, and will now be rested for the Ireland trip.

Although Wilkinson played on - and was integral to Toulon's historic debut win - head coach Philippe Saint-André has opted to rest his star player in order to avoid aggravating the injury.

Wilkinson will now be replaced by experienced Argentine international Felipe Contepomi, who will be returning to play in Ireland for the first time since his transfer from Leinster two summers ago.

Oh well it's an ill wind....I'll be saving on hotel bills, train fares and match tickets, plus I can shout for Munster without feeling guilty. :D

Quinlan will hardly start, it would reek of desperation bringing him back but he does seem to find form from nowhere in the HC. I thought Leamy/Coughlan/Wallace all played well considering.

Strong Munster Squad For B&I Opener in Waterford
    11 October 2010, 5:10 pm

    By Pat Geraghty

Munster coach Anthony Foley today named his squad for the British & Cup first round game against Llanelli that will be played in the Waterford Regional Ground next Friday night (7.30pm).

Munster played Nottingham last season at Friday's venue and the Munster squad returned there for a pre-season training camp in August. On Friday the Munster squad include players such as Billy Holland, Tommy O'Donnell, Stephen Archer, Danny Barnes and last year's captain Peter O'Mahony who have been involved with the senior panel this season while there is also a welcome addition in the person of 66 times capped Barry Murphy who returns from injury.

Foley admits to looking forward to the game, "Hopefully we'll get another big crowd, another great night in Waterford, to give us the perfect start to the weekend."

The match against Llanelli the precursor to the crucial Heineken Cup clash with Toulon in Thomond Park Stadium.

Thomond Park Stadium officials report that all tickets for the Toulon game have been sold.

    Munster:
Danny Barnes, Ivan Dineen, Troy Smith, Barry Murphy, Simon Zebo, Sean Scanlon, Luke O’Dea, Ronan O’Mahony, Gareth Quinn-McDonagh, JJ Hanrahan, Declan Cusack, Conor Murray, Paul Rowley,

Dave Ryan, Darragh Hurley, Mike Sherry, Sean Henry, Stephen Archer, Dave Foley capt, Dave O’Callaghan, Ian Nagle, Paddy Butler, Peter O’Mahony, Billy Holland, Tommy O’Donnell.

With Sherry and Henry in the As perhaps Flannery will be back available for the senior squad.

Great to see Barry Murphy back after a very long absence.

Conters hasn't been intimidated by Munster in quite a while. In fact DOC and Quinny wasted a lot of time and effort trying to get at him instead of playing rugby the last few times he faced them.

So two people hear the same rumour then it must be right

Last year we heard rumours that Paul Warwick wouldn't be playing in one of the H/C matches in France as his child was serioulsy ill and he was returning to Ireland to be with his family, guess what he played in the game.

    Sweet Jesus!!

Did I say it was right did I???? . .No in fact I said I actually didn't believe it . . .did you miss that point???:rolleyes:

I simply asked a question about a rumour . . . .in a thread with guess what in its title . . .rumours.

I couldn't care less what rumour ya heard about Warwick last year . . .all I asked was did anyone else hear the rumour about Tony. Its not rocket science.

Yeah, but the Pony smells blood. If Munster lose this game, the Munster era is well and truly officially over, and they'll be fighting for a place in the Amlin...how the mighty would fall.

And truth be told, would I get immense pleasure out of seeing Dr. Phil do this to Munster in Thomond? You bet your ass I would...

You're squad is weak, the injuries are building up, the form is poor, the management clueless, and there's chaos around Munster atm imo....don't say you haven't been warned... I don't like to see a fellow Irish team suffer, unless it's Munster at the hands of Dr. Phil...

Allez Toulon!! Allez Le Doc!! :D

The last time Conters played Munster, I think he proved to everyone that the period of intimidation and frustration that you're referring to had well and truly passed. He played like a man possessed, before twisting a knee and missing the rest of the season of course...

I still have memories of his furious charges into (and over!) O'Gara and company in that match. He was having a great game till he came off.

The same Dr Phil who pooed in his pants any time the pressure ever came on! lol He lost the plot playing against Munster because he couldn't control himself.

Regarding the match, a lose could be the best thing that could happen to Munster. They're getting steadily worse so lose and get in people who know what they're doing would be great. I give them little chance of winning anything this season because of the way they're playing.

I only just realized that because of HEC rules, only two of the people below can play in HEC. Completely slipped my mind.

Felipe Contepomi, Fernandez Lobbe, Carl Hayman, George Smith, Matt Henjak, Rudi Wulf.

The first four on the list there are massive players for them, and they have already said they need to use The Good Doctor, so that means that only one of Smith, Hayman or Lobbe will play. That will be two of the best players in the world they will miss out on.

Toulon aren't nearly as tough a prospect in the HEC now. Knowing that, Munster should win this I'd say.

Silly rules tbh. Does it apply to New Zealanders though?

No. Hence Andrew Mehrtens taking out another citizenship (German, I think or South African) to play in Europe as a Kolpak resident.
