Can someone tell me how to get the multiquote working??

I did a post on that a while back and got the contact details for sume of the clubs in Dublin - can give them to you if you are interested - but I am not sure if you are Dublin based.
I reckon the treadmill is much better than no running for sure but for me its a boredom thing and I just get sooooo bered on the treadmill. We have a small gym where I work and there are tvs on the treadmill and even with a tv I just find I get bored.

Multiquote - under each post you want to include click the "multiquote icon (which is the 2nd one I think, the one with the "+ beside it). The full texts of all the posts will show, delete as appropriate. I am useless at using it, too lazy to delete everything!

Thanks for that fungirl, but I ament in the Dublin area :(

And Im loling here at the Waterford Hm thing! I have the same thing in my head today!! I think I will apply this week! Need some motivation! :D

Right finally on the net after Saturday in Dublin, my target was between 2hours - 2hours 15min, I managed it in 1hour 56min and 48sec. Very happy with the result :D

Def signing up for the half in Waterford in December, going to wait till next year for Dublin Marathon though

Couldn't be happier with the result since I only started running in Feb of this year and back then I was nearly dead after 2km :)

To all the pacers, seriously thanks a million for running slower then you normally would just for all of us. Between everything I meant to say hello as was told most of you are boards's but didn't get the chance

Yep, cross training is all of them, plus core fitness and maybe rowing...

Thinking about having a crack at Waterford myself, got a nice reminder on Saturday of how much I like the HM distance and I'm thinking I'd prefer to try and use the post-DCM fitness to get a good half in rather than having a crack at a 5k or 10k PB.

    Sub-1:55?
Go fot it! I'm thinking the very same myself.

Well after injury/lazy period/holiday its finally time to get back on the road and get training againfor Waterford.

Diet and training are back in vogue and with another holiday in 7 weeks i really have to focus.

I think i'm doing a 10KM on sunday which should be funny but out today for roughly 3 miles and i shall report if i survive !

I'm not going to follow any plan, just build my mileage bit by bit and put in some interval training.

I plan to get up to about 15 miles by the end of Oct and keep my LSR between 10 and 15 for a month.

I know i can do 10 at the mo even after a break so its not going to be as hard a push as Clontarf in July but i really want to better my time.

Great seems like a good few are signing up for Waterford so will hopefully see you there :)

Is anyone else doing the Donadea (Kildare) 10km on Oct 16th? http://www.donadearunningclub.com/gpage9.html

I'm thinking of using it as my comeback from injury race as there were good reports about it on the forums here last year.

30 squid is rather steep for a 10KM, the half in Waterford is cheaper than that.

Oooh hadn't noticed that :(. Maybe I should do a bit more searching for 10kms in Oct - anyone know any other ones?

3.6 done a lunch so back in the saddle, as usual between mile 1 and 2 was rough but ok after that. I'm aiming for 5 at lunch on Thursday and perhaps the 10KM on Sunday, overal happy:)

Back in the saddle myself today. :D

Did 3 miles this morning, pushed the pace a little faster than usual.

    Time: 28.47.

Happy enough for first proper run since my half and injuries etc.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully this cold that is threatening wont develop.. sinuses at me all day but okish yet. Fingers crossed my training isnt interrupted again!

Is there a finishers medal for the Waterford half?

Yip!! I have just entered online  (bites nails furiously!)

    I am already nervous!! haha

I really want to do well in this one and I am afraid I am setting myself up for a fall!!

Does anyone know the route? Is it relatively flat etc? Ive never even been to Waterford before! Might fit in some shopping in Dublin the next day too!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,197 ✭✭✭elvis jones

I roughly know the route and its fairly flat from what i kow. But it will be winter and no heat to deal with on the route which is a biggie for me.

If you do enough training you'll be fine, yesterday felt like starting from scratch for me but it will be worth it.

Mentioned above about a medal, i don't think so.

Take it easy with the training and don't push yourself too much, you'll do fine :)

    Thanks Cabaal.

I seen the route on there alright, but I couldnt see anything about elevation etc. Anyway, Ill assume as elvisjones says above, that its relatively flat.

Tick the "Show Elevation" box on the right hand side
    Min 7ft
    Max 135ft
    ascent 164ft
    descent -167ft

Hi all ran 4m last night - vslow and legs tired afterwards..but decided to give into myself on the basis they might still be tired after HM. This morning day 2 of the 12 wk intermediate HH program - interval traning...did 400m x 5 on the treadmill at work at a mix of 11km ph and 11.5km per hour - which is v fast for me..managed to do it without a heart attack. Tomorrow 3m...I have a few questions...

    1. Having completed my own version of the HH novice HM plan for Dublin (running c 10m at the weekends) am I right to step back down to a "long" run of 5m this weekend and shorter mileage down from 5m to 3m during the week ...aim is to do next HM faster

    2. Yungwan are you also doing the intermediate program? Am terrified of becoming obsessed completely if running 5 days a week! I am already getting funny looks in the pub on a Friday night when I am refusing drink because of LSR on Saturday!!

Switch the LSR to Sunday instead? :D
    Thats what I've done anyway

Well done on the speed training.... I only managed 2 of the 5 before a deluge of rain forced me home (the OH pulled up in the car beside me and it would have been rude to say no!) - if I had brought shampoo with me I could have had my shower out there and all! :D

Yungwan does not like speed training :( (but it is a neccessary evil!)

Anyway, yes I am roughly following the intermediate HH plan. But I am being realistic. With family commitments etc I am going to omit one of the runs. So I will be doing two short runs and one speed session during the week, with the LSR on Sat or Sun (depending on my socialising plans!) So 4 days in total. I think this is a good balance for me, and its still training most days of the week ;) haha

I figure consistency is the key, and if I push myself during the training I do do, its better than giving a mediocre effort 5/6 days a week.

10KM this morning, the longest i've ran in almost 3 months. Pace was very slow for that distance but i finished and had something left in the tank.

I think i might do the 10KM here in Portarlington on Sunday, ok time won't be great but it will be another race under my belt and soem money to a local cause.

Bike tomorrow or sat just to stretch out the legs me thinks.

Been taking it easy this week, but did a 6.5k slow recovery run on Tues and it went fine and felt good. Tried an up tempo 5k this morning before work and started getting the pain in my left shin back...not good. I'm meant to be doing a LR on Sun to ramp up. I've booked in with a physio later today and will see what she thinks, but I have my suspicions already....:(
