Last night I had a Brewdog Paradox Isle if Arran edition. Fantastic stuff.

I might crack open a Tokyo* tonight and have it all to myself :D

Just having a banana bread beer there. It is pretty bad. Terrible after taste off it.

    You are drinking WHAT?

Working my way through the most recent office beer-swap. Two bottles each of:

Long Trail Brewery Double Bag - Altbier (Bridgewater Corners, VT) - Kind of Okay

Otter Creek Brewing Copper Ale - Amber Ale (Middlebury, VT) - Haven't tried it yet

Tommyknocker Brewery Maple Nut Brown Ale (Idaho Springs, CO) - Maple syrup takes the Edge off the Brown Ale, but they put in too much and make it actually taste like syrup

Smuttynose Brewing Co. Old Brown Dog - Brown Ale (Portsmouth, NH) - Haven't tried it yet

Magic Hat Brewing Co. Circus Boy - Hefeweizen (South Burlington, VT) - My own contribution to the beer swap. Vague hint of lemongrass gives it a citrusy taste. Prob my favourite Hefe.

Paulaner Hefeweizen (Bremen, Germany) - About as good as its been since 1634

Flying Dog Brewery Snake Dog IPA (Frederick, MD) - Excellent IPA taste with fairly light body.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Summerfest - Premium Lager (Chico, CA) - Disappointed with this.

Oskar Blues Grill and Brew Old Chub Scotch Ale (Lyons, CO) - Sickly sweet. Not a fan.

Anderson Valley Brewing Co. Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout (Boonville, CA) - Great job of combining Stout taste with light body.

Lancaster Brewing Co. Milk Stout - Sweet Stout (Lancaster, PA) - Haven't tried it yet.

Bells Brewery Oberon Ale - Wheat Ale (Kalamazoo, MI) - Prob my favourite so far of this batch. The lad who brought this brought Corona to the last one, so he easily wins "most improved".

    BeerNut got it.

But it really was horrible stuff, couldn't finish the bottle. Plus it has put me off trying weird beers for a while. Nice bottle of Grolsch for me tonight.

Between the Müncheners and Bremeners, I don't know who'd be more offended at that one.

Banana bread beer is not for me but my wife loves it.
There is the possibility though that the weird aftertaste was because the bottle was exposed to too much light, a downside of using clear glass.

I know my wife had one she just did not like for some reason.

Anchor Steam Beer : A Nice ok beer , I'd say lovely in hot weather etc. But I don't think I be buying it week after week.

Landlord - Strong Pale Ale : Nice not hoppy at all , not sure why I expected it to be hoppy but it was a very drinkable ale.

Brew Dog Hardcore IPA : wow , strong stuff ! Found it very sweet on initial taste then finishes very dry. You can taste the 9.2% in the glass and thank god I was sharing this bottle with someone else as I could feel it going to my head.

Curim Gold Celtic Wheat Beer : Nice beer , loved the aroma from this when poured.

The draught version is very hoppy. It has one of the biggest differences between draught and bottled of any beer I know. They really should give it a different name, IMO.

Interesting. I'd love it to try it on draught as it's one of my favourite English ales in a bottle.

I see it as a good example of how good cask ale can beat a good bottled ale, although American C hop ale do come across very well from the bottle

Copy-and-paste error. Previous beer swap had St Pauli Girl as the sole German Entry. My brother live in Munich - he would kick my ass if he saw that.

A newly taken over pub in Roscommon Town has old speckled hen, staropramen and galway hooker on tap.

I'd only ever drank OSH in a bottle once so I was surprised to see that it was a two pint pour from the tap - the head was very thick and creamy - nice pint and great that a pub in such a small town has a decent selection of beers (coopers, schnieder, fullers in bottles)

    Lately I had ....

Innis & Gunn Triple Matured Oak Aged Beer ... all in all not bad but I do notice that there is a bit too much wood influence. Oak can add lovely soft vanilla tones but I think I get a hint of wood sap too which is verging on off putting but luckily does not go there if this was a whiskey I would possibly say it needed to stay a bit longer in cask. May try the Rum cask next ....

Fullers India Pale Ale ... great nose on this and came across quite fruity ... not much fruitness in the taste though but lovely all the same. I think I may go back to this one.

    and also

Adnams Innovation ... nothing to add here only great as always.

Yea not a massive fan of them, if you can get your hands on Fullers Brewer's Reserve No1 I though that was nice

No. 2 should be out in the next month or so -- aged in cognac barrels rather than whiskey and much much tastier, IMO.

Yes have to agree 100% there. Its something I always fall back on if I am not in the mood for trying out some new beers.

It should be interesting al right, apparent John found a Firkin of original whisky aged beer (4 years old)-and will be available at London Brewers event on the 17th September

In the fridge for tonight (I'm in Belfast).

    Belfast Ale
    Belfast Stout
    Clothworthy Dobbin
    Black Sheep Ale
    Fruili (strawberry beer)

There's a few bottles of "Irish Stout" from Marks and Spencers sitting in my friend's house that looks interesting, says it's made in Carlow so assuming it's O'Hara's brand. It's been there a few weeks apparently so I might sneak one if I'm drunk later.

Same brewery, but slightly stronger than O'Hara's. Very nice, though not as good as Belfast Black, I think.

With the mini heatwave decided to go for some "Africa" beer !

    Bedele beer from Ethiopia.
Just poured it and it smells sweet and the 1st sip is a creamy taste and a hint of honey from it.

Maybe the weather has clouded my taste buds !

Had a bottle of Victory Storm King imperial stout earlier. Very nice. I probably prefer it to the Brooklyn black chocolate stout which is a little heavier.

Paid a visit to Drinkstore yesterday and picked up...

    VICTORY HOP DEVIL
    GOOSE ISLAND I.P.A
    SIERRA NEVADA SUMMERFEST
    Sierra Nevada's 2009 Bigfoot
    BATEMANS DARK LORD
    BREWDOG Mikkeller Collaboration

After a Franciscan Well's Purgatory and a Floreffe Prima Mellior in The Abbot's, Cork, I had a bottle of Inis & Gunn Rum Cask Oak aged beer at home.

Considering that I don't really like their regular oaky brew at all, this was really good.
No overt rummy taste - just a very nicely balanced dark, strong, slightly sweet beer. Mmmmmmm!!!:P
