Is it just me or is the SPAS ridiculously unreliable or am i just using it wrong? Last night playing as host i got a few kills from 10-15 feet with it but then get a hit marker from about 3 feet away. Has happened a few times now

Usually play with Marathon / Scavenger, Lightweight and Ninja and have the m104 as a secondary but have been trying to use the SPAS more lately as everyone seems to swear by it.

It has been a bit hit and miss recently, I've blasted guys at close range and gotten a hit marker, and shot guys in a panic from 20 feet away and gotten headshots, put steady aim on it and hipfire, or a grip, dont ADS it as it reduces the spread of the pellets.

Its a combination of your and the hosts connection.
Enter a split screen private match and you'll see the spas is back its super powered self in both terms of damage and range... enter an online game and its all up in the air.

Tested it myself a few days back.

Only on for a bit there as I'm off out later but **** YOU INFINITY WARD.
Commando, heart-beat sensors, host migration, consistent hit markers with the M16 with SPP (often not one set but two sets before getting a kill).

    Also, lag.
Heard a guy coming towards me on Highrise, whipped out Spas and stood behind a box ADS waiting for him to walk around a corner. BOOM! Headshot. On me. Despite me having every possible advantage in the encounter and him not even being hit.
Was on Strike, 8-0 and my harriers were just taken out so was looking for my next 3 kills. Spot a guy and pump 2 sets of M16 rounds into him. No objects in the way. Hit-markers followed by me dying.
Overgrown. 10 killstreak and going for AC130, spot a guy, BAM and nothing in the way (he was standing on top of a wall) so AC130 here I come! Nah, just hitmarkers and someone kills me.

Did I mention Commando? Deserves another mention. Blitzing through bullets and shot-gun pellets is just special.

The part that gets me is that this game was billed as a realistic, modern shooter. Its not.

How the hell can run forever without collapsing and dieing from exhaustion? (Marathon/Lightweight)

How the hell can you get stabbed by some flying ninja-like person from the other side of the room? (Commando)

How the hell can you see other players heartbeats, and better yet, differentiate what team they belong too? (Heartbeast Sensor)

Why do people only show up as "hot" on the Thermal scopes? (Thermal Scope)

Why can you dual weild a SHOTGUN without breaking your arm when you go to shoot it? (Ranger Akimbo / Model 1887 Akimbo)

How come if you die 4 times in a row you suddenly get 4x regular hp? (Painkiller)

How come when you die a select amount of times you can fall to the ground and weild your weapon with one hand using the same accuracy as before... and then get back up. (Final Stand)

How come you can run around at full sprint carrying an M200 or an M95?

How come the WA2000 is in the game? Thats not even made anymore.

How come your Sniper no-longer 1-shots with a silencer? That makes sense...

How come a M16 and FAMAS can 1-burst anyone yet a regular assault rifle takes more then 3 bullets to kill?

The list of nonsense goes on and on...

Thats something I dont get either, you're near death, possibly crawling away, and then you can whip out your SCAR rifle and aim it perfectly, even looking down the sights, you should have it in one hand, and it should be off centre and inaccurate, for last ditch shots if someone is around, not put you into auto-camp mode where you just aim, sit stilll for 30 seconds or so and then get back up and go on your merry way again.

Aye i gave Steady Aim a shot but while playing with headphones the sound of my own footsteps freak me out. Many times i've stopped dead in my tracks thinking i'm hearing someone creeping up on me :o

Yeah i figured at first it was probably due to lag when it happened before but in this particular game i was the host and I've got a really good internet connection so i can't see how that would be the problem :(

    Just one question...

(and I am not a die-hard "MUST WIN THIS GAME" kinda player but..)

Why do people run out from buildings when there is a harrier/pave-low/chopper gunner/ac130 above, without cold-blooded perk or indeed, any attempt to shoot it fookin down?

This happened twice at the weekend, and on the second occasion, one lucky b*stard on the other team, in Wasteland, got a nuke! The following games, I consistently beat his score... It left me thinking; yes, you must have skill to get a nuke, but alot of the team surely its dependent upon the stupidity of the opposition?!?

If you're going for a nuke I think to a point, it depends on their team.
Giving away easy kills, not shooting down air support, and doing as you say running out into the open without cold blooded.

Harrier takes a quick suicide, class change and 1 stinger. 15 seconds at most, if you plan it right it doesn't shoot anyone by tracking it in as it comes onto the map. We were playing wasteland before and my friend had harrier and set it up by the helicopter. He went from 7 kills to 21 kills with it. 14 kills in total in a minute.

If I've still got a semtex, and I'm not on a nice streak myself, I'll suicide and swap to stinger. If I Claymore left, I'll try to use that, but it's not as easy. If I've no equipment, I'll go hide in a building for the time and not give away a free kill. But if I do get shot, stinger class straight away.

I'd be very slow to suicide in TDM but if I get killed by a killstreak that hangs around, I'll instantly respond with my stinger class - why others don't is beyond me. Or at least swop to a CB class.

Went back on Sat night for a few games , 2 of us were below level 30 the rest above yet no one could take out the airsupport.

Why? I'm 99.9% sure that Suidice doesn't benefit the other team? Same as if you fall of the cliff on Afghan the scores don't change.

Not unless you've been hurt by someone shortly before you suicide (if you're red) and kill yourself it counts as an assited suicide iirc. TDM = all about winning and to be fair a good number of the 75 kills will come from air support, especially if nobody shoots it down and there's noobs running out without CB. Small sacrifice for the greater good. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I suidice when I hear harriers are coming in if i'm not on a streak myself, love changing class just as the bombing run finishes, whipping out the stinger, tracking the harrier coming in from outside the map, boom, down it goes before a shot is fired, get the next few kills yourself ya fecker, I'll shoot down your pavelow/chopper/ac-130 too :D

They need to make taking out air support more worthwhile for the players who go to the bother, yeah you get extra xp but that doesnt really benefit you in a massive way, extra bonuses or even knocking a kill off your killstreak would be more worthwhile, its the reason fcuk all players do it 99% of the time. I dont do it with every piece of air support, if I'm a kill short of a harrier myself I'll hole up and wait it out, unlike my dumbass teammates who charge out from the spawn point and get mowed down.

since when have people been able to walk through claymores without them making noise or even exploding:mad: was in a lobby the other day and people kept walking through them without them blowing up. its ****e a claymore should activate when detected and no perk should overrule this!!!

Scrambler is a rubbish perk, they should have made it totally freeze your mini-map if you're within X metres, it's just too much of a give-away as is.

As to suiciding, I'll probably be on a streak of my own and I'd rather not interrupt it. I'm not averse to using my pred to take it out if needs be, esp. as I want to take an AC130 out with one - JUST missed one the other night!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,139 ✭✭✭✭Mr. Manager

I'm not defending Scrambler Pro, I think it's the single worst perk in the game (yea yea worse than OMA and commando) I was just saying what would Scrambler Pro do if it didn't delay claymores. . .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I never use scrambler, its like having a sign on your head thats says "im over here!" , minimap goes slight suzzy, walk one way, gets clear, oh then learly theres a guy over there, oh look, bam, easy kill. It only really works on Rust, if a few people on it are using it then its wrecks the UAV, on big maps its useless though.

Maybe make Sit Rep Pro the ability to walk through claymores and make Scrambler freeze the mini-map and increase the sound of footsteps? Scrambler would be a great rushing perk and Sit Rep would be great for weeding out campers.

Yea that's decent but I do like Sit Rep Pro! It's very handy at times. Especially if you have good surround sound!

Would be kind of pointless if Sit Rep showed claymores glowing red through walls and then Sit Rep Pro stops them going off. If you can clearly see the claymore you can just destroy, negating the need to be able to stop it going off.

What's with the enemy forfeits lately? I've had 2-3 of those in the last week or so. Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't played much this week so I haven't noticed. But before when I was over at a mates (and we were playing against one of our other mates) and the host was really really ****e. Everyone but my friend and the other one were kicked off. 1 person on either team so it wasn't an enemy forfeit, they ended up boosting a nuke in fuel because it was the only them in it.

Weird that it was just him and the other lad playing while everyone else was booted off.

Happened me last night on Carnival, there was 7 people in the lobby, the game started, host changed and 4 people were left, then another quid so it was me and one other guy looking for some poor bloke on the other team on his own lol, I quit not long after, was too dull.
